No chance on Koren, his wages seem to be the stumbling block for most clubs, he was probably on upwards of 10k at WBA and i understand that he didn't sign a new deal there because they weren't prepared to match his increased demands...
-
what have the results got to do with it? You have stated that we are going about half-arsed to sign players and not putting much effort in. To know that you would need access to Pardews and Cortese's diary and scouting list, the fact you don't have access to either suggests it's a great big over-hyped assumption.

Garvan is a good shout, but i'd be worried about his motivation as it was only 18 months ago he was thinking about quitting football because it bored him.... for a player of that age to have thoughts like that is quite worrying....but he has talent. -
I really haven't seen much transfer activity at all yet this summer. You can go on about ''well Huddersfield and Wednesday signed, him, him and him'' - but they were either Free's, or players that wouldn't really improve us. Hudds are a team trying to get to our level, so their additions wouldn't have improved us really. Generally though it has so far been a very very quiet window, in all the leagues. Alot of clubs keeping cards close to their chests and even decent bosmans are finding it hard to get locked down into contracts (look at Koren for e.g.) There is very little money out there at the moment, only city are splashing the mega bucks. I think that's what this window needs - a couple of massive transfers in the top flight, which should hopefully see the money trickle down and get the ball rolling, as i feels like a pretty big stalemate so far.

exactly....take it with a pinch of salt

TBF that is a very good deal, but i'd miss harding. One of my favourite players last year, i can only really remember him having 1 or 2 poor games. A complete steady eady. -

Where has this greogry vignal rumour popped up from? i've seen it come up on some other forums now as well. Why would we want another LB? -
It originated on the football-rumours.com website, so you can take this with a pinch of salt. good wind up though

The only thing we really know is that Pard's hopes to get 2 players in before the plymouth game. -
I can't ever see them going higher than they are now, they will need to spend money to do so, which they don't have. We will (should) excelorate past them now and leave them well behind.

It sounds as if a couple of deals could be close '' "Fair play to him, he put himself in the shop window and he did himself a favour really. I'll talk to him and discuss what our plans are and whether they fit in with what Darren can do but we're still hoping to bring one or two players in before we start. "We might not secure them but we'll be pretty close - I'm pretty confident we can start the season with the squad we've got but we do want a couple more additions - maybe three."''
-
Potentially 3 more players before the start of the season then, exciting.

half of this crap thrown around about Cortese is unsubstantiated rumour, nothing else. All we ever hear is the other side of the story, not the clubs - if there even is a story. Cortese isn't the most approachable of guys, but he's a proven successful guy and is trusted to manage billionaires investments (not just markus, but it was his previous job with the bank in Switzerland). All this talk just screams of certain people trying to rock the boat because they are not able to come across as ''important'' any more.

lambo was a bargain! 800k initial fee.
-
well he played for us tonight so it looks like we may sign him, we can only hope that the fee is a joke - but that's the number doing the rounds with the preston fans.

yeh it's the preston fella -
sounds to me like 2 rumours have got merged into one there. Carter is the guy we've apparently agreed a 1.2m fee for.
-
youth team player, andy robinson i think his name is
-
typical pre-season bore-fest by the sounds of it.

30 mins played, Saints looking bright and closing down well. Barnard has just had Saints best chance, curling an effort wide #saintsfc

It was something along those lines, i think he was saying that he needed to improve his touch or something.

Some west brom views, gives a bit of a balanced view - ''I would think he would add some good experience for you. Hes a big lad with a decent range of passing. He scored one of the best goals ever to be scored up the Hawthorns (see link below). To be honest he wasn't the most impressive of young talents ive seen he didnt impress me here and he didn't impress me based on the coverage i caught of Preston last year. I think league one is his level to be honest hes got great potential to do well for you while your there mate.'' ''You will get a very mixed reaction to Carter on here. A bit like Marmite some love him, some hate him. I was one of those who rated Carter , a very decent player in the stripes and I think he will do very well in League 1. Thought he had some very good games for us, but then again some times he does go missing and had a quite a few average games'' ''Average championship player. Should do well for you. Decent work rate tidy passer and can get the odd spectacular goal.''
