Held off writing this until after the Grimsby game in case there was something positive to put in it. Well we don't need to worry about hope anymore as the team and the club is hopeless, almost to a man. Leeds away was pathetic, didn't lay a glove on them and yesterday we did the same at home to a league 2 side. H-2-H: -9 points 0 GD . Match Day: -13 points -17 GD This is getting so bad that I may need to study Large Negative Number Theory to be able to keep up with it. On to the next one, which I don't think I can even be bothered to look for a dodgy stream for. Last season we drew 2 all with Leicester, scoring 2 goals at home eh, remember that feeling. No me neither. The corresponding home game was a 2 nil home win over Norwich, our last win before the terrible run we are on started. In theory, after this one the head to head can't get much worse as we only took another 5 points all season.

Let's just forfit the rest of the season, take the 3 nil defeats and move on. Get ready for the Championship, and start of by laying off the marketing department. If I see one cheery email asking me to come to the Leicester game , I am more likely to get a ferry back from France just to smack them.

What the fuck are the handball rules these days ? Compare that one to the 2 West Ham ones that haven't been given lately, it makes no sense whatsoever. Shit attempt at a header, but his arm was not exactly in an unnatural position. Having said that, we are still shit, apart from Lavia. I would imagine he is regretting not having tall Paul on the bench now.
-
Same flat performance with a better press conference. Didn't do anything in the first half, bar the shot from Tall Paul. 2nd half got better, until the substitutions lost us the midfield. ELY was especially bad today, his pass completion stats must be single figures. We need to work out how to get Sulemana on the ball a lot more. At least we can relax now, that week of hope was quite stressful. Ps that goal was just awful

I can still remember his commentary for our home game against Everton on an icy pitch in 78 or 9 . Graham Baker scored one of his trademark volleys from a cleared corner "little Graham Baker ! ". I could be wrong, it may have been his debut against Blackpool. Great commentator, full of facts about the teams and the complete obosite of the commentator who did the Chelsea game last week.

Saturday was a breath of fresh air. So much to like about the way the team applied itself, and the confidence exuded by Ruben in the dugout. H-2-H: -8 points +1 GD . Wow a positive goal difference! Match Day: -10 points -14 GD . This weekend corresponds to the 2 nil home win over Everton, whilst we where still in the middle of the last good run under Ralph. The corresponding match at Elland Road was a 1 all draw, courtesy of another JWP free-kick. As someone famous was said, maybe it was Shelly in the sit-com, "It's the hope that kills you". Long may it continue.

After watching football for over 50 years and reading the occasional book on tactics, I never knew that it was more difficult to play against 10 men ! Learn something new every day ! Just watched it again on MOTD and have to say that, as crap as we were and even allowing for the fact that we played completely the wrong tactics for a team with one extra man, the winner should have been disallowed for the push on AMN that caused the collision, and that Lyanco could have stopped the shot if had not turned side on to it. H-2-H: -11 points; -2 GD Match Day: -12 points; -15 GD Matchday 23 was the 1 all draw at Old Trafford, while the head top head at Chelsea was heading for a draw until JWP got sent off by VAR, ending up in a 3 1 defeat. Let's hope for a no manager bounce.
-
1 nil up against 10 men . A proper team would keep possession, move the ball around. As someone else said , keep someone wide on both flanks and stretch the 10 men, especially when both their fullbacks were on a yellow card. The last 30 minutes were dreadful. Every substitution made us worse. Enjoyed the new boys though, those 3 and a decent manager would make us worth watching for the rest of the season would make us worth watching, although it is too late to stay up .

Does the DJ at St Mary's still do his amusing mix at half-time ? Missed it at my last home game against West Ham as I was in the concourse. If so, I have a few requests . No we don't, we pay them till the end of their contract on a regular basis if they are still unemployed. That is why Mark Hughes disdisappeared from the public eye until his contract with us was paid in full. Then he was back doing media work and then back into management.

All of the talk about his stats in the Championship, which Rasmus thinks is the 6 best league in Europe, just prove that he was good at that level, and good at working with players at the lower end of that league, price wise. There is a world of difference between how you can treat a group of players who are just happy not to be in League one, to dealing with International Footballers, either at Saints or at Stoke . I have a friend who is brilliant with engines, two stroke and diesel vans in particular. If I had an old van that I wanted to get back on the road, Ben is your man. If I had a Formula One engine to fix, not so much ! My point is that the Stoke experience should have been a clear warning that Jones struggles to communicate with players from the higher end of the food chain, so it should have been an obvious red flag stopping a premier League appointment.

