  1. Bringing on Long for Austin was a waste of a sub. We went from playing with 10 and a half men to playing with 10.01 ( Long did get one useful touch in injury time) . As for the other subs, it just gave Everton control of the midfield and Let Wallcot and Sigurdson play one twos through our back line at will. To be fair to Hughes, Koeman used to do pile on the forwards if we were losing sometimes, and it allways had the same effect, no shape and no possesion equals no goal threat.
  2. Got better as the game went on, but the subs were terribble. Pierre needed to come on for one either Lemina or Romeu who were both on red cards. This meant that we lost the midfield after we scored. Long should only come on if everyone else in the squad is sick. He offered even less than Charlie Austin. On the poasitive side ings looks good. We need to work out who partners Vestegard and the build from there. PS Lee Mason gave us nothing. ripping someones shirt with your follow through has to be dangerous play !
  3. I think you are being confused by the "Champions League " label. UEFA are moving towards the model where qualification is based on TV ratings, not actual league position. It would have been interesting to see what fudge they would have come up with if Real Madrids slump had continued last season.
  4. True dat! I thought Lemina was everywhere today, considerng all the srick he got last week for not being 100% after tonsillitis. Good attacking substiutions and Stephens looked OK as right back cover, could have scored, but needs to work on his crossing .
  5. The best of the rest are usually the teams from the bottom 14 that make a good start, as we did under poch and Koeman. If they can extend that start until xmas, like Leicester did, then it might get interesting, but otherwise it is just a race for 7th. No-one could catch Arsenal last year when they only one a single away game in 2018 !
  6. 3 at the back gives us no space for creative players, plus Hoedt and the giant Dane look too sloe to play in a back 3. We don't have a right back, with only a week left to find one. Romeo seems to be the only player capable of staying in positions to sheild the central defence. Long got into some good positions thatwould have led to goals, if he was a profeesional footballer, and Austin was the complete oppossite. We should only play 3 at the back against a 2 man attack as it robbs us of a creative player. If we are to create anything Armstrong , Gabbi and Ely need to start.
  7. I have been trying yo work out why Ted Mac Dougall is playing no 10. Austin has been that bad. No movement, can't trap the ball, can't find a red shirt and a complete waste of space outide the penalty box. Gabbi and Armstrong are our only threat. No pace, no artisrty , no fgkin hope with that line up.
  8. Love the parquet courts song. About 2 months into the last 2 seasons, I thought we should run out to A New Dawn Fades by Joy Division !
  9. He plays very much in the same position as Wallcott and Lookman, so they are not thin on the ground there either.
  10. The next England game, is on ITV, which not only means Clive Tydlesy, but also that England have a terrible record in tournament ganes that are on ITV ( Belgiom, Iceland .....) .
  11. If cedric or Bertrand leave then we should go for Sabaly from Bordeaux, plays Right back for Bordeaux and Left Back for Senegal. Seen him a few times and he is a great modern wing back.
  12. That must be why none of his teammates went to console hime after the game, in case concusion is contageous.
  13. Maybe we can interest Liverpool in Foster, as he s[ecialise in saving shots that are straight at him, unlike their current keeper.
  14. Pretty much this, but if Cedric is off then I would keep Pied as a back up. I can't see many takers for Carrillo, but perhaps Hughes can get him integrated into the squad as a Crouch option, as he has the whole summer to get people to practice crossing the ball to his head, something that wew only managed once, away at Burnley.
  15. Think the team picks itself, unless Hughes decides on having an extra body in midfield and plays JWP instead on Stephens. If Redmond had scored his header in the 96th minute to equalise , everyone would be buzzing, and saying that we are out of the bottom 3 and that our fate is in our own hands. You just know that it is going to be a draw, so that the West Brom narrative continues.
  16. F AAAAAAAAAAAAA C K Didn't deserve that, but bertrand should have just put it in row z
  17. Long for Austin as it is away, and possibly PEH or JWP instead of redmond . Another stressful week.
  18. Monaco. I think part of it is having enough good players to get noticed. Stoke for instance kept hold of Bojan and Shaquiri because they have Tadic levels of consistency . If we stay up, by some miracle, only Bertrand,Cedric and Lemina would have a good enough reputation to move upwards, wether they have earned it this season or not!
  19. Bang to rights on that one, I put lemina in because PEH was subbed yesterday, but our best forward passing usualy comes from PEH. As for calling them Boscombe, I do it becuase my great uncle had the record number of appearances for them when they were Bournemouth and Boscombe.
  20. On todays evidence, Long should only be used in away games that need a lot of his "running around" skills Mc Carthy Bednarek Yoshida Hoedt Cedric/jwp Romeu Lemina Bertrand Redmond Tadic Austin Just get the ball into the box
  21. The only way Saints could get any sort of justice from this is if the ban were to start in the 43rd miute of the Semi final, so Alonso misses the same game time against us .
  22. You know the old saying, It is always darkest just before ... the Apocalypse !
  23. Gutted. For the first hour they did everything right, but that ten minute spell was dreadful. Bednarek did well for his debut, and Tadic had a great first half . Will we have the consolation on Monday of the player whio crossed for the first goal being retrospectivly banned. How the **** did Dean pretend he didn't see that !
  24. And Ashley Young gets away with a potential leg breaker on Aguero, Kane gets a goal without touching the ball. If you ddn't lnow better, you could think that these commitees were afraid of the big 6 ......... DUH!
  25. Only saw the 2nd half, but there was a lot more commitment on display today, and we worked Cech more than any othe keeper this season. Cedric and Tadic were much better today, and JWP was looking forward more often, rather than playing safe and backwards. It was a shame that Long couldn't lift that ball over the defender when Austin was free in the middle at 2 2 , but if we can keep that belief, there is a small chance that we might pick up a win somewhere. Mind you , I can cope with the despair, it's the hope tha kills you.
