How does FFP actually work though? Isn't it wages v turnover as a %? Key is to get unwanted players off the wage bill whilst increasing commercial income, we've been bogged down with poor signing high earners for a while, disasters like Carillo and Lemina.

We all start buying match programmes and an extra pie at half time
  3. Thanks, I hadn't seen that reported anywhere. Have they said how long he's expected to be out for?
  4. Where is Broja for Albania tonight?
  5. Get yourself over to Totton mate , good little set up there for watching the B team. Would be good to get a minnow in 3rd round of the FA Cup though to give some of these lads 1st team experience.

He definitely wasn't 100% and it didn't help that Villa left a few late challenges on him. Ref didn't offer much protection.
  7. Did they open up the away terrace for you? 77 away fans according to this, fair play for going. https://www.crawleytownfc.com/news/2021/november/report--crawley-town-0-4-southampton-u21s/
  8. Papa Johns Trophy group stage game featuring two sides that are already knocked out has to be the lowest / most pointless 'competitive' fixture on the planet? Even still nice to see another good win for the lads!

    Salisu

What's the story with Salisu and his international career? I noticed he's still not being called up for Ghana which I assume is his choice as when you look at the other defenders they've got they are hardly world class. Probably a good thing for Saints as he wouldn't be away for the African Nations Cup.
  10. It will be especially interesting if their new manager is Ralph Hassenhuttl, wonder if Norwich put him on their short list as an attempt to unsettle our camp just before the fixture.

Ward Prowse withdrawn from England due to illness (probably Covid? ) and Livramento out of u21s with an injury
  12. He's withdrawn from England u21s apparently so must have picked up a knock
  13. They must have had a bit about them to have won the Championship with 97 points last season though, I've seen us struggle so many times in games like this some posts on here feel a bit complacent. Depending on new manager appt I'd expect Norwich to raise their game, a draw wouldn't surprise me.
  14. How many players does each side have on international duty?
  15. Looks like we've sold out our 2,669 allocation as well, good following
  16. It started at Watford and the bloke behind me pointed out A) they are not that long B) he's one of the few tall players we have who could get on the end of a long throw so why would you use him to take it and C ) almost every time it resulted in an attack for the other team with Salisu out of position

    Lyanco

He seems to be a top character to have around, the Gorilla has the potential to be a real fans favourite and stories like this will help https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/19696912.southamptons-lyanco-gives-back-supports-fundraising/?ref=fbshr
  18. Losing points from winning positions had become a big issue for us and was the main reason I posted a few weeks back that I couldn't see where enough goals would come from for us to win games, fair play since then we've had three 1-0 wins. Ralph proved me wrong.
  19. Agree it was similar at Watford, absolutely battered them first half, failed to take chances, then became much more defensive 2nd half and became a game of holding on, fantastic to win and keep a clean sheet but we won't keep getting away with that. Crowd was decent last night night both in numbers and getting behind the team, getting a buzz back around the place.
  20. He's been superb. Getting a lot of attention now though, if he keeps this up he'll have a good chance of going to the World Cup next year , just hope it's as a Saints player.
  21. Had a couple of messages with a Villa fan I know, they've gone from being overly optimistic to overly pessimistic in a very short space of time. It seemed they allowed themselves as a fan base to get caught up in the hype of some big money signings (ignoring it was funded by Grealish) and really thought they were set to challenge for European spots this season. Now they're talking about sacking the manager and getting caught up in a relegation battle. Personally i think they've got some good players and will be a close contest, wouldn't surprise me if they play defensively and we end up with a 1-1.
  22. I think we've got a good chance with McGinn being out

    Other Games 21/22

Whatever it is fingers crossed he's still out on Friday night
  24. I agree, leaves a bad taste. Burnley game I got 2 adults and 2 kids, £6 booking fee when I printed the tickets myself at home! No p&p costs for Saints themselves, absolute rip off.
  25. Can't get back to London after the game as for some reason last train in 10pm, impossible to make with 8pm kick off unless you leave very early, going to inconvenience a lot of fans as always plenty of Saints heading back to Basingstoke/ Woking / London. There used to be a 10.30 and 11pm train not sure if this is a temp timetable change due to works.
