That midfield was so lightweight, and then when you throw Holgate into the mix...... . The Sunderland lad they got from West Ham ran the midfield and was like Wanyama on a good day. Against Leicester we need something more solid. Bazuna KWP H-Bellis Bednarek Manning Charles Downs Sulemana Alcarez Fraser Adams I wish there were alternatives to Baz and Manning, but there aren't. We need 2 weeks to work on defensive shape . On of the drills on the video this week seemed to be forwards running at defenders with no protective midfield cover. Seemed to be a blueprint for todays game.

Everton have someone named Dobbin playing for them tonight. Sounds like a right Donkey!
-
I thought JWP would be have been an obvious replacement for Milner, right footed, high work rate etc , but the scouses knew better.

The man is a complete Charley hUNT

They looked lively against Ipswich, particularly the big guy up front. If I was Brentford I would sign him up, hopefully before Saturday, as he would be a great understudy to Toney.
-
He would if his agent was Willy MCKIE

Blimey David, you are being g a bit harsh there. He was excellent today, especially considering the booking which could have been a penalty. What sort of review did you give Steve Williams at Pompey, Graham Baker at home to Blackpool or Matt Oakley at Goodison. Good debut, tidy player.
-
He won't be playing Saturday, or any time soon. I got Salmonella once, I was off work for a few weeks, and wasn't even well enough to go and watch a home game at the Dell, let alone train or play football. It was the only home game I missed in about 30 years, the 6-3 Ostesntaad hat-trick against Man U!

Hands of Zubamendi ! Real Sociadad have already lost Sorloth and David Silva.

I can't see both Grimes and Downes coming in. It would block smallbone, which is against our MO

We all thought Mark Wright was a make weight in the Keith Cassells transfer. Soon proved us wrong, pinging the ball all over the park in a friendly at Ashton Gate. Just because he hasn't started at Arsenal yet doesn't mean much. The young French CB that was one of their stars last season had to spend time on loan in France before he was given a chance. Let's not write him off, just because he is young. Having said that though, Small had a stellar reputation when we signed him, and he is pants.

After the Gabbiadini offside, I was all in favour of Var. 2 strangers in the same row at Wembley had a picture on their phones a minute later showing that he was onside. However, the way it was implemented in the uk was mental. Danny Ings having that goal disallowed for a black armband ffs. It should only be for big errors, like Gabbi. Maybe a 20 second rule, if you can't prove an error in that time then hard luck.

The one thing we got right last year was sending Tella and Smallbone out on loan. Both immense at this level.

Thanks for that, a few of my usual sites have disappeared. I looked at the legal route but Bein are supposed to have the rights but the game doesn't show on their site, and would be blocked of the Saints live stream.
-
Thanks for that, will have a look .
-
Anyone know who has the EPL streaming rights in France ? The EPL site says it is BEIN sports, but the aren't showing the game on their listings.

Ben Shiva, Tel Aviv and the home country of Eyal Berkowitz might take exception to that !

Never to Saudi is bizarre. But maybe we can offload some of our duffers there if they are trying to fill the league with Europeans.

The gate receipts thing was mid 80 s, way before the priemer league , so I really can't see how Saints being in the top flight when it became the Pl is in any way relevant. We just joined by default, they would have invited Wolves or some other club with a bigger ground if they could. Really not sure why you are so angry about my post. I don't think that there is anything factually incorrect, but fill your boots.
-
Change the way gate receipts were distributed so that they, Man U, etc got to keep them all. Previously the away teams got 1/3 of the money. That is how Saints paid for Keegan. Old Trafford and Highbury were suddenly full for the visit of Saints, and Saints got their cut. When that changed, the big clubs all got a lot richer. Not that that has stopped them all from wanting to make the financial gap bigger and bigger. Does make me smile when they complain about City doing it to them.

If you live overseas you get the 3 pm games. I had a look at the Shef Utd site and it was £40 A MONTH, and even then you don't get the matches that are screened where you a living. It was £10 a month just for commentary. Not like the old days when I could listen for free on the club website.

Schrodinger 's relegation!

Quite enjoyed watching Saints try to attack without looking over their shoulders all the time. Gives you a bit of hope, as long as Alcarez and Sulemana are still with us next season. Although you have to think that if the game mattered in any way, Fabinho would have taken Sulemana out on the way to his second, and someone would have done the same to the nipper right at the end. HTH -15 points - 13 goal difference. Match day -15 points and -14 goal difference ( match day was the one that was a goal out somewhere. A further comparison between the 2 seasons . 21/22 Doubles for Doubles against None Liverpool,Wolves 22/23 Doubles for Doubles against Chelsea, Leicester Man City, Newc Utd, Palace, Fulham, Brentford, Brighton, Wolves, Villa, Forest. That really is a list of shame, 9 teams out of 19 that we didn't get a single point from. At least poor old Minsk, RIP, didn't have to witness the pathetic end of the dreadful season.

Five minutes of the 2nd half were fun, although my stream froze when Theo scored and came back after the Var decision. Won't miss Var, even though I thought it was a great idea after the Gabbiadini hat-trick denier at Wembley. Nice to see Tino back. hope he can stay injury free. HTH -16 points - 14 goal difference. Match day -16 points and -17 goal difference. Last up is Liverpool at home. A tame 2.1 defeat, while the matchday equivalent was a 4 1 loss at Leicester. Must have made an error somewhere, as the 2 totals are a one goal out . Oh well not as far out as Rasmus's spreadsheets.

Looking at Aribo sat on the bench, not a trace of sweat on him. Lazy lazy sod.
