Adkins may well be in for a shock. Having taken a gutsy, ballsy S****horpe team of eager, hungry young lads to promotion and mid-table Championship status he's going to find the complete opposite here.

Phil Brown took a team finishing 21st and got them promoted at the first attempt AND kept them up. Decent and enthusiastic manager with good experience of the lower leagues. Certainly rather him than Zola. You want 5-3 scorelines, 18 wins and 17 losses throughout the season culminating in a mid-table finish - great - go for Zola. I'd rather be bored out of my skull and get promoted with either Billy Davies or Phil Brown at the helm. (although I'd much prefer Brown)

It'd be a fantastic result and performance if we won, but ultimately completely meaningless and pointless so because of that, 2-0 Saints

I think it'd be pronoucned "gooLEEEE" with a slight Brazilian/Portuguese twang and inflection on the 2nd syllable (going on the accents/pronunciations in City of God)

I really like him, lots of effort and hard work and a decent tackler - super delivery from deep as well - at League 1 he's a good, good player.

The whole shape and organisation of the team is poor at the moment and it is seriously costing us. Lambert needs to stay in the god damn middle and Punch and Lallana need to stay on their respective wings. All great players, but the team is unbalanced and loses its shape very quickly, we get desperate and lump it long and of course can't create anything at all. Schneiderlin looks disinterested and Hammond just doesn't seem good enough at the moment. A change of formation, if not personnel might be an idea.

Alan Lee would be a good target-man replacement for Lambert, but the fact is he would be just that, a replacement when Lambert isn't fit.

Exactly, and in the not-too-distant future it may well be where we have to place ourselves. Certainly nothing to be scoffed at. The up-down-up for good (a la Sunderland) is probably the best way to approach promotion in the long-run - although naturally its fantastic if you can stay up for good.

A boycott won't really help - it'll just be giving them the attention they want. Preferably, i'd rather Cortese just quietly stuck to his guns and just didn't change a damn thing. THAT will **** them off far more. The Sun are waaaaay used to getting what they want from all and everyone and certainly will expect little Southampton to fold first and allow their journo's in. Please don't put Dickson at LB, he looked lost there and bombed forward way too much and got caught out. At Left-wing he was much more natural and a real threat going forward. If we can get Lambert on the end of some of his crosses god knows how many we'd score. As for what to do with Lallana, I'd give him a free-role behind Lambert and just go 4-4-1-1. Tbh neither Connolly or Barnard have done enough to get into the team at the expense of Dickson, Lallana, Harding or Puncheon. ...Maaaaaybe drop Punch/Dickson, put Lallana on the respective wing and start with Lambert/Barnard up front either way. Dickson looks much better at left-mid than left-back.

Yeah, feels weird to be on the wrong end of such a ****ty result and still not feel that disappointed. But seriously, Barnard and Connolly cannot play together at all, those who were at Gillingham away last season learned this, and it was confirmed today. DON'T do that again Pards, you can cross it in all you like but if the strikers are both two little poachers YOU WONT SCORE. We need a bag of pace up front as well, because whilst Connolly and Barnard are quick in the Michael Owen sense of being quick to react and quick to make good movements off the ball, neither is actually fast in the raw pace category. Get us a nippy, lanky streak off **** in now Pards.
