  1. At the moment the CB's are not getting the defensive cover from midfield that they've enjoyed in the past. See Toby's comments. So Caulker may well have to accept that 'our way of playing' this year will be different to previous. He's also carrying some extra timber but that will no doubt be shifted now he's settled with us. I guess the uncertainty of where /what he'd be doing in pre-season hasn't helped in that respect. If we get VvD then I can't see him featuring much anyway but let's see.
  2. If Targett isn't ready we could have had Yoshida at LB and Soares at RB. Do we know why or 1st choice RB didn't play?
  3. Going to bid and fighting off an actual bid are pretty different. Would have made for an interesting medical / insurance I guess.
  4. Who was going to sign crocked JRod last year?
  5. We tried that last year.
  6. It's that time in the transfer window....
  7. Don't worry. Whitey Grandad and sadoldgit will be along soon to put a positive spin on things.
  8. So what's the conclusion on this story? Reporter fantasy / agent meddling / complete untruth / some element of truth?

  10. Caulker will be OK. He's a big unit. He probably had a disrupted pre-season what with the uncertainty over his future at QPR.
  11. Looks like Feyenoord are giving him another chance now that they are losing Boetius. Or something like that.
  12. Any news from Guan 2.0 on the transfer update he said he would give today?
  13. He was aiming for the woodwork but miscued badly
  14. I'd imagine any 'guests' would be sitting a little higher up behind you so you'll probably need to turn round.
  15. PA Dugout Twitter confirming nearly a done deal.
  16. Saints are 16th across all leagues for the highest attendance to ground capacity ratio at 93.77%. Chelsea top. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9915096/is-your-ground-too-big-for-you
  17. He's taller than the stadium. I thought he was meant to be vertically challenged?
  18. I could see that happening. Doesn't seem to be quite the queue for his services that was maybe anticipated. At least not at the fee SFC are looking to command.

We've lost out on him too as well as Toby?

Which in real terms is sacked with a pay-off of some description.

I thought he had been quoted or it was implied he was happy to go to either club. Where did he say he wanted to go to Spurs ahead of Saints? (I'm not saying he didn't I just haven't heard this before)

The most frustrating thing though was, that in relative terms, he was no money for such a fantastic player. We should have just offered the market price and got on with things without letting other parties a chance to get involved. Still, without knowing the real ins and outs it's all supposition I guess. Onwards.

We could quite conceivably be fielding an 11 without any English players which is a fairly significant shift from 18 months ago.
  25. On the face of it quite an underwhelming signing but faith in RK and the recruiting team.
