  1. Match Day 18: What a complete shit show! The Forest keeper could have played the 90 with his hands in his pockets ! Our 0-1 defeat by Forest leaves our comparisons as follows... Match Day: -8 points; -9 GD H-2-H: -11 points; -4 GD The equivalent match in 2004-2005 was a 5 -1 defeat at Tottenham so -1 point and -4 goal difference on that. Everton up next, by which time we will have been knocked out of both cups, so we will be able to "Concentrate on the League" . One of our worst away grounds to visit, both from a results point of view and an away section viewpoint as well. Last season we scored first, to a great A Armstrong finish, only to collapse in the 2nd half to a 3-1 defeat. Match day 19 last year was Brentford at home, a cracking 4 -1 win. I have to admit I don't see the likelihood of either a win or an Armstrong goal. Matchday 19 in our last relegation season was a 0 0 draw at home to Charlton.
  2. I will keep it going for you, although I can't remember if we got a result when I filled in before. The comparison is soon bad this season! Almost makes you want to do a comparison with the last time we were relegated.
  3. If we weren't looking at a winger who had had already scored 8 goals in the Championship, our scouting department would want shooting. The fact that we can get him for free makes it a no brainer.
  4. I went to the Bournemouth and DCC impressed with his leadership, it was the first time I had heard a Centre half talking since Fonte left. Salisu is obviously not going to extend his contract, so needs to be sold ìn the next 2 windows. If he goes , we would need cover so I could see Bednarek coming back as cover, but I am not sure that he would have a good attitude.
  5. If the guy who does the half time playlist is reading this , can I suggest Joy Divison - A New Dawn Fades. We are worse than we were under Ralph . Don’t know why we picked a Championship manager.
  6. 2 points from the last 5 games. I think that the chuckle brothers could be in trouble, especially as whichever manager wins the World Cup tomorrow will be looking for a new challenge!
  7. Team goal, Channon against Liverpool. Solo goal, Steve Williams against Norwich, picked up a pass from Keegan on the half way line, beat five players and then curled it round the keeper. Total football goal, Danny Wallace against Liverpool. Left back Dennis crosses from left wing touchline, back post header from a centre back , Mark Wright for Wallaces overhead kick. Insane individual brilliance, MLT against Newcastle .
  8. Looks like they are paying fake fans to celebrate the world cup in Qatar. Looks like there could be a lot of Nepalese builders, earning a bit of extra cash and seeing a lot of games.
  9. Watched this and Tella looked a step up from AA, although that is not much of a statement after yesterday. Diaz didn't lok great but it was hard to judge as Blackburn were clueless
  10. It was even better than the Long moment, it felt like the only time we got in their half. Katalinic had a blinder
  11. No updates on club website, no commentary, no streams. It is like being in the age of ceefax. 1 nil down to Wed's before we have even had a shot ffs
  12. Sandra's old man sold our best player to buy dross like quasie, camera, Bernard and his boy, who unfortunately only had 45 minutes in him. We would have been much better off keeping Beattie and playing Oakley, Svenson and Le Saux
  13. Well, it has worked that way for the last 4 Prime Ministers !
  14. I am guessing, but I think we may be the first team to come up with a negative XG. Other than the 2 CB s everyone was shite . Never got a grip in midfield, maybe Lyanco might have improved it, but I doubt it. No positive from that at all
  15. Really shite game , decided on this week's interpretation of the offside law. They are slightly better than us, but that is not saying much
  16. That tackle on Sterling when they were 3 on 1 was ridiculous! He was picked up in the Guardian as one of their transfers to watch this season. Normally the Saints youngsters they pick out on there do nothing. Not this time. He will be a superstar. Can already see him at Bayern, or one of the big Spanish clubs, he is that good.
  17. After a number of appeals process, and thanks in part to Saints signing Mara, Bordeaux were reinstated in League 2 on Tuesday. Their first game is tonight, at home to Valencienes, and to celebrate, all tickets are free, and season ticket holders get a free drink in the Stade ( non alcoholic beer due to French regs ). Come watch Bordeaux v. Valenciennes - it's on us! | Girondins.com
  18. I was volunteering in the press box for that one. Sat right in line with the Bale free kick and thought, blimey that keepers got his angles all wrong for that one. The Stadium is owned by Bordeaux council, and they are prepared to waive the €5M a year rent to help the club survive this year. Apparently the running costs were one of the reasons they lost so much money. They had a great team, and won L1 at the old ground, but by the time they moved to the new ground, the team had been sold, and they never really invested in a new team to fill the new ground. If they do survive this year, they will only open the lower tier .
  19. Saw Bordeaux play once this season, they were dreadful, but then their worst player in that game, Adli, has just signed for AC Milan, so probably best not to judge anyone on the basis of that. ( just checked, and he was not in the squad that day) Bordeaux are up at the appeal court today to see if they can avoid the L3 equivalent League . One of the factors was being able to raise €14 Million in players sales. Looks like we have helped them to achieve that. If Bordeaux do avoid an extra relegation because of this, I will definitely ware a Saints shirt next time I go to watch them. We may have saved their bacon.
  20. Thanks for that, just checked ITN and it was the start of the 70/71 season, so I would have been nearly 9 . Mind you, someone posted a photo of a 3 nil win at Ipswich in 84 on the Archive last week. I went to every single game, home and away that season and have no recollection of the game at all .
  21. I think the only way to compete on the wages other teams would pay is to give him huge bonuses everytime he plays above his age group, eg for the u23s, more if he makes the match day squad and even more if he gets on the pitch. Show him that he can make money and progress his career with us.
  22. I must have been 6 or 7 at the time, but I am sure I remember a double sending off at the Dell, in the late 60's. Maybe not, maybe it was just Sumerbee getting stick as he came up the tunnel, or maybe it was another game altogether. I just checked Duncan, and your book( 1885-1987) doesn't seem to have stats for sending's off. Was there ever a double sending off at the Dell in the late 60's ?
  23. Getting a bit MLG there ! Yes red cards came in later, but are now very much in the vocabulary. A few years ago, I watched a full replay of the 66 World Cup final, and screamed no at the TV when Banks went to pick up a back pass.
  24. One of my first footballing memories is seeing Dennis Hollywood and Sumerbee walking up the tunnel together after their traditional red cards .
  25. French news today having a big review of the problems at the Stade de France. The French police say 30,000 fans without tickets or with forgeries trying to get in. The panelists blamed the police for their reaction. Liverpool fans had paper tickets, where as the Madrid fans had electronic tickets, so no forgeries. I am amazed at how bad the organisation from Uefa was. I was a volunteer for the Euros in 2016, and the preparation was immense. I can't understand why the stewardship was so inadequate this time.
