  1. Birch said: ‘We’ve already had an incredible response from fans for season tickets, which demonstrates once again the strength of the club’s support." 4,500 renewed so far. I seem to remember that following Markus & NC's takeover and Saints exiting administration, 8,500-9K renewed in a matter of days fully in the knowledge that we'd be starting the new season with minus 10 points. Pretty sure we went on to sell about 13K for the season too. Wonder what the world's 'bestest' fans have to say about this?
  2. The Old Shades - Trafalgar Square/Whitehall - http://www.faucetinn.com/old-shades/ The Ship & Shovell - Charing Cross - http://shipandshovell.co.uk/ The Sherlock Holmes - Northumberland Street - http://www.sherlockholmespub.com/ 3 top boozers, all within about 2 minutes walk of eachother.
  3. Renewed block 36 row OO
  4. Seem to remember Beattie starting for England whilst with us? It was a game at Old Trafford but I cannot recall the opposition.
  5. Very tough start but also glad to be getting the toughest game of the lot out the way first. Whilst I don't believe we have much of a chance, if any of getting a result against City I reckon it could be the best time to play them. They have plenty of players involved at the Euros, whilst we obviously have none so there may be a bit of fatigue and rustyness for them whilst we should be very fresh. We obviously had a very good pre-season last summer in terms of build up and fitness, so same again this summer hopefully and if we can come out of the traps as sharp as we did against Leeds last season then we could at least make a game of it. I do fancy us to cause a shock in one of the first 3 games against the big sides. October & November looks to be the crucial period in the first half of the season where we will really need to pick up some points.
  6. 1. Man City 2. Man Utd 3. Chelsea 13. Saints 18. West Brom 19. Norwich 20. Wigan
  7. Cheers! Still leaves about 7 weeks or so until the first weekend then.
  8. Also interested in this but for different reasons such as booking rail tickets in advance. Don't they normally announce the TV fixtures up until about Christmas, not sure how long before the start of the season this is done though.
  9. Spurs - Because of him, and I have always generally disliked them. Man Utd - Obviously. Everton - Friend rivalry, and I'll always struggle to forget Bent's last second equaliser.
  10. What's the betting the club will charge an admin fee for those who wish to move seats!
  11. Shame really, as I quite fancied him to take Villa down next season.
  12. Just taking a look at the starting line up and subs bench for the 1st game of the season against Millwall in 09/10, and it really does hit home how far we have come since then. Davis; Murty, Thomas, Perry, Harding; Lallana, Wotton, Schneiderlin, James; Saganowski, Paterson. Subs: Gillett, Bialkowski, Holmes, Pulis, Thomson, Gobern & Lancashire.
  13. When you consider that he was only appointed manager here what, 2 or 3 weeks before the start of the season and with the team he had to start that season against Millwall on the opening day, he did a very good job here IMO. He rebuilt our side and he takes a fair bit of credit for where we are now for me. Can't really grumble at many of his signings for us, and of course he signed the goal machine. Very good manager, and congratulations to him for what he's achieved at Newcastle - breaking into the top 4/5 in the Premier League is no mean feat.
  14. The team I follow abroad, AS Roma, have recently have their website re-done. http://www.asroma.it/ - I like that one a lot, one of the best around imo. Created by an American company. Hopefully we'll get a new site to alongside the new ticket system & website.
  15. Would be great to see this happen. Been saying for years they need to do something with the waterfront surrounding the stadium. Obviously years off yet but hope they put some quality bars & restaurants down there.
  16. Bet 365 apparently. Not checked it out myself yet.
  17. Can't remember who he got it with, will ask tomorrow. I too thought it was very generous.
  18. A work colleague put a bet on last week, Lambert to be the top English goal scorer in the Prem at the midway point in the season. 465-1. Worth a couple of quid certainly!
  19. I found this on in an article on Derby County's OS, the season they were promoted to the Premier League. "Derby County have an obligation to make 15% of the 33,500 stadium capacity available to away fans for home cup matches and 10% for home league games. FA Premier League rules stipulate 5% of capacity has to be made available to home fans who are not season ticket holders and the overall capacity is also reduced by segregation measures and facilitating live TV broadcasts." So in our case, Capacity - 32,689 5% of capacity for general sale to home supporters - 1,634 5% of capacity for away supporters - 3,269 Approx 350-500 seats for segregation. So the maximum number of season tickets we could sell would be around 27,200. I seem to recall we had 22K STH the season after we reached the Cup Final, and I think it will be between 20-22K for next season.
  20. Agree with all of the comments on here. If the FA want to put any value back into FA Cup Final day then they should: A) Ensure it is the last domestic game of the season. B) Make it a 3pm Saturday kick off. C) Not allow Premier League, or any other domestic matches to be played on the same day. D) Not play the Semi Finals at Wembley. Move them back to Old Trafford and Villa Park. Or even the Emirates could be used now. But they won't, sigh.
  21. Two from the 2003 run to the final for me. 4-0 win against Spurs at St Mary's, we gave them a proper footballing lesson that night and arguably Saints best ever performance at St Mary's to date. Kevin Davies 89th minute equaliser against Millwall in the 4th Round, you could sort of feel that maybe it was our year for a cup run when that went in.
  22. Think renewals behind the goal or wings will be £550-£600 and new buy £650-£700.
  23. There's been so many top away days, too many to mention but I've tried to whittle down my nominations to 6: Derby (Play Off Semi) - Despite the result, the rollercoaster of emotions that night are unrivalled. Plus there being about 5K Saints fans there too made for an awesome atmosphere. Hartlepool (First season) - One of those that had to be done. My words that night were, 'When we are finally back in the Premiership, we'll look back at Hartlepool away on a Tuesday night with a wry smile, reflecting on how far we had fallen, and how far we had to come back to get to where we belong' Leyton Orient (Both seasons) - Having 1 whole side of the stadium on both occasions was great. Plymouth (last season) - We got promoted (well, virtually anyway), good train journey down and an even better day when we arrived. Palace (this season) - 6K Saints fans, and SRL edging us that little bit closer to promotion.
