  1. I suspect it's the same as a sell on fee, except that their permission is required for a sale to go through.
  2. What would be REALLY stupid would be if they wasted all their money on the current terminally ill club and had nothing left for a phoenix club.
  3. And all the parachute payments are already gone now, in compromises to get players to leave.
  4. We already knew that, it's taken away automatically when a club goes into admin. Hence the conditions for them getting it back, (and also the reason they haven't got -10 yet, they haven't got the share back yet.)
  5. Chanrai: "We welcome and will assist anyone, including the supporters trust to try and save the club in the coming days." OK, there's one possible way out I can see for them... Chanrai lends the Trust the money to buy Pompey...
  6. Dominoes for the Trust bid now. Parachute payments have already been used to compromise with the players that have left, that alone leave a great honking hole in their financial estimates. Those parachute payments were also needed as security for the short term bridging loan from the council, so that's another hole in their financial estimates. Even if they get past the next few days, I don't see how they can avoid relegation now, crowds will drop off as there'll be nothing entertaining to watch... TV money next year will be less for them, that'll be another kick to the finances... I can't see any way out of this for them now.
  7. We're gonna have to ask Steve about dedicated hosting for just this thread...
  8. So... Birch gave a Tuesday deadline for TBH to leave, or he'd have to start winding up proceedings, right?
  9. My personal view is that he shouldn't compete in the able bodied races. Without those limbs, he wouldn't be winning any races, it's not like taking away any other competitor's shoes. What he can do is amazing and inspirational, and I have the utmost respect for him, but that's what the Paralympics were set up for, for people like him to be able to compete. By letting him compete in the able bodied Olympics, it's like they're trying to pretend he doesn't have a disability, and saying "you're too good for the Paralympics". Paralympics is short for 'Parallel Olympics,' and it's meant to be on an even footing with the Olympics, but the converse of the above is basically saying to all the other Paralympians that they're not good enough. THAT'S the main reason I don't think he should be allowed to compete, the message it sends out about the Paralympics.
  10. Just finished watching it all all over again. Utterly utterly fantastic. *bounce*bounce*bounce*
  11. The trouble is, if you get relegated straight away, that's cutting even more into the trust's (already very optimistic) financial figures. One of the trust's stated conditions for taking over is staying at least at league 1 level for a minimum of three seasons. As ever, it's the finances that still don't add up, and getting relegated would probably mean that the trust DON'T stave off another admin.
  12. Up a creek sans paddle? They were washed back out to sea sans boat a long time ago.
  13. Utterly fantastic afternoon for us
  14. So, Chanrai, who now looks to be cutting his losses and just getting out with whatever he can, who today has admitted that, actually, he WILL let the club be liquidated, by your valuation of current worth, would get more from the club being liquidated than by accepting the Trust's offer? Ok. That's completely disregarding the possibility that he could just sit on it and hope he gets planning permission eventually.
  15. So from what FMPR said, looks like the Trust's bid is based entirely on back of an envelope maths. Being less optimistic... They're only due half of that £14M parachute payment in the next year (assuming that none of it has already been forwarded.) Kanu's legal bid has to fail (and be resolved before 10 August I'd imagine) The other three 'sticky' contracts need to be sorted out. Ground maintenance is an issue. They still owe money to clubs for previous transfers. There's no chance of getting season ticket money up front. A loan from a council already facing a deficit to a company with a shockingly bad credit rating is by no means guaranteed. Chanrai may not accept that offer. Private medical expenses are expected to be paid by the club these days. Training facilities need to be bought or hired. Probably relegation to League 2 will further dent income looking further out. Does the 3M in pledges include HNW individuals or not?
  16. I'm guessing he means the lights the crowd had to turn the seating area into a massive LED display at the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
  17. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-19064531 There's definitely a punchline there somewhere...
  18. I found the opening ceremony utterly awesome.

  20. The link to the story at the top right says Pompey 419. 419 is the code given to money making scams (most commonly from Nigeria) where they ask for you to give a fee to release a far larger amount of money. I have no idea how this has ended up making it onto the site.
  21. I take it no-one at football411 said the bloke's name out loud then?
  22. ... This over closing a thread about whether or not losing a pre-season friendly was putting Adkins' job under threat? Really? Ok.
  23. I reckon that's right back sorted for us for years and years to come now.
  24. Great signing. Enough out there for me to accept it's as good as done, but I'll hold off putting the thread as sticky until it's on the OS.
