England World Cup Squad - Lambert, Lallana and Shaw included
Badger replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
Delighted for the three of them, especially Rickie Lambert. What a meteoric rise from L1 to WC in Brazil. -
And Wanyama wants to go to West Ham as well....
-
And me. Had I known they were doing that I'd have reversed the car round after the match yesterday, put the rear seats down and brought some back. Could have had my own piece of St Mary's in Gloucestershire.

Schneiderlin. assuming he stays.

Compared to Hoddle, Venables never really got the criticism he deserved, and came away from Euro 96 with a reputation enhanced, after what was all in all a mediocre performance on the pitch (but overshadowed by one brilliant demolition of Netherlands). Yes, great tournament for atmosphere ('Football's coming home' etc), but not TV's doing. Didn't need to qualify. Two years to prepare. Our record over 90 minute matches P5 - W2 - D3 -L0 , pretty average. These were ALL at HOME. The non selection of MLT ****ed Saints fans off of course.

And what would that achieve ? I thought the "who the fck are Man Utd" song pretty poor infant school age effort, but singing Blue Moon is pitiful, just like a group of morons singing "play up pompey" etc.

Can't disagree with you on that. Robbie Savage was an ar$ehole as a player, a vile individual. His blooming media career proves you can in fact polish a turd.
-
Hansen. Another reason I'm pleased Liverpool managed to f^ck it up.
-
Ralph didn't appreciate the fact that Dalian Wanda did not attend the meetings personally.
-
Red sleeves aside, these remind me of the Admiral kit 1976-79. Possibly, but till better than any plain red which Bristol City, Swindon, Forest etc might be seen in.
-
Perhaps we did not ever think it would reach the current level ? Or perhaps Bournemouth declined our offer of Tommy Forecast to 'call it quits'. As a thought though, this was something presumably agreed when Lowe and Southampton Leisure were in control. Wonder if this transferred to ML on taking ownership.

A memorable five year period. Highs: JPT The L1 run in, Championship start and finish to the season RL scoring v Scotland Lows ML passing away All red strip Sacking of Adkins ( at this point for me a "journey" end and we went off on a different route, no matter how well this season has gone) The FA Cup this season , going out without a fight. Huge and heartfelt thanks to those involved (including many no longer with us, NA in particular, Jaidi, Hammond, Chaplow, Sharp,). Hope the 'journey' continues, over to KL,RK, MP etc.
-
Good news, well done Sholing. At the start of the season most of us dreamed of a Southampton team , preferably in red and white stripes, winning the cup at Wembley. Hope MP takes note.
-
Possibly so, but I think this will be overlooking the fact that NC's pursuit of glory was built on the prospect of continued funding from elsewhere, and the likelihood that his "spend, spend" policy could have lead us back to ruin. I still think NC's "ambitions" had comparisons with Ridsdale and possibly Storey in where they might have lead longer term.

I'm sure it impressed the Italian media at the time.

Perhaps the kick off should have been put back to 3.40pm as a mark of respect. Surprised no one suggested it.

Veho announced as new main club sponsor of Southampton Football Club
Badger replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
My initial reaction as well, but lets just hope Veho and Saints both prosper over the next couple of years. Hardly seems making up the commercial/corporate shortfall that RK talked about but as a positive its unlikely to be too intrusive on the shirt design* or something crap like Wonga or a Chinese brewery. * although if the suggestions on the other thread are to be believed then the shirt design will be another tasteless and thankless f^ck up without the need for a sponsors logo to reduce it further -
Yep, for all those not wanting a kit similar to Stoke, or Sunderland, we can look like Nottingham Forest in the 1970's.
-
Mr C^ntese's departing gift. Awful.
-
n,o but good spin during contract talks.
-
Any advances on £105m. For that we'll throw Jonno Quick in.
-
Much better than the Leverkusen shirt for us. So should it have a central red stripe, or a central white one ? (if a central white one then it would be close to the 1976/7 candy stripe kit by Admiral). Over to you photo-mockers to produce the images. Still prefer the reverse Ajax though if possible.
-
Where does that rumour come from ? apart from Monaco of course
-
In talks with Sunderland apparently. #Huawei the'lads

Therein though lies the real issue, how committed are they or attached to MP for it to have an impact ?
