Just watching Fiorentina v Juve . Caceras is playing well for Fiorentina. Saints let him go on a free, and paid 15 million for Hoedt instead. Vintage Les Reed!

It doesn't seem to have reached the UK press yet, but De Grossa's former club, FC Bordeaux went into liquidation last night after the NY hedge fund that owns them pulled the plug. I think Saints should count themselves very lucky that the De Grossa takeover did not happen. On a transfer note though, Costil - Keeper , De Preville No 10 and Sabaly RB/LB ( who is out of contract anyway) would all be good signings in a firesale .

This has been coming ever since they were allowed to keep all the home gate receipts back in the 1980's, stopping clubs like Saints and Ipswich from competing fairly. The Premier League syphons more and more money to the "big" 6 and it is still not enough for them. I don't watch the Champions League any more, since it all went PPV and had a Saturday night final .I certainly would not go near this new league. I can't say that I would boycott it if Saints were in it one year. The amount of money they are throwing at the clubs involved is obscene, If a subscription is £25 a month, you need to sell 10,000,000 if them just to cover the $3 Billion handed out to the big 6. It would be far more interesting if Juve, Inter, Barca and Real went bust, rather than get bailed out like this. Make them work there way back up and give someone else a chance for a few years. ,

Typical semi final, lucky bounce settled it. I imagine the Xg would be o.1 for both sides. Dialo mom for us, coped well after his booking for a foul that 4 Leicester players did straight after and didn't get booked for.

Not sure what Fulham where thinking bringing on Loftus Cheek. Doesn't defend, has no pace and doesn't hold the ball up. Several promising counter attacks broke down with RLC.

Up at 5am to get the first TGV from Angouleme to Paris and then the Eurostar . Had a lively discussion about the game with a United fan who was on his way back from St Etienne in the queue out of St Pancras. He still claimed Stokes was offside. More offside than Gabbiadini perhaps ? Met up with the London Saints at Wealdstone, for a few pints before the game, Talking to a couple of Saints fans at half time, who had missed the first goal buying beers. I only just got back up in time for Gabby's 2nd, so they missed than one too. I did Joke to my mated that I should nip down and buy them another one to see if they could miss the winner too. Wish I had now ! WOOPS Wrong Thread! Should be on the trip to Wembley thread. Fingers crossed for today, 2 mil flattered them earlier this season, so we can but hope.

The thing is though, it was not possible to rule on it, as Bartley was blocking the camera. Not interfering with play, but interfering with VAR. They have no option but to back the officials in those circumstances, however probable it was that they made an error.

Reminded me of Everton and QPR away in 84 before the semi final then. Everyone playing within themselves to make sure they did not get injured. We need to be full on to play Ralph's system. A number 2 to help Ralph make tactical tweeks would also help

Maybe to Burnley, after all they did want to swap him for Jarrow before his ACL

No Kevin Moore was the surveyor . Dowie had a Masters in Rocket Engineering , which I think was the basis of the "ian Dowie, Football Genius " chant.
-
I think they will recall Isaak from Real, but they might well sign the RBS guy as back up
-
For the first 30 minutes Burnley were winning all the 50 50 s.Onced we changed that we were really good . Very pleased with how many chances we created against a solid team like Burnley
-
It was worth getting out f the pub early. just to watch his warm ups .

Sabaly at Bordeaux is quality, can play RB/RWB/LB/LWB free in June
-
Enjoyed that. Everyone put in a shift. Redondo looked much more menacing, let's hope it gives him confidence. The forward movement was great in the 2nd half. Let's hope that continues after the break. It will be different against Burnley's block of 8, but if Mousa, Redder and Armstrong keep pouring forward like that, we have a chance
-
Can't understand the grief some players get. The squad is small, the transfer window is closed so they are our players until June. Get behind the players. If you want to destroy them, wait until June.

Given the financial constraints on French football in general, an Bordeaux in particular, Costil Gk, Sabaly Rb or lb and the striker on loan at Fulham could be worth a look

That and a dead journalist in bin bags in one of their embassies.

Excuse the format, but here are Newcastle's remaining fixtures. Their last two look winnable but the rest could be very tricky. If we get 2 more points from the next 7 games than Newcastle do, then we will be safe. Premier League 21:00 Brighton Newcastle Sunday 4 April 2021 Premier League 15:05 Newcastle Spurs Sunday 11 April 2021 Premier League 13:00 Burnley Newcastle Saturday 17 April 2021 Premier League 16:00 Newcastle West Ham Saturday 24 April 2021 Premier League 16:00 Liverpool Newcastle Saturday 1 May 2021 Premier League 16:00 Newcastle Arsenal Saturday 8 May 2021 Premier League 16:00 Leicester Newcastle Wednesday 12 May 2021 Premier League 20:45 Newcastle Man City Saturday 15 May 2021 Premier League 16:00 Newcastle Sheff Utd Sunday 23 May 2021 Premier 16:00 Fulham Newcastle

When Ralph started out, we played low possession football, not worrying o=about giving away the ball, but concentrating more on winning it back and then moving it quickly towards the opposition goal. I seem to remember some stat about getting a shot away within 7 seconds of winning the ball back. Maybe that is not always possible in such a compressed season, but we need to start doing this again. Lets hope that the lack of midweek games gives us time to get our energy levels up.
-
That was pants. Created next to nothing after 2nd goal. Dialo played well, but other than that we were poor, particularly the subs. We are in a scrap now.
-
Rideout used to get stick because ha wasn't as fast as Rod Wallace, or as skilful as MLT. A player with all those attributes would have been worth more than Van Basten 3 of us moved our season tickets from the West to the East stand because we got fed up with the constant moaning,
-
I think we got away with it last night because the both had black boots on. Any contact was foot to foot, which wasn't so clear as if orange boots had connected with Alan Ball White boots
-
Never put Stephens at CM again, no awareness of what is going on around him. Ralph obviously doesn't trust jankewitz. Good goal for Che. Hope mousa isn't too badly injured.
