FA Cup 4th round draw - Sunday 2pm - HOME v YEOVIL TOWN
Badger replied to The Kraken's topic in The Saints
Why would they lower it to less than the Burnley fixture ? Taking into account the post-Christmas factor for Burnley, weather etc and the fact Yeovil will bring a few more, I expect 18,000-20,000 for this. -
FA Cup 4th round draw - Sunday 2pm - HOME v YEOVIL TOWN

Same as Burnley, looks alright especially for a Saturday 3pm fixture. Can't see it falling lower than that. -
Bit unfair on Jim McCalliog perhaps ? If only for one free kick, and a lofted pass to Bobby Stokes. And scoring twice in the cup repay at Villa Park.

Thank you Bearsy.

With the exception of West Ham though, neither are anyone else.

Not entirely true though as Dodd had made his debut in 1989, although did not secure the rb position immediately ( shared it with Alexei Cherednik in 1990 for a while). By 93/4 it seemed to fluctuate between Dodd & Kenna, although Kenna was beginning to make it his. Personally I thought Dodd the better defender, and Kenna over rated. I was surprised when Blackburn offered £1.5m for him.

Remember that well.

As an aside, who was our best ever perm signing ? I'd say Kevin Keegan.
-
Possibly. Although the club might also have considered Puncheon's response and attitude once he realised he would only have had a bit part role. If they suspected a return to the incredible sulk, and upset the morale etc then they would be keen to ship him out.
-
Has been done before, I'm sure. Although may be only by a "gentlemen's agreement" between the parties involved.
-
This was the game : But the bastard editor stops short of the celebration.
-
Don't recall it immediately, but are you possibly mistaking it for a celebration by Jeff Kenna after he struck one in from some distance in a midweek game ?

Agree with your defence of RL, whose record and time here have been exceptional. But disagree with the rest of the post, in particular regarding Alan Ball, a truly world class player, who like RL was instrumental in our rise - only one division perhaps - but helped us establish as a top side. Being pedantic, Channon, and MLT came through the youth ranks, and Paine also came through as a youngster (although there was fee involved from Winchester City). KK, Shilton - good, mega-signings in their day, but neither really had the impact of elevating the club as Alan Ball did. To say Bally, is not in the same league as those two is utterly ridiculous. Listen to KK speak of his time at Saints, and even as twice European Player of The Year, he said he was in awe of Bally, and learnt things from him. Stating the obvious, but one of the three have played in a World Cup winning team, and you know which one it was.

best striker since Marian. falls down well it seems, and does a good dance. Sign him up.
-
Just a shame we did not give them a chance to show what they could do with us, before we just released them really isn't it ?
-
I go along with comments above, that Fat Sam must surely now be on borrowed time at West Ham.

We were linked with him once upon a time whilst he was at Preston.

FA Cup 4th round draw - Sunday 2pm - HOME v YEOVIL TOWN
Badger replied to The Kraken's topic in The Saints
Good home draw. Pleased with that, and with it being relatively local, Yeovil will bring a good following so could be a cup tie atmosphere to be had as well. Don't worry chaps, I expect Jos & Yoshida, if selected, will make it a close and interesting game. -
Desperate scraping of the barrel isn't it ? Really does prove my point, although I would not even elevate either of these long forgotten cretins to the status of " 'B' list celebrities ". Martin Allen in keeping with a 'family image' that the FA wish to portray ? This is from his time at Cheltenham Town alone : http://www.gloucestercitizen.co.uk/Martin-Allen-accused-racially-abusing-bouncer/story-11882980-detail/story.html (although he was cleared of the above) http://www.gloucestercitizen.co.uk/Robins-boss-barred-pub-antics/story-11937505-detail/story.html And, I recall a story that he was kicked out of the skates as a player for 'indecency' ? Even more ridiculous, is that six ties will kick off today, knowing their potential opponents in the next round. One of the great aspects of the cup, especially third round, was not knowing and dreaming - if a smaller club - who they might get as a reward for going through.
-
Probably more likely that he wants to earn the ridiculous salary on offer than play for West Ham as such. But now that they've signed a typical 6'8" Allardyce striker will they still go for RL ? perhaps They will given Fat Sam's style of stockpiling players. We'd be mad to consider letting RL go despite his age etc. Just look at how less fluid our play was yesterday after he went off.
-
Dixon and Speedie were worse signings in my book. Charlie George - despite a few displays to the contrary - was poor. Don't get me started on Mark Hughes. Agree that RL is up there with the signing of Alan Ball as an inspiration for what he brought to the club.
-
When do our own allocation go on sale ?(via the Saints ticket office)
-
Oh good, live on ITV at a (flexible) time to suit their schedule. Do you know which 'B' list celebrities (who ITV expect us to be impressed by) are performing this task live with the back drop of an empty Wembley stadium ? Oh for the days on Monday lunchtime, smuggle the radio to wherever you might be, Cup Draws.

Kidderminster Harriers home or away if they get through.

Hopefully we'll be too concerned with the Cup Final the following week to be too bothered about the mancs at home. But I'm not holding my breath. Totally agree. Perhaps NC ought to realise he will remain firmly in the shadow of Laurie MacMenemy until he delivers a trophy or two, no matter how many £12m imports from Italy he gambles on.