Last season the 3 nil defeat at Brentford was the final straw for Ralph for most of those present. This season was even worse, and the post match comments have put the internet into meltdown. If it wasn't for Salisu it would have been 6 nil. H-2-H: -11 points; -2 GD Match Day: -9 points; -13 GD Matchday 22 was the 3 2 win at Spurs, the last proper performance we have seen from Saints. The head to head was a one nil loss to Wolves, with the inevitable come back goal from Jiminez. I am a bit of a Mathematician by training and I have spotted a definite trend here. We are doing worse than last season. Quite a lot worse. Maybe, after Rasmus has digested Saturdays XG stats, he might start paying attention to the actual League table.
-
We haven't had any levels to slip from since the 3 2 win at spurs
-
You obviously didn't watch Everton earlier. Very we.l organised , every player new what he was doing. All in the space of a week. Jones has had nearly 3 months in which every player, bar Salisu, has got worse. There is no system, no clue.

Southampton(1) 1-2 (3)Newcastle - League Cup Semi Final - Second Leg

Turned my stream off. Absolutely dog shit. Playing 3 at the back doesn't suit us, and didn't suit us before, with Bednarek playing. Giving a championship full back his debut, while leaving the Mom from Sunday on the bench, and moving your best rb to Lb?? That is on a par with branfoot moving Le Tiss to left wing to accommodate Perry Groves. The man is a born again, Welsh mining fuckwitt. -
He has been free to talk to clubs outside of France about next season for the best part of a month. Maybe he didn't get the offers he was expecting. 6 months with us could be a way for him to get the move he thinks he deserves.
-
Aribo was running alongside the guy who scored their goal 25 yards out and just let him run. He was yards behind him when he scored . Lazy, lazy bastard. Should never play midfield again. Only good point from today was that the left side looked much better with a left back playing.
-
Bednarek couldn't get a game for Villa, so I think there could be a shortage of takers, but DCC and Orsic could get buyers if they do well.
-
Went to bed hoping for a striker, or a pacey inside forward. Instead we get right back cover, and maybe a new Lew Chatterly. Completely underwhelmed, especially if this leads to him trying 3 at the back again ! Feels a bit like Xmas in the Undertones song "What's with Terry ", " A Johnny 7 or a cuddly toy ? no ! Horned rimmed glasses, fit for a boy! "

We will get a lot of money, from the sale of KWP, ABK, Lavia, JWP and Alcarez, but most of the should probably be used to pay of the Covid debt. Salisu , Adams and Tella will also raise some cash , and Elyonousi will go on a free transfer. Lyancos agent thinks he can get a move to Brazil and Willy will be state pension age by then. Theo will retire. This will leave us with a squad of: - GK Bazunu, McCarthy RB Liveramento ( until he proves his fitness, hopefully), Payne LB Perraud, Larios CB DCC, Bednarek, Simeo, Stephens MF Diallo,Smallbone, Finnegan AMF Arribo, S Armstrong ,Pearce, Dibbling, Wing Djenepo, Orsic, Edozie, Orsic Forward Mara, A Armstrong, Ballard . There is the basis of a squad there, with a need for midfield reinforcements, a Goal keeper and of course, a Centre Forward. We will have parachute payments, but we will be lucky to sell 10,000 season tickets. Many people I know are no longer willing to fork out that amount of money when there have only been 3 or 4 decent home games a season since Koeman left 6 years ago! I can see it going as badly as last time, although you would hope they can do better than signing Denis Wise, Hjato and the other Willy McKay clients that we bought. The most important thing will be to get Payne, Pearce , Dibbling and Ballard involved, or else the Academy players will walk out.

Jimmy Jay Morgan not to sign a pro contract at club!

Just we you thought you couldn't feel any worse about Saints. -
A New dawn fades! That was completely shit, bar a 2 minutes spell in the 2nd half. Last year we beat Villa 1.0 with a first time shot from A Armstrong. This year he hit the keeper. Matchday 20 was a the 3 .1 loss at Wolves, so our comparative goal difference goes up by one, Yippie ! I'm sure that will set the jackpot off in one of Rasmus's spreadsheets. H-2-H: -11 points; -2 GD Match Day: -8 points; -10 GD Matchday 21 was a good 1. 1 draw at home to the champions Man City. The head to head against Brentford was a complete no show, like a trailer for this season and a 3 nil defeat. Someone is going to have fun next year trying to equate Blackburn with Newcastle to work the equivalent teams out !
-
I think the club manages to sell itself to players with the idea of "give us 2 good years and then we will sell you on to a CL club" . An extra years delay in their career is not going to attract the likes of ABK. Obviously Salisu being injured for a lot of his first season put a spanner in the works. Maybe we should have tried to extend him then. Once he had proved himself, that ship has sailed. I would still much rather have ABK and Salisu for 2 years than Hoedt for 5.
-
Well what do I know? Not much apparently. A great week with 3 fantastic, and deserved results. JWP and DCC were immense yesterday, and everyone put a shift in. The comparison now reads. Match Day: -8 points; -11 GD H-2-H: -8 points; 0 GD Next up is a tough match against Villa, who have won at Spurs and Brighton recently. Last year we beat them 1.0 with a first time shot from A Armstrong. Matchday 20 was a 3.1 loss at Wolves, with the only positive being the Ward Prowse rocket free kick.

That is a bollocks decision, Rushford was shielding the ball
