There's some decidedly dodgy bad taste stuff, particularly on Twitter. Kevin Bridges hasn't covered himself in glory either. As for Shamrock Rovers fans?

Like a number on here I’m no royalist but hope any subsequent comments posted on here are respectful.

Win a game and we’re challenging for Europe, lose a game and we are relegation fodder. Kin ell a sense of perspective and all that!

Right!

That was a hell of a take from the long ball.

Enjoy your holiday and best of luck with the new job

Ahead of the game here. Got one on order that has a petrol engine which acts as a generator. Wheels always driven by battery. No plugging in needed. Drives like an EV throughout, he says reaching new levels of smugness! Seriously though, I know a few people in the motor trade who work for the likes of Honda, Jaguar/Land Rover dealerships who reckon that hydrogen cell tech is more likely the way forward than EVs in the future.

I’ve got a couple of trips booked next year to places I’ve not been before. First is to Belgium in March, ostensibly a cycling trip based in and around Ieper. Watching a couple of Spring Classics (E3 Saxo Bank Classic, Gent-Wevelgem)and doing a bit of the WW1 battlefields. By all accounts Flanders Week can be a beery one. Second one is to the Bourg St Maurice area of the French Alps in the summer. There’s something of a weird charm about ski resorts out of season just as there are coastal resorts. Riding up and down mountain roads for ‘fun’. Done Bourg d’Oisans area and Maurienne valley in the past. This time it’ll be Petit St Bernard, Col d’Iseran, Cormet de Roseland and then there’s La Plagne, Tignes etc all nearby.

Read recently that there is quite a lot of push back in Norway towards the cruise industry. I suppose you can have too much of a good thing. Not sure about cruising to be honest. It seems an ideal solution as a now solo traveller. That said I've booked two weeks next year to Kefalonia. I'm taking my daughter and her husband for a week and I'm having my first go at holidaying on my own for the second. On a more serious note we're also taking my wife's ashes there as we spent our honeymoon in Kefalonia back in the eighties. https://www.newsinenglish.no/2018/10/24/calls-rise-to-limit-cruiseship-arrivals/

That’s so sad. One of the very best Saints. RIP Dave

Reading some of the comments on social media that accompanied this made me laugh. With each bike sale the purchaser has to buy a high viz tabard with a number plate on the back that is visible a all times. Another was selling GPS training thingies that make blokes look like they’re in bras. Use them to track speeding cyclists. Then there’s the old get them to pay road tax, which I believe went out in 1937. Why don’t people get that VED is based currently on emissions so cyclists like EVs are exempt. Right I’m off out to pretend I’m riding in the Vuelta in my Lycra. I’ll jump a few red lights on the way and generally cycle like a twat just to fulfil the lame stereotype

Not just the islands, the mainland also. Holidayed for many years on the Mani Peninsula in the Peloponnese also visited the Pelion which is absolutely beautiful. Always liked the look of Sardinia. Lost my wife in December so holidaying not so easy at the moment.

I quite like the mountains in the summer. A cycling trip to the Alps is always good for the soul. Something quite odd about being in ski-resort in July. Next year looking around Bourg St Maurice area. Many famous climbs are relatively close by, but its the less known little gems you find which are really special. Like cycling around Lake Annecy or the Col de Beaune. Starts right opposite the Col du Telegraphe, beautifully quiet and peaceful by comparison

NE Corfu around Agios Stefanos Sinion. Right up in Durrell territory. White pebble beaches into blue Ionion Sea. Good enough for the Rothschilds it’s good enough for me. Food good too. Ithaki is nice as well. Maldives very romantic but boring. Best bit was seaplane transfer. Saw better reefs, fish etc in Hurghada area than in Indian Ocean. Absolutely detest USA. Only went once, wouldn’t go back If it was given.

What have the Romans ever done for us?

In the EU where there is no similar price cap on energy gas is on average €200 per mega watt hour. The UK is £263.79 per mega watt hour. The current exchange rate means that €1 is the equivalent of £0.85p which equates to £169.50 per megawatt hour in the EU. We are being ripped off!

Killed it last season around the Villa game with remarks re Bednarek having his mind elsewhere (WC play-offs). Never been right since across the team regardless of who plays and where they play. These things are corrosive in a team environment.
