    Home or Away?

"What else are you gonna do on a Saturday? Sit in your ****in' armchair ****in' off to Pop Idols? Then try and avoid your wife's gaze as you struggle to come to terms with your sexless marriage? Then go and spunk your wages on kebabs, fruit machines and brasses? **** that for a laugh! I know what I'd rather do. "whoever saints are playing" away, love it! " quote from the oscar winning film "Football Factory"
  2. I know a few lads going down with Woking to Brighton away in the 1st round, that is £10 each so looks like that game has been priced as cheaply as possible.
  3. I know the gate receipts have to be shared, but what about the booking fees? are they included in that? If not, the £2 extra for paying on the day will go to both clubs, whereas the £3 extra booking fee just goes to saints.
  4. hahahaha, what the f*ck is Bognor uni? does that even exist? lets hope we don't get a replay, god knows what the prices will be!!
  5. Does anyone know when the draw for the next round is? Hopefully get an away draw in london area I'd go along to that.
  6. We had 1000 there last season, doubt we will have more than 600 this time.
  7. I've done Megatrain down from London for several games this season, they've had the £1 down on the 10.39 and the £1 back on 5.55, 6.55 or 7.55 for almost every game available, £2 return really cannot complain. It is on the slow service, but if you are happy to have a couple of cans and a bit of banter on the journey it still goes quickly enough (or read a book / paper) Having said that, if there are 4 of you, just go for the group save deal and travel half price and keep some flexibility on which trains you catch. Travelling away going via London it is worth a look. Megatrain also so the EastMidlands Line, up to Nottingham / sheffield, Derby etc, but they seem to have a more limited selection of trains to choose from. For Walsall away you can get £15 return from London Euston on the faster Virgin Trains service to Birmingham New Street, then change there to Bescot Stadium. Got to be quick to get those as Saturday before xmas. What is the latest of tickets sold for Notts County?
  8. Lets be honest, Pompey have well and truely pulled off a masterful peice of business and are laughing at the rest of us as they prepare their push for the play offs. They will not go down. And as things stand have a first XI that would easily beat ours. So the best we can hope for is they stay in the Championship and we use them as motivation to get back there ourselves and get above them. As for all the f*cking know it alls on here who used terms such as "don't worry, they are toast" and sat back predicting their downfall have all been shown to be wafflers who didn't know as much as they thought they did. The biggest let down in all this was the failure of the courts to support HMRC in the tax case, once that failed it seemed like nothing could stop them.
  9. Its about right as a % of our home crowd, 10%, same as Dagenham taking 300.
  10. Have you got a network railcard? One option to reduce the cost is get a network railcard cheapday return Southampton Central to Bedford (within network southeast region) for £23.50, you would then need to get a Bedford to Nottingham return for £29.30, but that would make it £52.80 return in all. If you have any kids that travel with you get a family railcard, get a 1/3rd off for yourself for the whole journey. Bit of advice to any fans who want to travel by train to away games, get yourselves organised in advance and book the cheap deals available, often go on sale 10-12 weeks in advance and makes the days out much more affordable. There are also group fares available if you have a group of 10+, you can get special fares by contacting the train operator. One thing saints defintiely lack is the ability to run and operate unofficial coaches / mini buses, in general our support lacks a bit of get up and go, Nottingham for example ISN'T THAT FAR. The AA routemaster recommends it is a 3 hour drive, get in the motor with a few mates, get a few decent tracks on the stereo and a bit of banter going and you'll be there before you know it.
  11. Our away support wont look that impressive up there when you consider they have already had visits from Wednesday and Huddersfield taking considerably more. 2200 should be about right when you consider that as a % of our home attendance. Using that as a ratio teams like Brighton have much much better away support than us.

    The 90's

1990s Going to away grounds and virtually NEVER seeing a sell out. Beating Pompey comfortably in the FA Cup 1996 Getting beaten by lower league clubs a number of times on the cup, port vale, shrewsbury, STOCKPORT in the 1/4 final of the league cup That small away terrace at Goodison Standing at Plough Lane Maine Road highbury Crowd of under 9k at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea away 1992 What better way to start the 90s that beating Charlton away 4-2 at Selhurst Park Highfield Road Winning 5-4 away at Norwich. Nicky Banger Frankie Bennett

    The 90's

Do you remember watching "the big match" on itv? I recall Man City away about 1991 1-0 Dowie header. as far as sky are concerned no stats exist prior to 1992. other general football memories from the 90s the arsenal north bank mural, that was called racist as had no black faces. the demise of the once great old grounds to be replaced with souless stadia Blackburn winning the league. Leeds winning the league with Howard Wilkinson as manager. Eric Cantona Italian football being the best, watching channel 4 every sunday
  15. that's not from 2000

    The 90's

taking a quick break at work, 90's were decent era for me, enjoyed my football more I think. Few notable entries : The Career of Le Tissier. Winning away at Man Utd in the cup 1992 on pens Barry Horne's screamer v Bolton Terracing. Last day survivals Branfoot Going to Wembley in the ZDS Beating big teams regularly at the Dell, United 96, 97, 98 - we are the last team to beat them 3 years in a row on our home ground. Pirate Paul's unofficial merchandise stand on the Milton Road 1990 FA Cup run (3-1 away spurs) Playing 4-2-4 with Shearer, Rideout, Wallace and Le Tiss a "Top-flight" featuring teams like Wimbledon, Luton and crowds of 4k The early days of sky tv were quite funny, remember Man Utd at home on a monday, think Dion Dublin scored for them, dancing girls and fireworks Rubbish PONY kits
  17. it will be a shame if we don't sell the 1400 befor the 22nd to get the extra allocation, would be good to have 3000 up there for this one.
  18. Did they give any indication of the number of tickets sold yet?
  19. that's not too bad considering our rubbish start to the season, and a fair few went last season, should be about 1100 i reckon once the pay on the day fans are added. that seems to be about our average support north of the midlands. Would be nice to take 2-3k up North at some point this season, Notts County in a couple of weeks should be a good one.
  20. you should bring that Russian Saints flag as well, looked quality at St Marys last season. are you dong any other games as part of the visit?
  21. yeah, must have just been the BBC report that i saw - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8711010.stm
  22. have you got the news story from when they announced the reserves would be withdrawing from the league and playing friendlies instead?
  23. we should be able to take more than 1400 up there, but can't see us selling enough tickets with more than a week in advance, especially with no more home games between now and the 22nd. Spread the word to others you know who are going to get their tickets before the 22nd.
  24. Just looked up Nike Academy on the web, hard to find out much about who plays for them, i notice their physio is ex-footballer Ian Andrews, presume he is the same keeper who played for us as reserve to Tim Flowers around 89-90 season. This game sounds no better than a training ground kick-about. Didn't they say we would play presitge freindlies against other premier league reserve teams, and even European? Hopefully they will give us a bit more notice to book flights for Real Madrid Deveopment XI away.
  25. Are you a season ticket holder? Do your bit and get some £7.50 tickets for the next 2 home games and invite along family/mates, plenty of advance notice, I got extra tickets on Saturday for the Oldham game for mates who haven't been all season (but used to go regularly), if other season ticket holders do the same we should get a big crowd for that one.
