Why didn't Wotte speak up earlier in the season?
SaintRobbie replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Exactly. But also because he was part of the management team that wanted to go for the youth policy in the first place and thought it could be made to work. He was the one 2 years ago who convinced Lowe. I think anyone who has a supposedly decent knowledge of football but can advise on that sort of crass decision without understanding the consequences is either: a. Prepared to do anything for a job. b. Is not very good. c. Is happy to sit back and have his wages paid whilst doing nothing. d. Happy to do whatever he can to get out of his native land in order to lie low for a while in football. e. Does not understand the English league. f. Some or all of the above. I am not convinced that Wotte's motives and our motives remain the same - the ultimate good of SFC. He's a journeyman and I cannot support a manager who has up until now been so inexpliably incompetent. One win means nothing. Situation no change at the bottom of the table. 3-4 and we may reassess. But for now I'm afraid all I see in Wotte is an individual another self-interested man in the image of Lowe. I am happy to change my opinion and say he may have some talent afterall if he can rescue this Club - he must have some ounce of footballing knowledge to get here in the first place... but then SCW had watched a game or two... but for me this man has been and IS part of the Lowe problem. There are many managers unemployed out there with better records and understanding of the CCC than this man. As a fan who has advocated (and still does) consistency in management as being a critical rule of football team chairmanship this instinctively seems the wrong thing to say, but intuitively all I see in Wotte is more failure... even if he keeps us up (which he won't). JP was right about him. It was Wotte and Lowe who failed to give JP the tools to work with afterall. Wotte is not the answer - Lowe isnt either. Both are a package. Both need to move on. For what its worth, if Lowe and Wotte left now I think any unemployed manager could have the same impact on our team - if not a greater one. Consistency in management doesnt apply in Wotte's case for me... he's a 'shnake' as they say in Holland. -
But you get an extra £1 per person coming along you wouldnt have got anyway!

Mark Wotte r tw at kome

Rupert Lowe u role twerp

But IMHO Wotte and Lowe come as a package. I think a new Chairman will want his own manager anyway. As almost all British managers currently available are more successful and knowledgeable at this level, its a no-brainer. Regardless, if Lowe goes (please god) so will Wotte.

Not exactly true. Crowd pressure turns the board and bank if not puts Lowe under pressure personally. He hates criticism, which is why he searches us for banners against him. He hates the songs against him on matchdays. What's more I think crowd pressure had alot to do with him standing down last time. AND it will again. Lowe's battered and bruised, we can get him out for good soon ... and MUST
-
sad? I'm livid!
-
Because he came up with the inept strategy in the first place and has every possibility of repeating such a foolish error. Also, I'd put any of the current British managers available above Wotte in terms of knowledge and quality.
-
'Sending' I think rather than 'putting' wouldve been more apt. I dont think they want ot go down, but I think they both lack the talent to save the club now. I have never wanted to glory in foresight... always prefer the team to win. But, I havent been wrong about Lowe for an awful long time now

How many times will he punch the air when Lowe leaves?
-
I know who it was!

Sidelining and belittling the senior players so that they left in January isnt treating them disgustingly ? These are professional people and competitive sportsmen, sidelining better players whilst paying their wages anyway (!) to encourage them to leave is disgraceful. What does that do for team unity and ability? What does it do to ATTRACT players into the club when you treat senior players like this? Sorry - it was a disgusting tactic from Lowe.

That picture of Wotte and Gorre (dancing!?) HAS to be a caption competition.
-
Lowe really doesnt like anything in print going against him. Never has as it undermines his credibility outside of the general interest of online fans at websites like this. He has ALWAYS threatened and attacked stories against him and often has used legal action against the media where he has had a point. But, I do think this incident really does show he's cracking. Out of interest what investment does the Echo bring? I suppose it advertises in the programme? Even so, if this is true it also demonstrates that sponsors ARE turing away from the Club whilst he's here.
-
To be honest, there have been a number of incidents like this from Lowe over the years. We shouldnt be surprised.

AndyD is the new w0000000t! Please post again a similar thread for Cardiff!

Sounds as if the pressure is getting to Lowe. Keep up the protests and keep the comments going into the Echo. I have been a little more impressed with the Echo of late, they are reflecting the general public consensus and I hope will continue to do so by getting Lowe out for the good of SFC and indeed Southampton in the round. No City wants a loser like that associated with it.

Cant argue based on yesterdays result. But, can in terms of the whole season and club's youth policy. The trenches analogy from SOG is interesting. I suppose we need guts and support now more than ever, but ultimately history judges the Generals that slaughtered those who marched over the top. This season will not make a pleasant chapter in Duncan's next book methinks.

Interesting comment Nick, not picked up on that. Certainly the input of men playing professionally (whether they want to be here or not come the summer) has had an impact on team morale. Why was Wotte not involved as much in the team as people think? I think I know but would be interested to hear your views.

Could this possibly be "The end of a disastrous beginning"
SaintRobbie replied to cambsaint's topic in The Saints
I understood you. I suspect people may be just reading the title and responding. It was clear to me where you were coming from Cambsaint. -
I think everyone wants to win. The only people putting this Club down is Lowe and Wotte. IF Wotte gets us out of the bottom 3 I may change my mind... but he wont. Chuffed as I am and nice to feel my heart beating loud in excitement yesterday... my head remains fixed on doing Lowe and Wotte down, not my Club.
-
Yep. Probably some truth in that. OR Lowe - although he lacks the guts to announce publically that his plan was a sham - HAS realised he's incompetent and knows he needs to play him to stand a chance despite the cost?
-
IF and it's a big IF... Wotte Out - sorry but one win isnt going to convince me. Wotte was part of Lowe's strategy, he convinced him to go youth 2 years ago for the job of coach. We took GB and stayed in the CCC. Wotte for me is not the answer. MUST be sacked. It is painfully obvious that Lowe / Wotte's strategy has been (probably) fatally flawed and that sort of incompetence is not required here again... and certainly has a chance of coming back to haunt us. Lowe - well its a joke he's still here. No brainer... has to leave the club for good. A liar, a man who's presence deflects investment due to his ineptitude, foolish, arrogant, a proven failure. HAS TO GO... FOREVER. New leadership needed throughout. I tell you what, Euell and Sagga may have won the game yesterday but due to the actions this season os the 2 men above they and other key players like Skacel wont want to stay. So, regardless (I think we're going down by the way anyway) Lowe and Wotte HAVE to leave.
