Planned ourselves - BA flight into Amman although easyjet now fly the route. Pick up a hire car and drive around - friends of our have said there are no worries on that score. Dead Sea and Petra are both on our bucket lists. We did consider a little longer in Amman and the Wadi Rum but I want to go diving so need to get to the beach.

Going to Aqaba in Jordan this year -three of days touring to the dead sea and petra and 5 days on the beach. For greece try Kardymili in the Peloponese, mainland greece. (actualy there are a lot of places in the peloponese that are worth going to) off the beaten track, great tavernas, lots of repeat tourists which keeps their head above water. Also not as pricy as the islands and easy to get to - a couple of hours outside of kalamata airport and abut 5 hour drive from Athens.

FFS they would survive a nuclear holocaust. I am simply stunned that they are still going.

To be fair to the complainants, these cases came about due to a uniform policy changeand in the counsellor case, changes to the equality laws in this country. They were already in the jobs before the changes have been made, and in the case of the nurse for 30 years without issue.

They had a bloke on 5live this morning talking about this. He said that in each case the individuas were given permission to where a cross on their lapels instead as opposed to a cross on a chain. He also went to point out that most Christians agreed with the stance on the crosses on chains (banning them in certain cases) and that the indivduals concerned were pentcostal christians who believe in miracles, symbols etc. He went to make the point that Pentacostals also believe that christians will be persecuted before the second coming of christ, so it is almost as if they welcome any form of persecution because it (in their minds) brings them closer to the second coming. IMO For health and sefety issues then, religous beliefs should be set aside, however in the case of the counsellor not willing to provide sex thearpy to a gay couple, then surely provision can be made to accomodate their wishes i.e. referring them to an alternative thearapist. I don't see the harm in that.

Another top tip for weight loss... Make a really healthy wrap for lunch and then leave it on the side when you go to work. ffs

Used to when I went to the infants - about 7 years old, mum used to cross me over the road outside the house and the lolipop lady used to sort out the busy road opposite the school. At eleven I got the train to school and walked up Hill Lane. I suspect it is a combination of busier roads, overprotectiveness and parents having more choice about the school their kids attend, that have led to the fall in kids making their own way.
