Do you have pictures of him on your bedside cabinet?
-
Dont get me wrong, Stuart Pearce wouldn't be my first choice, i just think anyone that it moaning that the likes of Curnishley, Zola and even Pearce etc are not good enough for us because their premier league record wasn't that great is seriously deluded.
-
Behave yourself you whinging, miserable sod. It works out £0.013 per day, you wouldn't get this much pleasure anywhere else for that.
-
I dont see why everyone is turnin their nose up at Curbishley, he was excellent for Charlton over a long period of time.
-
Zola reminds me of another manager we had not long ago, in his first football management job at a middle sized club, he did a decent job, bought in some good players, then had a number of his best players sold from under him. Zola kept his side up though, the other manager got relegated and sacked and ended up at Southampton to a response of WTF (i include myself in that initially) from the fans. The other manager went on to become our best manager since McMenemy.

Better to become sexually arounsed about a person than a post on an internet forum, wierdo.

It's not my opinion on the manager, it's my opinion on the madness of some of the posts i have seen on it. Aren't you a bit sad getting a boner over a new thread?
-
Now whilst i dont agree with the sacking of AP, we are where we are. I cant believe some of you are turning your noses up at the likes of Zola, Curbishley and Pearce, proven managers with premier league experience. Apparantly Zola is not good enough because he has no league one experience and didn't set the world on fire at West Ham, depsite mid table finish and keeping them up when they were a mess, likewise Stuart Pearce. I spoke to my boss this morning, he lives in Cheshire and a Crewe Alexandera fan would you believe, he burst out laughing when i told him some of the names linked, saying 'why would any of them go to League 1?" This is how it is seen outside of Southampton, why would Curbishley, Zola etc come here? If we get anyone of them, it is a massive coup. You are mad and deluded if you think otherwise. Get a grip of reality people!!!

Wilkins says in the echo today we are still looking to bring players in and there was a meeting yesterday afternoon to discuss this.
-
Looks like we were after McIndoe from Coventry...
Turkish replied to Marsdinho's topic in The Saints
according to Wilkins in the Echo today we are still looking to sign players, a meeting was held yesterday afternoon to discuss new signings before the window shuts. -
Precisely. I also find it laughable that people are saying managers who have a reasonable record at Premier League level cant cut it in league one. Ridiculous to suggest that a decent manager cant manage at a level lower than the one they were last at!
-
A few weeks ago this clown was saying that they are going to become the biggest club in the South.
-
Such as? He has had TWO seasons at club management, not done brilliantly but then neither did a certain Mr Strachan in his first management job. I think he would be a decent shout two divison below PL. The more i think about it, the more i'd like Paul Jewell.
-
so taking England U21's to the European Cup final is serial under achieving is it? Robson has failed with 4 clubs, Platt has done nothing with all of his. Pearce has been successful (by England standards) at U21 level and reasonable with what was at the time an average PL side. Hardly in the same league as Robson who has three relegations with 4 clubs on his CV. Pearce has PL and international experience albeit at U21 level, isn't our focus on youth developemnt? He do a good job in L1, If you think he'd be a shocking apointment you are mental.
-
Behave yourself Pal, 15th and although struggled weren't relegated weren't, unlike Robson. Man City were just another club in those days, not got the billions like they have now. Acheived relative success, a final defeat, with England under 21's and has been talked about as a possible future England manager. A shocking appointment? Some of you lot need to remember what divison we are in.
-
Robson, Platt and Pearce are hardly comparable. Pearce a couple of decent seasons at City and then relative success with England U21's, Platt has done nothing of note at all in management and Robson, although having a decent start, has never really cut it as a manager. A promtion in his first season a couple of cup final defeats but also a couple of relegations. I'd be happy with Pearce.
-
That'd be good, although half the goons on here will no doubt question his management pedigree as his record is comparable to Zola, who hasn't got the right pedigree for some.
-
I'm with you there pal, TBH, i cant remember the last time he said anything bad about us. On the football league show i think he comes across pretty well.
-
okay, fair enough, agree with you there. Would love to be a fly on the wall in their board meetings!
-
why? He got Derby and Forest promoted. I am at a loss as to why everyone seems to think these managers they have a personal dislike for would all 'be a nightmare' He is a bit of a c*nt, but if he was manager of SFC, he is our c*nt and if he gets us promoted, who gives a f*ck.
-
ones from that list i'd be happy with Zola Southgate Mowbray Shearer Jewell Clarke (maybe) Curbishley O'Neill No one has really mentioned Paul Jewell yet, got Wigan promoted twice from L1 to the PL in what, 3 seasons? i think he is a very good shout.
-
oh sorry Shurlock, i bow to your superior knowledge, obviously AP and NC were best pals and all the players hated Pardew and made NC sack him.
-
He may have made a few duff signings, which managers dont but on the whole he did a decent job there. Midtable finishes and two cup finals for a club like Middlesborough is a decent return. In fact i believe their League cup win was their first every trophy was it not? Yes they were beaten by Sevilla, a very very good side, i remember one or two other English clubs being well beaten by Spainish sides over the past few years too. Two years UEFA cup qualification and a couple of FA Semi finals throw in there as well? This is his league record. 2001-02 Prem 12th 2002-03 Prem 11th 2003-04 Prem 11th 2004-05 Prem 7th 2005-06 Prem 14th 2006-07 Prem 12th A 7th place in there, better than Saints have ever done in the PL and better than the supposed genius Harry Redknapp did with the Skates despite all the millions he spent. I dont know what these clubs expect. Clubs like Boro should only ever expect midtable, anything higher is them punching above their weight. I think give the above he did a bloody decent job. It's a pointless discussion anyway as he wont be the next Saints manger.
-
who would be? Assuming Martin O'Neill is not interested in the job.
-
well as no one seems to know anything about it or who they are, then it suggests they weren't exactly massive cogs in the SFC wheel. Apparantly the players liked him as did the first team staff, surely that is all that matters. Not if the U8's summer schools coach doesn't like him. To me it's clear, Cortese wanted to get rid of Pardew, they clearly didn't see eye to eye, ML liked him, now ML (RIP) is no longer involved, Cortese can get rid of him.
