  1. That’s GotM sorted. Everton look shite.
  2. My first memory was of 66. For me Mexico 70 was the eye opener. There was a telly in our form room at secondary school and one of the teachers would show the highlights programme during lunch break. I remember it being packed in there. England v Romania was our opener. Kick off was in the middle of the night IIRC possibly 1am. Remember Keith Newton at right back getting an absolute kicking time after time from the Romanian left back as he overlapped repeatedly down the right. Then there was Brazil. Should have been the final before we beat Czechoslovakia with an Allan Clarke pen. I don't remember much about the final group game but all of them ended 1-0. And then England got knocked out. Remember as a 12 year old really struggling to get my head around that. Looking back, I suppose Sir Alf recognised Bobby Charlton's importance to the team and took him off to save him for the semi-final at 2 up. I mean Colin Bell was by no means a shabby player but Charlton had kept Beckenbauer occupied. Once he was off Beckenbauer had licence to go forward. It was afternoon game and remember watching it in disbelief as the second half unfolded. Bonetti letting in one under his body and Seeler's freak header. I think the Germans bought on Grabowski who stretched us down the right which lead to the final header back across goal and Gerd Muller on his own in the six yard box, with The Cat no chance to save it. Its funny how games imprint themselves on your memory. On a Saints related note would have been good to see Micky Channon in a WC but failing to qualify in 74 and 78 meant that was never to be. Also Ossie, obviously then with Chelsea, made two appearances as sub in group games.
  3. Evidently Kari Lake the GOP candidate in the Arizona gubernatorial election has stated that the only result she will accept is if she wins the governorship. Couldn't make it up. Also MTG has gone on record today that the GOP will not pay a penny more to Ukraine if they win the House. Not policy, but scarily she may have a senior position after the mid-terms. Somehow over this side of the pond looks sane.
  4. Amazing the invective he seems to generate.
  5. Fuck off then!
  6. This hasn't aged well. Pick the lies and misinformation out of it!
  7. Occasionally listen to O'Brien, but hes a bit of a windbag at times. His shtick is 'compassion for the conned, contempt for the conman.' Not showing a huge amount of compassion towards this 'conned' caller.
  8. You are absolutely right. However, the criteria seem to be very tightly defined and preclude anyone on a boat. "Safe and legal routes take various forms. Successive recent UK governments have expanded UK refugee resettlement schemes. They have also created extra immigration routes in response to deteriorating security and human rights in Hong Kong, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. The Johnson government committed to providing safe and legal routes of entry as part of a broader programme of asylum reforms outlined in its New Plan for Immigration policy statement (March 2021). It wanted fewer people to come to the UK as asylum seekers and more to come through safe and legal routes. However, successive recent governments have believed it’s inappropriate and counterproductive to provide safe and legal routes for migrants who make unauthorised journeys to Europe and want to come to the UK. Advocates suggest that doing so could help to reduce small boat crossings and other forms of illegal migration." A processing centre in France, offered by the French, but declined by HMG, would help. You have to question why this has happened. The cynic in me suggests that without the crossings there would be nothing to see here. The consequence of which would be there'd be nothing for people to be fearful of or angry about. After all what do the Tories and their media supporters have left other than stoking hatred towards refugees and immigrants. I suppose it helps cover up the shortfalls in their governance.
  9. When you buy a small and relatively cheap appliance either online or in store and you get asked if you want to insure it.
  10. Would lose all interest if that ginger cunt came anywhere near us.
  11. Couldn’t agree more. Taken for the first time as a five year old to watch us beaten by Revie’s Leeds in Div 2, and in truth, apart from a bit in the 70s and 80s it’s not got much better. It is what is. I suspect many of us were born to it rather than chose Saints. If it’s glory and victory you want you’re supporting the wrong team. Wouldnt swap it for anything though. Well, just one non football thing!
  12. I’m old, but going to the Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells 50 Year Anniversary gig at the Hexagon with my daughter. After her mum passed away I promised I’d do a concert as it was something they did together. She wanted me to blow £300 a ticket to see Coldplay in Manchester so something a tenth of the price is my reason to be cheerful. Leon is good stuff. Their salads book might make you revisit the idea BTW. 😂
  13. Yeah, I heard a figure of around 800000 nationally, out of 66 million.
  14. I love Marmite on toast.
  15. Given the number of kids he’s fathered rather surprised that Johnson has pulled out.
  16. Michael Sheen as PM Martin Lewis CEx Deborah Meaden Business Chris Packham Environment 😁
  17. Unfortunately, he passed away and we got Blair as PM instead.
  18. It's kind of get a grip. In football terms we're around 25% in, its October, put things in perspective, that's all.
  19. God knows how some on here would react if something really important happened to them or their loved ones.
  20. Comes across as a decent fella, but that doesn't excuse his record which is lamentable. Should have gone after either of 9-0s as I feel those marked a change to a more cautious Ralph, and it hasn't worked out either in points or in spectacle. Using a political analogy he is becoming as toxic to the fanbase as Truss is the Tories.
  21. Pork Markets!! The Anti-growth Coalition, the new mythical beast on the block.
  22. I'm certainly using less than we were last year especially as I'm on my own now. House had to be kept warm for my wife during her illness. Shame I can't harness my turbo trainer in the garage to help, but on second thought 180W for an hour isn't go very far!
  23. Indeed, I was about to edit my post to make that point, but I've just had a delivery so you beat me to it. Standing charge capped, unit price risen by 27%. Truss been spouting bollocks about it on her local radio clusterfuck this morning.
  24. I already pay £300 a month.
  25. Somebody I know had a working Cocker blinded in one eye recently by a Corgi. It was in Berkshire, by the Thames.
