I said at the start of the season that I hoped Pelle wouid prove me wrong but I didn't feel he'd get into double figures. He's done better than I thought he would but he's starting to cause me some concern, as are others. We really lack a proven finisher, a poacher. I honestly don't think we'll finish top 10 this season. We're a far cry from the team who put 8 past Sunderland!!!

£10m quid. Has age on his side but he's proving to be nothing more than an expensive replacement for Boruc, who had done nothing wrong.

Correctly predicted a 1-0 defeat, just gutted I didn't have money on it. Koeman got it totally wrong with his team selection today. Mane is far more effective coming off the bench with 20 mins to go. Don't understand why Pelle didn't take the penalty. Off to the bookies to have money on us not finishing in the top 10.

Just imagine if it did happen. 2nd in November and relegated in May would be one of the biggest shocks of all time. Current odds are 250-1.

Said we wouldn't be top 6 by Xmas and I stand by that. There's some great odds to be had on us not finishing in the top 10. -
Saints 1 Man Utd 2 - Post Match Meltdown

Utd were ****ing awful tonight. The fact we failed to capitalise on their dreadful performance says a lot. The difference was one world class striker. Had, Long and Pelle taken their chances then we'd have won 4-2. Got a horrible feeling we'll get nothing at Burnley. -
Exactly. It's all happening about the same time that it happened last season. Our inability to beat the top 6 teams is a concern too.

What's up with Cork?

This one's a potential Banana skin. Our run has to come to an end sometime and I've got a horrible feeling we're gonna **** up this weekend. :-/

Had a horrible feeling that the wheels were going to come off today. Gutted. Spurs and Liverpool are the two teams I really wanted us to turn over this season. Need to get back to winning ways ASAP. -
first 45 we were not sharp more open 2nd half He's said this after every game. Surely it's about time you did something about it then, Ron? ;-) To be honest, I couldn't give a **** whilst we're winning. Koeman is becoming one of my favourite Saints managers.

Got a bad feeling about Saturday's game. I can see the bubble bursting and us slipping up. :-/ -
Not going to gloat just yet but he deserves everything he gets. Why do managers choose to go to Spuds to 'further their career' when they've got such a dreadful reputation for not giving managers time to develop and prove themselves. Guess it's all about money and Poch showed that he's as greedy as every other manager they've had, which I why I hope he fails miserably.

Post-Match Reaction: Swansea 0-1 SAINTS
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
A fantastic result. How refreshing is it to see a manager who's not affraid to change things? Once again his subsitutions were superb. Yoshida was getting a roasting in the first half and would've probably been given his marching orders had he stayed on the field. Ok, it's common sense but numerous managers wouldn't have made that change. Big Vic really changed things when he came on and it's great to see him getting his first Saints goal. In fact, it's great to see so many members of the team chipping in with goals. -
I take back what I said after seeing him in Pre-Season. I had serious doubts that he'd be able to adjust to life in the Premiership but he looked like a different player today. Top Marks!

Thank you. As I tried to explain in an earlier post, I went to see him as it was a good opportunity to see SL with my own eyes and to see what he is capable of. Sadly he didn't play the whole game, which I expected him to, and the 30 minuted he did play, he did nothing. The Republic are a awful team so anybody with any real talent should shine amongst the mediocrity. Robbie Brady and Aiden McGeady both managed to do this and both looked impressive as did Robbie Keane when he came on. I got chatting to a few people sat near me and told them I was a Saints fan, every one of them pretty much reacted in the same way... 12 Million for Shane Long? And then some comment like... That's what happens when other clubs know that you've got money... Your manager's been smoking something in Amsterdam... He's ok but never worth that money & we were shocked when Hull paid £6m for him! And the classic... are yous a bunch of feckin' eejuts. :-)

Read what I said... 'BASED ON TONIGHT'S PERFORMANCE'. I will go and watch him again as everybody deserves a chance however, he's never impressed me when I've seen televised games and he did nothing tonight to change my opinion. He didnt even do the positive things that people talk about on here!
-
Well he played for 31 minutes and was spectacularly unimpressive. He committed several stupid fouls and won a couple of free kicks. Other than that he did **** all. Based on that performance I wouldn't give £1.2m for him. I honestly wonder what Saints saw in him that made them pay £12m for his services. I now know why he started on the bench. Hasn't Doyle just gone to CP? I'd much rather have had him at Saints. He looked world class compared to Long. Robbie Keane also showed that he's got more about him. I went tonight as I felt I should give the lad a chance as I've been fairly critical without actually seeing him in the flesh. I've come away even more disillusioned. He showed nothing, and I mean NOTHING that justifies that price tag or even suggests he's of Premiership standard. Overall verdict based on tonight's performance... Shane Long is ****!
