17th is about right overall. In our last stay in the top division we had a number of close calls before our eventual relegation.
-
There are a lot of poor teams, so luck could play a part. Saints need to beat the teams around them and we haven't been convincing. Saints are probably going to be in a relegation battle.
-
If we finish mid table, fine. But, the arrogance and complacency that you show is breath taking. Relegation is always a possibility in a club like SFC. I have warned of this and have been a lone voice in the darkness but now people are acknowledging that I was right.
-
If I had made some of the comments above two or three years ago I would have been shot down. I was a realist and so now are many others. I and a few lone voices warned of complacency, but we have company now.
-
Complacency. Some of us warned about it, but the Club began to take its status in Premier League for granted. Hence a combination of all of the above factors. I also think, that as long as we stay in PL then the board will be reasonably happy, but it is easier to be relegated than some might think.

I have been warning of this scenario for a number of years but have been consistently castigated by people who are now saying that they could see this coming. Re-writing history is nothing new.
-
Did we bring Hoddle back? No. It won't happen.
-
Yay, Hoddle !!! The momentum is growing stronger!!!
-
Well, you cannot ever take our Premier League status for granted. Unfortunately complacency did begin to set in three or four years ago and this is the result. It's going to be close, joking apart, we could finish close to 17th this season, lets hope its north of!

Bill Shankly, one of the great characters of an era that was so different from now. Wonderful in many ways.
-
When you don't have any faith in the ability of the goalkeeper it is no surprise to see the team playing defensively. Bill Shankly used to say that when you had a good goalkeeper the rest of the team would push up and take risks. You also have to open up play and draw the opposition out, in order to create space. Also, if the opposition think you are likely to score they are drawn out, knowing they will have to score. Manager is ok. Time for a new goalkeeper !

Dyche is a legend at Burnley and would keep his job even if they went down. He has the capacity to get them back up again. We should have stuck with Adkins IMO.
-
If we got relegated and won the FA Cup, it would be far worse than surviving in the Premier League and getting knocked out of the Cup at an early stage. Think Wigan.
-
Totally disagree. The Premier League is vital to the future of the club, not the FA Cup. I would give the second string squad a chance and keep clear of injuries etc.
-
Has the injury and long break affected Forster. He was good before this, or was the team that much better that it made him look good?
-
The real problem was the loss of Mane, Pelle and Wanyama anf the lack of quality replacements.
-
If we stay up, its job done.
-
The idea of replacing the manager so early in the season would make SFC a laughing stock. This season we are likely to be in a relegation scrap. Provided we survive it and finish 17th or above, we can see it as character building. If we get relegated, we can sell off the rubbish and rebuild again. The cycle continues.
-
The mistake, was not reappointing Hoddle. Glad to see you are not re-writing history.
-
We have to stick with our manager. If we stay up, then it will have been a successful season all things considered.
-
Now if I had said that...
-
You ae not allowed to mention the R word, surely?
-
Well, Pelle alone, would not solve the problem, it was him in combination with Mane that opened up space by scaring the **** out of the opposition defence with pace and strength.
-
He was the bargain of the decade! Fantastic player and his enthusiasm was genuine and infectious.
