  1. Not just the islands, the mainland also. Holidayed for many years on the Mani Peninsula in the Peloponnese also visited the Pelion which is absolutely beautiful. Always liked the look of Sardinia. Lost my wife in December so holidaying not so easy at the moment.
  2. I quite like the mountains in the summer. A cycling trip to the Alps is always good for the soul. Something quite odd about being in ski-resort in July. Next year looking around Bourg St Maurice area. Many famous climbs are relatively close by, but its the less known little gems you find which are really special. Like cycling around Lake Annecy or the Col de Beaune. Starts right opposite the Col du Telegraphe, beautifully quiet and peaceful by comparison
  3. NE Corfu around Agios Stefanos Sinion. Right up in Durrell territory. White pebble beaches into blue Ionion Sea. Good enough for the Rothschilds it’s good enough for me. Food good too. Ithaki is nice as well. Maldives very romantic but boring. Best bit was seaplane transfer. Saw better reefs, fish etc in Hurghada area than in Indian Ocean. Absolutely detest USA. Only went once, wouldn’t go back If it was given.
  4. What have the Romans ever done for us?
  5. In the EU where there is no similar price cap on energy gas is on average €200 per mega watt hour. The UK is £263.79 per mega watt hour. The current exchange rate means that €1 is the equivalent of £0.85p which equates to £169.50 per megawatt hour in the EU. We are being ripped off!
  6. No, fucking ginger neanderthal
  7. Killed it last season around the Villa game with remarks re Bednarek having his mind elsewhere (WC play-offs). Never been right since across the team regardless of who plays and where they play. These things are corrosive in a team environment.
  8. Certainly a more constructive way of looking at things.
  9. Maybe get that rugby matey in again.
  10. How do you know this?
  11. I agreed. Didn't expect anything else. Good side Spurs, way better than us. Our battles elsewhere in this league. Understandable reaction here as little seems to have changed since last season. Happy to reserve judgement until window shuts though.
  12. I think score wise you're probably not too far wide of the mark. It may spark a sudden surge to get players in immediately, but It'll definitely trigger the normal reaction on here. Relegated by tea-time.
  13. https://twitter.com/search?q="️First Manager Sacked"&src=trend_click&vertical=trends Looks like Fat Frank is on borrowed time!
  14. I’m not sure why so many people froth at the mouth over immigration boats and all that shit.
  15. Newcastle, Aston Villa and Leeds are in a bunfight over the Bordeaux teenager Sékou Mara. The French club have been demoted to the third tier due to their financial problems and may need to sell the 19-year-old forward. From the Graun! No mention of Saints whatsoever.
  16. Brexiters would argue that they failed on account of EU state-aid rules. Not sure they are the answer now either, however as they will have to be compliant with WTO rules.
  17. France getting dog's abuse for controlling its borders. Dover traffic: Port declares critical incident over long queues - BBC News
  18. No-one seems to have mentioned Freeports in all of this. Or at least I cant be arsed to backtrack through posts to find any. It's worth noting that they were permitted whilst in the EU btw, but not in the guise of the post Brexit Freeport. The claim is that Freeports or 'charter cities' will generate massive economic growth and thereby reduce poverty. Sounds great, and definitely fits a 'Levelling Up' agenda. Southampton and Portsmouth are earmarked for Freeport/Charter City status. I suppose the economic growth angle makes it quite a persuasive argument in their favour. It is possible that the whole of the Solent area could become privately owned and operated where pretty much everything from health care, education and the police force to local government and the judicial system are not determined by Westminster or by locally democratically elected representatives, but by a private corporation accountable only to itself. They set the rules and enforce them with their privately owned judicial system. Questions Do the potential economic benefits outweigh the potential disadvantages? Is this de-regulation on steroids? Do they erode democracy? Do they lead an erosion of rights, particularly those of workers? Do they lead to a lack commercial transparency?
  19. https://twitter.com/i/status/1550349050616086529 Exporting to the EU made easy! The real carnage starts today. Schools finished, first weekend of the summer holidays. Critical situation already at Dover 4+ hour waits. Airports going to be interesting as well.
  20. Cheers, I’ll get onto AQA and tell them.
  21. Am I allowed to teach climate change next year btw? Just checking. Someone on here in the past, can't remember who, maybe GM but not sure, berated me in the past for teaching the geography of climate change. saying I was unqualified to do so as I wasn't a scientist.
  22. Which I think most of us did over the last few days, hence my question at the end. Seems to me the reporting was over the top. That said there are plenty of people in this country who get it wrong in the conditions, sometimes with tragic consequences, so how to get through to them is a key issue. Maybe they're just auditioning for the Darwin Awards so perhaps we just let them get on with it.
  23. On this subject it seems hysteria is not allowed, climate change is just a figment of woke imaginations and Covid was just a kind of 'flu' thingy. Is that about right? 😁 Oh, and is everyone still alive?
  24. At least you weren't riding up it!
  25. Followed Pidcock’s progress for a while now. Thought the was due a grand tour breakthrough. As he said himself, it wasn’t bad. Watching his descending is like watching Moto GP. I’m not the greatest descender but I’ve done the Telegraphe and Glandon/Croix de Fer and they are proper long and scary simply because you are either gaining speed or holding speed and then gaining it again. Also didn’t have benefit of closed roads so is a different ball game to the pros, but nevertheless impressive stuff.
