LOL They hope to get £35 million from player sales. Clealry they do not understand the meaning of the word "firesale". What will happen if Utaka wants to sit there collecting his £30k per week plus "image rights" rather than move on and take a paycut?? They will do well to collect more than £15 million from player sales.

Very true.... and the thing that Scudamore does not seem to realise is that there is little fan loyalty in the Far East. An English football fan is much more likely to change their spouse than their football team - not so in the Far East. I was talking to a Hong Kong colleague who told me that he supported Arsenal. He drank out of an Arsenal mug and had an Arsenal poster on his office wall. He couldn't remember much about the 2003 Cup Final however because in those days he supported Liverpool!! Once you enter the fashion market that the PL has joined, you need to talk in terms of brands - not normal for an English football fan. If your Nokia phone doesn't look as good as a Motorola one, you forget Nokia and buy Motorola. If your football team loses a couple of matches you choose another one. I bet the number of Liverpool shirts being sold in the Far East is lower than usual at the moment. I bet that the fat g*t who I saw in Hong Kong wearing a Pompey shirt with Campbell's name on the back is now supporting someone else!!

I agree entirely.

The ref against Oldham was poor. Peter Walton against Leeds was shocking. However there have also been some poor refs this season from whom we have benefited. Anyone remember the home game against Yeovil ?? That ref gave us 2 pens both of which Rickie converted to give us our first League visctory of the season. The first pen was dodgy but the second was just a joke. The supposed handball happened in front of me and when the ref blew I had no idea what offence had been committed. I am sure that an old cliche like "luck always evens itself out over the course of a season" is a cliche because it so often appears to be true!!

DM also said in his post match report yesterday that our first goal was disputed (???) and that Carlisle's first goal came from a penalty. Maybe he doesn't know quite as much as he used to. I would have thought that for Antonio it is a no brainer. If you were him would you opt to stay at Reading where you were clearly not wanted or would you go to somewhere that wanted you and where you were playing in a successful team ?? I suppose that money culd come into it ....or someone else from a higher division could steam in and scupper a deal. But how likely is that??

I kept saying that all evening to my lad. Do you think he posts on here? If so, what is his name??

Lets fast forward 4 months to August 2010. The new season is about to start. What have Pompey got to do between now and then?? Only: Find an owner. Sort out their creditors. Find a new manager 'cos I am sure that someone like Grant will not be around at the likes of Blackpool and Scunny. Return their loan players. Sell whoever they can to get some dosh. Acquire some new players - either by begging , stealing or borrowing Their appearance at Wembley will now be a huge distraction. Nothing will happen before May 15th. Nothing will get resolved with the coaching staff or with players's contracts until their thrashing by Chelsea has been got out of the way. 5 weeks of time which could be spent planning for next season will be lost and in the same way as our slow start to the season could well cost us a place in the play-offs this season, so Pompey's Cup Final distraction could prove costly next season. Their last Cup Final appearance cost Pompey a fortune in bonuses. This appearance could prove to be an even more costly distraction.

They have not won any of their last 6 home games. Their last home win was on 16 January when they scraped past the mighty Southend winning 2-1. Lets hope that record hasn't changed after this evening.

Right . Here goes Huddersfield - I go for: Win Draw Win Draw Draw Draw Lose To give them 75 points. Colchester is: Draw Draw Lose Draw Win Draw Win That gives them 75 points. We win all 5 left at home ber Brizzle and Yeovil and draw at the Gills to muster 76 points and sneak into 6 th place.

I did hear Alan Green's comment and like you I was offended by it. I am fortunate enough to be able to afford the money and time to be a season ticket holder. (For me a round trip to St Marys is 170 miles). I have been a st holder since the move to St Marys. Before then I was no less a supporter that I am now. One day I may not be able to affored the money / time to hold a sticket. That will not mean that I will be less of a supporter than I am now. These are basic facts of life - perhaps Alan Green lives such an exalted life as a Five Live commentator that he has forgotten what it is like to be a normal supporter with pressures of time and money. A comment like this would not have been unexpected on a station like TalkSport or from someone like Adrian Durham. To hear it from Alan Green and on Radio 5 was most surprising.

The wembley announcer trying to pronounce Papa's name when he read the teams out . Mind you .... he said it perfectly when he gave the scorer of the third goal!!

You could always try going round the M25 and then UP the M40 to Beaconsfield (junction 2 - 5 mins from the M25 junction) or High Wvcombe (junction 3) and then catch a train in. Trains take 20 mins and go straight to Wembley Stadium.

Sounds good!!

I wonder who was cooking her old man's tea whilst she was at the footie :-)

I did. Ladbrokes at the ground were 40/1 on Saints winning the second half 3-0. I had a bit of that!!

Having just back from the game all I can say is: There is only 1 Rickie Lambert. His first goal was a good centre forward's goal. Their goalie got a hand to the penalty but the sheer power of the shot ensured that he couldn't save it. The third goal was pure class. Look out for it on the Football League show. The first half was pretty scrapy and a lot of the second half was not good. But MK Dons would never have scored if we had carried on laying until midnight. For a home team they were pretty dreadful and I can undersand why so few people turn up to watch them play (attendance 10,000 of whom at least 1,500 were Saints fans). When they finish the top tier of the ground so that it can hold 40k+ it will seem awfully empty with so few fans. They must have the only leaky roof in the country. For a ground with World Cup aspirations you would think that they would have a roof which kept you dry!!
