  1. Financially were are not that attractive at the moment, as we still have another season of paying, Lemina, Carrillo and Hoedt, as well as Hughes and his posse ( Thanks Les Reed) . Forster and Elyonousi have done enough to attract buyers hopefully, so that will reduce the wage bill a bit, but our wage percentage is still too high.
  2. The sending off was wrong, there was no intent from Djenepo, he was looking away as he ran. The officials just took account of where his foot landed. Hpwever , the same officials thinkg that sliding in late and kicking someone in the chest a just a yellow! I am all for VAR, but it is applied so inconsistently that is not helping.
  3. As I posted earlier, picking that team allows you to switch to a back 3 , using KWP and Djenepo as wing backs, without using a sub. Ralph did this in a recent home gem, Spurs maybe.
  4. Shelvey seems to do well against us, some I think that we should move JWP back into midfield to "****house" him. At the back, it is probably best not to start with a 3 with Vestigaard, as he will struggle if Newcastle don't go long to Joelton, but break with pace instead in the wide areas If Djenepo is OK, I would play a normal back 4 with Vallery or KWP at right back, and then switch to a back 3 if required by moving Bertrand over and using Djenepo as a wing back. like the end of the Spurs home cup game. Not sure who should partner Ings up front, as Long was hiding behind defenders last week and you can't press a team that are happy to give you possession, or get behind a team that play a solid block of 8/9 on the edge of their box.
  5. Bit of a flat performance, like last year. Farting about trying to play out for their first. McCarthy should of punched Haller for the 2nd. Les Read should have signed Antonio from Reading for the 3rd. Nice goal from us, and a few other situations that were overworked. Smallbone did well until a bad square ball, when he had forward options lead to their 2nd. If Djenepo had been available, we might have been able to switch a back 3 with Bertrand when it became clear that Antonio was playing of Haller.
  6. You are only interested in keeping British fish for British fish ****ers, you dirty Skate .
  7. Back on subject, it was another good team performance yesterday. Smallbone looked composed, but faded in the 2nd half and the 2 no 10's, Djenepo and Armstrong, were excellent. Great composure by Armstrong to stoke home that shot after a 70 yard run in the 94th minute. MOM for me was JWP, who did a great job on the dangerman, for the 2nd time this month.
  8. Whoops, JWP for Romeu, or Djenepo
  9. Given that Grealish plays wide left, I think I would go. Mc Carthy Stehphens Bednareck Vestegard Bertrand Romeu PEH Armstrong Djenepo Ings Long I still rate Valery, but he is better going forward than marking , so nullify their main threat
  10. Hansen looks decent, maybe he can step up to the bench while Redmond is out ?
  11. Fork, fork fork. Looks like Smallbone or Obafemi might have to learn to play wide. Just had a look at the Guardian minute by minute report and they said the ref was so bad " The referee’s decisions are becoming positively psychedelic" .
  12. Patchy performance, we were good for most of he first half , but the injury to Boufal hurt us. What the fork was McCarthy doing behind his line for the first goal ? I know the ball shouldn't have reached him, but what use is a keeper inside his own net ? The winner was a good hit, but we had them pinned in a minute before until Long decided to foul his marker ! Forkwit ! Lets hope Redders is fit for next week .
  13. Saints put in a good shift, but Kevin Friend did not. Clear penalty and the go up the other end and score. Even then we had them worried until a hacked clearance by Robertson went straight to Firmino. Good idea to rest Long and Ings for the cup game in mid week.
  14. They were talking about injuries on Totally Football a couple of weeks ago. Apparently Saints have one of the best medical set ups in the country and are very good at monitoring players so that they avoid muscle strains etc. They contrasted it with Man U and Rashford, as well as Pogba having his own people book an op. They said that Utd hadn't upgraded their Medical facilities since Fergie left. Maybe it is not just luck.
  15. I think we have to be compact at the back, like at Palace, Leicester and Chelsea as Liverpool are very good on the counter. So for me Mc Carthy JWP Stephens Bednarek Bertrand Djenepo Romeu PEH Redmond Ings Long Keep a solid back 8 and try long balls up the channels to Long to get their full backs looking over their shoulder
  16. Another great performance last night, particularly from JWP and Armstrong. Looking back at the Wolves game, we were victims of our own success a bit. Cedric and Armstrong kept Troaore quiet, so he switched sides, where Redders and Bertrand did the same. Hence the half time switch up front . In hindsight, maybe we should have brought on Romeu to shield the CBs. or maybe told Bertrand to stick on him and let Redmond look after Doherty.
  17. It was nice to be top ten for 10 minutes, now we are looking over our shoulders again. I can see why Bednarek dived in for the first Wolves goal, as the ball was closer to him than Traoure, but that didn't account for the difference in pace. If Stephens hadn't dived I, Cedric would have screened it back to McCarthy, and as for the 3rd goal Stephens blew the offside trap, and then everyone went zonal, leaving the one threat unmarked.
  18. Watched Mallorca stuff Valencia this lunchtime. Baba looked very good in central midfield CDAJFU.
  19. When the commentator said that it was only Bednarek's 2nd goal I thought "********, his first was in a 3.2 loss from 2 nil up, and so it proved. Wolves were great once they scored, but if Long's header was the other side of the post they would have folded. Traore is some player now. It would have been nice to be top half for a week
  20. If Walker Peters is that good, I would have expected him to be capped by England already, as he has made the pre-requisite 6 starts for Spurs !
  21. Brilliant to a man, again. Fantastic through ball from Che for the winner. Well chuffed
  22. He is quality, I have seen him a few times, once with a mate who has a UEFa B license, and we both thought he was the best player on the pitch, playing behind Malcom. He plays on the right, but has played left back at the World Cup. Seems to be out of favour at Bordeaux as Sousa prefers wing backs.
  23. Yet another great team performance. MOM to Jack Stephens for me, but they were all great. Ings goal was worthy of Le Tiss !
  24. Great performance again, Adams may not have scored, but he has a lot of other attributes to his game. MOM's for me Armstrong and Redmond , especially in the 2nd half. Kings of the South Coast again !
  25. I agree , they won't be in our price range, but given the limited number of decent CB's that are likely to be available, it would spike the price on anything else half decent. Particularly in a short window like January.
