  1. Blue line under Sheffield Wednesday, onto Everton!!! COYR, will take a point and believe we can get one if we play like we did in the second half vs Villa.
  2. Sounded like he made two good saves, but other than that they posed little threat.
  3. Am I the only one whos never heard of Gape?
  4. Having been cleared in a court, the FA charge though does seem like a bit of needless pantomime.
  5. How is Lawrie these days ? Is he 'warming' to the new regime ?
  6. I'm not Puncheon's biggest fan and always fear there could be a tantrum round the corner at any time if his track record is anything to go by. But, he is playing well at the moment and as long as he maintains the same workrate and commitment as yesterday, second half especially, then its good to have him on board (with his oar), on the bus or "in the building". Most remarkable thing for me was the combination with Richardson rather than Clyne. In the first half the Clyne/JP link did not seem to work at all. Seperated from the other in the second half and both were a revelation.
  7. Best wishes to Petrov for a speedy recovery by the way, from what I have read he has faced this with great dignity, and I understand Villa's fans support for him, but not the suggestion that Saints fans are disrespectful for not partaking in their ritual when we knew sod all about it.
  8. Both teams at every match at St Mary's this season should wear training tops with 62 emblazoned on the back. And team captains should release 62 balloons at the start of every match. Actually no, not just for this season, but for the next 24 seasons.
  9. It was in no way intended as a serious comment, and should have used an emoticom, purely a reference to the idiotic comment made by Branfoot many years ago. (Its a generation thing ! ) Not sure if his comment now amuses or still rankles, probably both.
  10. Sorry but he'll score less than Speedie & Dixon. But 15-20 range I suspect.
  11. You're a tad more forgiving after the Blackpool fiasco than me. Welcome back Cheesey, but not sure about your avatar. Should'nt it be a photograph of Suzanne Dando's fridge ?
  12. And the last Pole we had in goal proved to be a clown. I'm sure Artur is far better . I don't want to see a backpage headline reading: "Artur drops a Boruc!"
  13. Do we really need to sign a goalkeeper with a problem ?
  14. Bringing Burley in was considered a bit of a coup at the time though and many were ecstatic especially after his record start at Hearts that season. At the time he was a name many considered beyond us after Saggy had p!ssed off. I think we were fearing Bassett/Wise at first then expecting the Dutch Revolution (Wotte and AN Van Other) although that arrived about two years later with Wotte still coming to Saints but the Van Other failing to make his mark anywhere else (name escapes me).
  15. or at least, we used to
  16. Curbishley is a f'kin little creep, only marginally above 'arry in the evolutionary chain in my view. Really hope NA gets the win on Saturday, so we can put some of these names back under their stones for a bit longer.
  17. or that Gazzaniga had not been considered for an early promotion to international duty by his country. Spoke to a Gillingham supporting friend at the weekend by the way, he said his first and most lasting impression was of a young GK who really commanded the penalty area, and defence in front of him ( almost as "a young Peter Schmeichal" was the description given).
  18. Only blemish on that outcome was that the tart Ronaldo scored the winner. Anyway, with Real still in the chase we can also rile out Jose coming to St Mary's too soon !
  19. Whatever else they might be, they are above us in the league. I have more time for a "tinpot" Reading fan, than a plastic manc, arse fan, or any scouse fan in perpetual mourning.
  20. Our scouting network should surely have had the Premiership in mind from possibly last October, Christmas at the latest, to prepare. Unless of course the network itself is not up to standard ? I too have considered did we come up a year too early, and can't totally agree as failure to do so would probably have seen Lambert,Lallana, Schneiderlin moving on last summer. Agree with David's conclusion that failure to strengthen defence- and more crucially- GK, has cost us and will continue to do so.
  21. Are you suggesting Reed went there for some sort of 'pep' talk ? As you say " very likely nothing" in it. Anyone know if there is any history between Les Reed and Hoddle in their long and illustrious careers ? Purely out of interest of course.
  22. Would that be a step forward though ? Or, would even NC see it as such ?
  23. No complaints how Jos turned out but still think Gorkks would have been the better signing.
  24. Hansen is a c^nt. But as you and Maxi say, his observations are justified on our defending.
  25. I think ££££ going somewhere, or to someone, was part of the decision , even if it did not end up in his own pocket.
