No ill will towards him from me. Can see both points of view, we think we can get better value than Fonte at this stage of his career than what Fonte was asking for, while Fonte off the back of a European Cup win wanted a pay day and also to try and ensure he has a place to compete for a World Cup spot. All in all it's just a shame that he's had to go to get what he wanted, he's been awesome for us for a long time now. We'll certainly miss what he bought to the club, even if time and tide meant we were going to have to deal with that anyway sooner or later.

Club won't be replacing Fonte, gardos to get his chance

Would be foolish to say anything else really, otherwise you're damaging your own negotiating position. Can't read anything into it either way. -
Not quite sure how we managed to lose that one. One of those days.

Depends if there was a sell on clause, and the type of clause if there was one. Sometimes it's a percentage of the sold-on price, sometimes it's a percentage of the sold-on profit.

Right, a win and a clean sheet in the first leg. Would have taken your arm off for that at the start. There's a small amount of disappointment, but we've given ourselves a fantastic chance. Now we go there, give it everything, and take our place at Wembley. Liverpool are missing Mané, they're starting to tire from Klopp's pressing game, and Coutinho is going to take a few weeks to get back to full match sharpness. This is where the investment of the rotation policy hopefully starts to pay us back.

Very good result. Could and really should have been so much better.
-
Was that handball from Lovren on the line there?!
-
Officiating. Enough said.
-
Definitely given ourselves a chance here. Liverpool having more of the possession but we're doing a good job of stopping them doing anything with it so far. We actually look pretty decent in attack as well. Fair to say that it looks like Liverpool are missing Mané.
-
Amazing how a goal can actually make you more nervous! We might just have a chance here...

Utterly ridiculous decision to send Redmond off, tussling like that happens dozens of times every game and he'd already allowed the game to play on. The ref only pulled it back after he missed his shot. Spurs had been clinical with their chances before that, but we'd actually been very good at limiting them. Spurs certainly weren't worth 4-1 against us.

It's less a rivalry and more pest control. It's fun to see them disappointed after they've built the game up in their own heads, but I get far more enjoyment myself out of victories over teams at or near the top of the league. We have a bigger rivalry with Everton at the moment.
-
Not often that I want Liverpool to win, but quite enjoyed that, especially with having Mané as fantasy league captain.

He's baaaaaaaaaaaaack! GET THE **** IN!

Away in 2nd Leg to Liverpool, worst draw we could have got out of that lot. Still winnable though, and there's a Wembley final possible here.
-
Fantastic result, fully deserved win at the Emirates

The mistake the media makes is in thinking we're a selling club. We do sell players, but ONLY if our valuation of them is met, and we think we can get better value ourselves elsewhere. The importance of VvD to the side, the length of his contract... He won't go in January, I'm sure he won't go at the end of the season, and I doubt he'll go at the end of next season either. Getting him to sign that six year deal was one of the best bits of business the club has ever done.

Very sad news RIP

That was a bloody impressive debut by Sims. Looking forward to seeing his game develop for us. Thought we really looked up for the game today, pressing was much better than it has been recently. Oh, and I guess it was nice to beat Koeman/Everton as well.
-
Very very good result. We missed chances but Liverpool missed better ones. van Dijk/Romeu are formidable.
