Nah, I saw enough of him to know he wasn’t a decent PL player, struggled to make an impact in any of the games he played. Didn’t hold the ball up, didn’t really bring others into the game, was slow and lacked mobility. It was telling that he barely got a look in once Hughes was through the door, in games we needed to win he wasn’t even making the bench. Nowhere near good enough for us.

They'll have a bit of cash to play with for sure. Good signing for Nice if they pull it off and another few $$ for us to reinvest. Looks like this Merlon deal is happening though. Not quite sure what to make of it, I seem to remember him being very, very highly rated when Barca signed him. All reports suggest he had a standout season for Nice last year, yet their fans couldn't wait to get shot of him. Confusing.

Jeeez, Croatia were so lucky there. Denmark played them brilliantly in the 2nd half and played the better football for me, they just lack a decent focal point really. Don't think they deserved to go out, but never mind. This World Cup is so weird though, in a positive way. Quarter finals so far... Uruguay v France Russia v Croatia **** knows how tommorow will go, could well be a Mexico and Japan win going by this World cup so far!

What a ****ing great world cup this has been so far, absolutley epic. Uruguay are the stand out 'team' for me, in the sense that they're a team. Those guys will put their bodies on the line for eachother at any moment. I reckon they could frustrate france and get through you know, let's not forget that France weren't amazing at the back today. But yeah, best world cup of my life time so far.

We're suddenly not hanging around are we? I'm sure I remember Barca signing him from a brazilian club, where he was looked at as their replacement for Carols Puyol - i'm sure it's the same one, he was rated as a hell of a talent when they signed him. Bit of a beast, but can be a tad rash. Here's a video for him from his time in Brazil -

Have a very positive feeling about this signing. He's someone I was really impressed with in the UCL.......so I think he's got what it takes. What I noticed with him is that he wasn't your conventional attacking/small wide man....he is bulky and strong, he can hold off players as well as dribble past them. He's not as quick as Mane, but he's certainly not slow. This will add an element to our attack we've been missing for a few seasons IMO....
