Not sure about that comparison, but if his methods work half as well as Clough at Derby (never mind Forest) then great. But was there anything left of Clough's early personality if you stripped the arrogance away ? Bloke was insufferable in his time at Derby.
-
Might be worth sending him on loan to the Championship in the new year to get his confidence back ahead of coming back to us in the summer if we go down.
-
RL had three years to fine tune his game with us before arriving in the Premiership, we'll never know how or if he would have made the jump straight from L1.

LuckNumber7 posted a link to an article on the match thread taken from a Luton article in which one of their directors said: https://thelutonian.com/its-a-sexy-project-everything-chief-exec-gary-sweet-said-on-search-for-new-luton-boss/

Can't she tap him up on Facebook (if a page exists for ex-pupils) ?

Think he’s come across well in the interviews I’ve seen, better than most of those seen whilst he was at Luton, possibly being more relaxed with the deal done. Can see why he fits the model SR are trying to build. Critical though is getting the players on board, and he’s got the WC break to do that. But he appears a good communicator which is a great start. Whilst I’d have been happier with more experience at her helm, I’m cautiously optimistic. But no matter how good the potential is, his first half season will largely be defined by recruitment in January.
-
Agree with you, but it would take a shift of emphasis in our recruitment dept. Perhaps looking down the barrel of relegation might focus the minds. January does present difficultly, as does our league position in convincing the calibre of player needed to join the “project”.
-
Age 28. Agree he looks like something we need, but at that age doesn’t satisfy one of the “metrics” we use (in current parlance). Unless there’s been a change in the clubs signing policy I think we can rule that one out. Traore mentioned in an earlier post, age 21, is more in keeping with Saints strategy. Personally I’d like to see us relax the age targets but that remains to be seen.

Good piece, thanks for sharing it. I can vouch for what he says about other fans though, having already a Reading , and Forest fan giving me their unfavourable views having seen him on the touchline. Forest fan thinks we'll be nailed on for the drop, so hope NJ disappoints him on that. Best not to mention the Stoke fan's opinion though.

Madness if true.

Bit of a relic, as a 1970's classic.

Or McCarthy ... Should have put Willi on for the penalties

Do you want Nathan Jones to Manage Southampton Football Club?
Badger replied to Rivers's topic in The Saints
Think it has been asked before, but who were the strikers ? Gakpo may be one, but the other ? Broja has been mentioned but I thought the latest theory was that Tuchel vetoed it. -

erring towards unsure, but gut reaction remains no, not experienced at this level, and doesn't give the lift we need. Can't help feeling this has a feeling of 'Branfoot meets Sturrock'. -
Surprised if it's his selection of manager.
-
Stating the obvious, it was in L1.
-
They' play in the EPL, they are all big name players in their own heads.
-
Who is making the decisions here now then, Rasmus or Semmens ?
-
Comment from a Stoke fan - is that he couldn't cope with the pressure and "bigger name" players whilst there.
-
Where is the ambition with CEO making statements about our league position ? Recruitment has failed to deliver. Off the field it's become a farce with the ease away support gain entry to home areas, and yesterday it's reported that a Stewards watched a Saints fan getting a thumping. All in all, seems a bit of a fiasco and no direction or leadership.
-
A chance for SR to make an impression and show they mean business. But no, we've gone from Ralphampton to Semmenshampton .. await the marketing strapline ... We are Semmenhampton , the league position doesn't matter, we have no ambition and are proud to be shit in everything we do...

Have to wonder why Villa, Wolves, Brighton, weren't beating a path to his door.

Think sacking Adkins for some unknown bloke who didn't speak English was pretty heated to be honest.
