Skates v Yids Match Thread
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd replied to Saint Fan CaM's topic in General Sports
I can see the FA cup being cancelled this year. It happened in 2008 due to lack of interest in the competition and may well happen again this year. 2008 was the first time the FA felt it neccessary to cancel the event since World War 2. I saw a picture of the trophy the other day and seeing the words 'CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST' engraved next to 2008 just didn't look right. It's a shame as I like the FA Cup, but when nobody is interested you can understand why the FA scrap it. -
Bloody hell. I thought that was embroiderd onto the shirt. From what people are saying, I'm glad I didn't pay for some cheap print that comes off in the wash.
-
How tacky are those t-shirts! Are they not doing an embroidered option for the home shirt? They did one with the date of the final, so why not do one that says 'JPT final winners 2010'?

Lallana speculation...

I'm sure Adam is looking at this and thinking, I could enjoy the same success that Andrew Surman has had if I go there. -
Like I said yesterday. Celtic are managerless at the moment. Why would they be looking at buying players that a potential new manager may not be interested in?
-
Surely the manager would tell the chairman which players he wanted. If so, why would Celtic be interested in Lallana when they've not appointed a replacement for Tony Mowbray yet.

Had a great time in Sweden in 2004. I'd be more than happy to go back there.

I live in Chester so it's a 500 mile round trip for a home game. The ever rising price of fuel doesn't help when added to the price of a ticket and spends for the day. I also work most Saturday's, so that makes things difficult.

Danny Wilson is a great manager and one of football's nicest characters. The league doesn't lie. Swindon have been well organised all season and Wilson has done a superb job, proving that you don't have to spend millions to produce an effective 'team'. Anyone who thinks we will walk this league next season could be in for a shock. Just because we have a big budget, it doesn't mean we are going to run away with the league. There will be other teams like us who will strengthen by spending and like Swindon, there will be one of two other suprise outfits who are well organised and have a great team ethic, which will prove to be worth its weight in gold.

I'll be more concerned if Jamie Scowcroft starts for them. He always scores against us.
-
I'd go for the following... Holmes Murty Spiderman Wotton Perry And maybe... Connolly Antonio Papa Waigo Jaidi Pardew?

I said that when we were 1-0 down and we equalised. Thought I'd try it again as a last ditch attempt and it worked again -

Said we's lose this one on Sunday. Don't understand Pardew's team selection at all. Hope I'm proved wrong. -
Late Kick Off - BBC South 29/03/10

********. Completely forgot about the show being regional. I could have tuned in on Sky 984. -
At the services on the M40 we were chatting to a Carlisle fan who was asking where was a good place to leave the car and get the train to Wembley. At this point a guy approached us and said 'Good luck for today'. I assumed he was a Carlisle fan... Then came the bombshell... 'I'm a Pompey fan, but I like to see you doing well'. Never been so stunned. If it was the other way round I'd never dream of approaching 3 Pompey fans at a service station and admitting I was a Saints fan.
-
I was waiting for him to say 'Jesus Saves' just so that I could shout 'But Lambert scores from the rebound'. Sadly it never happened & I certainly had no intention of hanging around for too long.
-
Were you in the club Wembley seats in block 250? Your description sounds like a couple of the lads I went with. One of whom fell asleep in the second half and was only woken by the surrounding fans shouting 'wake up sleepy head'. He opened one eye and said 'I had a funny feeling that I might have been asleep'.

Still doesn't change the fact that I heard him say he was a Chelsea fan. Theakston said 'I thought you were from Southampton' to which CD replied 'Yeah, that's my home town, but I follow Chelsea'. Obviously a glory seeking ****!
-
He is. A few years ago I went to see 'A Question Of Pop' being filmed at the BBC in Manchester. Craig David was a guest on one of the teams. During a filming break he was chatting to Jamie Theakston about football. Theakston said he was a Brighton fan. Craig David said 'I support Chelsea'. So he's only a Saints fan when there's publicity involved. ****!

So you're the one with the pictures of next seasons home kit. Nice to see they've kept their word about there being no sponsor.
