  1. Gave away a stupid goal, worst we've played in ages, ref was awful, Monday night game away from home, but we've managed to dig out a point. Annoying. We need to move on to the City game now. Any sort of result against them makes up for tonight.

  4. Looked very harsh to me, that one.
  5. I don't think we need to worry about Liverpool as Top Four rivals any more. If we do end up competing with them, it'll be lower than that.
  6. Yes.
  7. Man City losing!
  8. Aye, it was black and white at the time, first colour TV broadcasts in the UK were in 1967. Colour film did exist though, which has been used by ITV for highlights packages since then. There's some of it here
  9. I always worry more when he's predicted us to win.
  10. No.
  11. Premier League, while we were in League One on -10; League Two and losing against non-league opposition, while we're 2nd in the Premier League. All in 100,000 posts So, are they officially the worst team in Hampshire now?
  12. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/30120317 Sounds hopeful. Still a long long way to go though.
  13. I'm sure we had to twist his arm to get him to go That's the best I've seen England play in ages Also the most I've enjoyed an England game in ages
  14. I actually hadn't realised he was on the pitch.
  15. All experiments for first science phase completed and all data returned, almost a complete success in terms of initial goals for the lander Cost ended up being about 20p per person that paid tax towards it per year (so about £4 per tax payer in total for this mission). Seems pretty reasonable to me! One snag seems to be that one of the experiments to help determine the composition of the comet (APXS), the shutter on it failed to open, so it only returned data about the composition of the shutter. They found that the lander was (contrary to what was initially thought) actually sat on all three lander legs. This let the drill return a sample from the surface, and experiments (COSAC and Ptolemy) ran on both that and samples from the thin dust in the space floating above the surface of the comet, so that should be enough to determine the composition. Almost perfect in terms of power budget from the initial battery to get all that done, they used remaining power to run the CONSERT experiment again, data from that should allow them to triangulate where on the comet Philae ended up. They've shifted it slightly to try and improve the solar power generation, and as it gets closer to the sun it might get more solar power, so we might get some bonus data running stuff again (maybe even get APXS working properly), but even if that's it, it's already an incredible success. The Russians were the first to get into space, the USA were the first to land on the moon, Europe are the first to land on a comet. I've always wondered what it must have been like, seeing the moon landings, realizing new ground was being broken. I've had a little taste of that now
  16. This time last season we were third, but only two points ahead of 5th and three ahead of 8th. Injuries to Boruc and Lovren meant we were quickly swallowed up by the chasing pack. This time, we're four points ahead of third, seven ahead of 5th, nine ahead of Newcastle and Man Utd in 7th and 8th. Other top four contenders are dropping so many points against so called weaker opposition that we're actually starting to think about finishing there instead of just enjoying being there. We've got a bit deeper squad (albeit still vulnerable to a keeper injury) and it's all coming after we wondered whether relegation would possibly be a threat.
  17. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2831289/Morgan-Schneiderlin-holds-contract-talks-Southampton-French-midfielder-hints-exit.html Can only imagine we're selling to him that we ARE (at least potentially) a big club.
  18. Senderos has picked up yet another injury on international duty. Out of the international games, and a doubt for the game against us.
  19. Next they'll be asking their fans to buy lottery tickets for them.
  20. I really hope we can manage to keep hold of Alderweireld. We've only conceded twice while he's been on the pitch for us.
  21. Indeed. It also forgets that against Liverpool, we probably deserved at least a draw, despite 6 players making their debut for us that day. Also, we didn't have Alderweireld or Mane at that time. Since we got Alderweireld, we've only conceded two goals while he's been on the pitch.
