Just been thinking why Hughes wouldn’t be 1st on Reed’s list..... Carillo nowhere the first team and neither is Boufal two of the highest capital outlays.... Now this looks a bit crap here for Reed if neither are considered good enough..... Hughes as we know does not suffer fools and Reed looks a very poor decision maker if he does allow Hughes to recognise the frailties of two very expensive failures, one being a record signing for gazillions....(Who really is bloody useless btw) Could be that Reed has an agenda here and it’s based on his ego and not the best manager for the job.... Lets hope not ......

Have to say your post is scarily close to the truth.... I smell major prevarication ‘again’ and another complete cock up.... Hughesy is a great fit for our club - give him the bloody job, it is very important to show Hughes we have confidence in him and he is on board.... What’s to think about? Who if anyone would be a better proposition right now... We haven’t seen this much togetherness in the club since Poch and haven’t seen the players this motivated since him... How on earth can you say that ? Based on what evidence would you place Carillo in your first team squad striker force? He has been really poor to say the least and there is no way we could put him in the team unless we want to repeat the form of this year. Gallagher would be a better option than Carillo - honestly the guy is not good enough for us... Indeed who ever made the decision to spend 19m on him should be sacked for gross incompetence! It’s pretty obvious MH doesn’t rate him either which is hardly surprising...

They merited buying years ago because the actual team line up was in there and reading through used up some time as we used to have to get there earlier in case the gates were closed .... I think we have shown now that three/five at the back suits the players we have. Everton are strong in midfield and we need to control them there as much as possible.... Same formation - we have improved with it. This is no time for gun ho, we just don’t have the players to use 442 or the weird totally useless Pelligrino formation...

Yes there is some post match euphoria going on but then you can’t blame people for being pleased with a win. As for Hughes, at least he seems to learn by his mistakes. There are things I don’t agree with him on - the main one being Hooedt still in the team, however we are scoring some goals, the football is infinitely more exciting to watch and he doesn’t suffer fools. I was underwhelmed at the appointment but he is doing well in my view and I would like to keep him next season which ever league we are in....

No way Hoedt should play in this, by some distance our worse player and a liability.

The most worrying thing about that whole interview is his intimation that he will still be playing on the left which is clearly without any doubt at all never going to work..... If there is one thing Hughesy has to learn quickly it’s that Tadic can’t play on the right any more than Redmond can play on the left..... One of our biggest issues .....

Agree, Hughes has already had a massive effect in his first game.... The job he has been dumped with is almost impossible so let’s not judge him too quickly ... He didn’t get us into this mess after all....

You don’t have to know anything about football to know that Pellegrino was not sustainable... I would say Cortese learnt very fast too though Kruger doesn’t seem to have a savvy capability.

Where I slightly disagree is he is not getting in those positions to score in the first place. That is the point. It’s not as if he is missing chances - if only.... If there were a sign that he has something then that would be something but he just doesn’t look like he’s dangerous at all.... He has been playing regular football after all prior to his arrival... He could suddenly turn into something with Hughesy coaching him, however up until now he isn’t looking the part and personally I don’t think he is anywhere near Gabbiadini and Austin before he was injured. Pick him for another eighteen games in case he improves? You might as well put our youngsters in and let them have 25 games to learn their trade and save the money..... Where is the justification - so far for giving Carillo another half a season in the first team? It’s not an extreme view in any way.....
