  1. they've tried nicking some of ours with the cruise terminal. can't imagine many of them will will be on here later this week they'll be too busy having a minutes silence for Corbyn losing the election, never seen anything as ridiculous as their banner when we played up there. I'm off to read The Sun .
  2. I'm afraid to say it will be one of the biggest scandals in world football but one day the truth will come out that Les Reed has been on the Anfield pay roll all along. It makes a lot of sense when you think about it.
  3. Fair play, 5 players in an England u21 squad is excellent representation for the club, and great reward for the academy (i know Redmond didn't, and Stephens joined the academy late on, but even so) . Will be great experience for the players, would be a great trip to do a week in Poland for those group games for any fans still looking for a summer holiday.
  4. Southgate said when he announced the last squad that Ward-Prowse and Redmond (and no doubt Jack Stephens) will be key players at the u21 European Championship this summer in June - will be interesting to see how they get on in the last tournament they qualify for at this age group.
  5. You only have to watch the news to understand what can happen if you allow Islamic teachings to be enforced in every day life, only yesterday we had this disgrace in Indonesia in a part of the country that now follows Sharia law ; https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/39996224 we know that in some communities in England there are Sharia hearings to resolve family disputes etc. by allowing this to happen the British government are not doing enough to prevent this backward culture from spreading. If we'd left these communities to deal with the grooming gangs they would have probably sentenced the girls to stoning.
  6. Good article. It is such a well oiled political / media response to these attacks now, advising everyone to carry on as normal, don't let them win - be friends with everyone! At no point addressing the root cause of the issue.
  7. I don't know why you are all expecting such quick news, there is a much bigger picture with the takeover ongoing, i personally think nothing will happen in regards to Puel until we know if there are going to be new owners or not, and this seems partly dependent on the Premier League / Fit and proper test.
  8. i think everyone will be in agreement that we want to play "better" football, and win more matches, I don't think most posters are against criticism of the club, it's more in the way you do it. Booing the subs, singing "you don't know what you're doing " and "Claude Puel he's got to go home" is hardly the most constructive, the hatred some of the fans seemed to direct at Puel is quite odd really.
  9. I agree with yourself and Cat, both calling out the modern day Premier league entitled fan who can't help but have a tantrum when results don't go their way. Clearly this season could have been better, especially the home form, but the support from the fans has been consistently poor as well. The Stoke goal was welcomed by many who could then let their booing and moaning go up a level. In a season where we finished 8th and got to a cup final I doubt many managers could have achieved much more with our squad.
  10. that's an interesting read and matches a lot of what you see on here It's not just the dull football, it's the non existent atmosphere, sterile experience of modern day Premier league football, paying £40 per game to sit next to a tourist in a half and half scarf taking selfies, and if you do attempt to stand and sing there is a jobsworth in a high vis jacket just waiting to "sit down fellas" , there was a thread on this forum earlier this season discussing not enjoying it anymore if anyone can dig it out. away games I've done have been more enjoyable, can see why people are losing interest in the St Marys experience.

  12. I think I'll wait until Sunday before celebrating this achievement, if we lose to Stoke and somehow end up below WBA and Bournemouth there's no way that could be considered a success. Even though we are currently 8th one place off a Europa spot we are much closer points / performance wise to the bottom 3. future generations may well look back at this four year period as a golden era of top 8 finishes and a cup final so I suppose we should all try harder to appreciate it a bit more.
  13. Still a couple of hundred seats left for the game, mostly at the back of the Chapel stand so will be nice and dry.
  14. IF West Brom lose away to Man City tonight we will most likely move up to 8th on goal difference without even playing. I can see Spurs getting a draw at Leicester on Thursday night , so if we could get a point against Man United we'll be 8th going into the final game of the season against Stoke , and as mentioned above Bournemouth and Leicester can't both win on Sunday. Exciting times.
  15. I think this is the most likely scenario. Jose has said that the Palace game is too close to the final and he will not be able to play anyone in that and Stockholm. The fact that they will not be able to move from 6th place should help us. I'll go for a 1-1 draw.
  16. I know what your saying, but it's been like that a long time, I remember people thinking 1989/90 season was amazing when we finished 7th and 94/95 when we finished 10th (above Arsenal, think highest London clubs were QPR and Wimbledon ) So in our history an 8th place top flight finish still gets filed alongside our top 15 most successful seasons probably?

    Puel out

If they really do dislike him that much it's more likely to do with personality than his ability to communicate. various things are not right at the club, like having our club captain so determined to leave and ending up at West Ham. Would be interesting to know a bit more.

    Puel out

Fans were not impressed with the appointment on day one and he had an up hill battle from there, not helped by drawing first two home games against Sunderland and Watford. Despite getting to a cup final his name has not been sung once by the fans, zero acknowledgment of him at all really other than booing his tactics. i do think we've missed a good old manager / board out campaign , used to help galvanise the fan base think quite a few people are gearing up for one. Lowe out was the last one we had.
  19. By the time we kick off on Saturday West Brom and Leicester would have already played. With a bit of luck Chelsea will win at the Hawthorns on Friday night, Man City will beat Leicester Saturday lunchtime and they players would know walking out at the Riverside that a win would lift us to level with WBA, possibly above them depending on how many they lose by and how many we win by. Will make it an exciting game in the race for 8th. i like the opening post on this thread from a Boro fan https://www.oneboro.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?tid=8576
  20. Let's be honest mate, we have been f*cking shlte at home for most of this season. Puel's tactics and lack of goals have numbed the footballing minds of many fans. 17 goals in 17 home games = fail. 0 goals in 3 Europa away games - fail. i want to like him, but i've never warmed to him. Having said that i try to support the team at games and not join in with the boo boys, but i understand why they do.
  21. Is that a hint of what the new kit design will look like?
  22. I've seen a few people say this now, what result would inspire you to renew? I think Arsenal have to come and attack , a draw is no use to them in battle for top 4, so it's up to us whether we try to frustrate them with a defensive line up, or match them. First goal will be crucial, if we take the lead the Wenger out banners will come out. Does anyone know where Arsenal fan TV will be filming after the game? I might try to get some selfies with them.
  23. There are still loads of tickets available for this game, very unusual for a game against a "big" club to be on completely open general sale, normally they would at least require a purchase history. Quite a few Hampshire based Arsenal fans in the home end for this one i expect as the away tickets sold out to season ticket holders with plenty of loyalty points. Their fans only paid £16 in the away end thanks to VirginMedia subsidy and Arsenal pay £4 per ticket for all of the away games for their fans, Saints fans in the same stand are paying £42! Hard game to call, hopefully will be an entertaining end of season match , 3-2 home win my prediction. We were very unlucky to lose at the Emirates back in September, then dominated there in the league cup win, the FA cup result at St Marys was awful with a 3rd choice Saints XI as good as throwing the tie.
  24. Agreed, what minute will he ask to be taken off? I'll go for 60th if game not going well. It doesn't work playing Tadic and Boufal together in my opinion.
  25. the strangest thing I've ever heard of at football, rather than supporting your football team using it as an opportunity for political campaigning. Surprised they didn't arrange a minutes silence for the death of the Labour party as well. At least the Saints fans are going armed in response, plenty of copies of The Sun to be waived from the away end.
