  1. Good fit. Thoroughly detestable individual going to a club I loathe (Highbury 1984 etc).
  2. Not Benny Hill's theme ?
  3. Saints are coming - Skids.
  4. What chance Man Utd will opt for Stuart Gray instead though ? We all know it makes sense.

    Saints VS SAF

Add to our part in him getting the job, it was also suggested at the time that a goal by a signing from Saints, Danny Wallace, in the FA Cup 3rd round (against either Forest or Oldham) kept him in a job at a time the vultures were staring to circle, they won the FA Cup, and that was the start of it. I also remember an unspectacular 2-2 at OT, in c1988, when Graham Baker scored with a 'hit and hope' that dropped from a great height, for one of Ferguson's signings, Jim Leighton to fumble.
  6. McCarthy (GK) from Reading.
  7. Oh sh!t, you've re-awakened a nightmare from about thirty years ago - the 'Ally McCoist factor'. McCoist had joined Sunderland for a hefty fee as a promising 19year old, he had probably scored one goal all season, when we played them at Roker Park towards the end of the season (81/82 I think when we wre seriously challenging for the title, and Sunderland in a relegation scrap.). We lost 2-0 in a midweek game, Ally McC^nt scored one of them if not both. (Sunderland sold him back to Scotland at the end of the season, from where he started his career again). Next Saturday, am fearing the worst frankly, as Di Spicable will have them fired up (or facing a firing squad on Sunday morning).
  8. Sam Vokes. A perennial HCDAJFU'er if ever there was.
  9. Is he the 'monster' at the back we need ?
  10. Is the Lincoln chairman related to Cortese by any chance ?
  11. Small square red cross - any further hints
  12. You'll no doubt be delighted at the prospect of Newport County beating skates twice next season.
  13. We've had the same praise from others before, including Sir Anal, after losing at MancU, will mean f^ck all if we go down.
  14. "ido bien desde que estoy en el edificio" Spanish for "done well since I've been in the builsing" According to Google translate. In case MP is reading this and wants to borrow it.
  15. Their fans were good, and ours - like our team - were already in 'closed season mode', but some of the trivial local rivalry with Wolves was a bit of sel indulgent crap that did not add anything to the atmosphere generally, although I'm sure it added to their big day out.
  16. I had hoped that hearing that last week might have brought home to our fans just how tiresome some of that was, not used as a licence to continue with it.
  17. Let's hope this is stil considered something to sing about after the Stoke game as well.
  18. I take no satisfaction from this either, if this is directed at my earlier reply, but I feel this might have been avoided. Christ on a bike, it was hard enough returning to this league.
  19. Glad to hear North London is still the cesspit it always was.
  20. But its not hindsight is it ? Many said this at the time.
  21. Who ? As I've said as well, we've been too busy talking about, and looking at next season - top six, top four, Italian International CB's - to concentrate on the simple matter of securing our place in this division for next season. Too many have believed their own publicity, too soon.
  22. So what was the excuse last week against WBA ?
  23. It will be no surprise to me if he is not at the helm even if we stay up, either on the last day or reach mid-table comfort next weekend. No rumours or suggestions heard, but just a gut feeling.
  24. We need an end product from him, sadly lacking for too long.
