  1. Not always been a fan of him but it seemed to me his presence in South Africa was potentially beneficial,as the squad were likely to respect him - as far as any of the overpaid prima doona tossers can 'respect' any other living person - and when he was seen on camera he seemed to display some semblance of caring and calling out of instruction. That was a damned sight more than Mr Cornetto or the morose and inarticulate Pearce could muster. As for today,he was at Wimbledon on a day out with his son.Good luck to him. Shame Beckham did not wave a flag of St George when the rat faced caber tosser lost.
  2. *lets just hope its not sories of Pardew "coming out" then in the Sunday tabloids instead.

  4. I'm sure he is a good reserve, but I'm not convinced that I want to rely on him as a medium term replacement if KD had a dip in form or was injured for say 6-8 weeks.
  5. So that at least proves that 1)He is still alive - or at least he was when you saw him - and has not been murdered and buried under a patio (Sorry,it must be a Gloucester thing!) 2)As he was in London he was probably on his way to or from Harrods to meet the Arab about the Fulham job.
  6. Not sure I would want to even consider Forecast or Holmes as squad players and Wotton may be a(nother) season beyond it. GK:I'm not convinced I want to rely on Bart as back up tbh. FB: well documented that this area (rb)needs improving CB: yes need one more; Jaidi cannot play twice a week ,Martin is inexperienced and the jury is out on Seabourne MF:I didn't realise we were so short in this area, although I'd include Lallana here. Strikers: ditto as MF.
  7. Without Cortese we might not have had a future. As others have pointed out the OS article is dated from May 2009,so I'm not prepared to use this as a stick to join in and beat Cortese with it.Yes,I would like the names of former greats to remain but somewhere here someone is being selective in their presentation of "facts". I also think the Ambassadors Suite is a good idea,as for football fans the prospect of meeting and hearing former greats is a major attraction in the package offered.I'm surprised if the club do not want to endorse this concept.
  8. Both Huddersfield and Peterboro have been active recruiting. Having said that we have a strong nucleus of a squad so are perhaps looking at specific positions and am hopeful that the quality of player we are seeking might make it a more complex deal to complete. The players Huddersfield etc are signing might only be on the fringe of our squad wheras we need a couple to go into the first team to make a difference.

    Memberships

Are'nt memberships due for an announcement today ? Perhaps I'll have to wait until 11.25pm though.
  10. A promising goalkeeper who might be available - on loan at least - is Ruddy at Everton who I understand was quite impressive on loan at Motherwell last season. Hope KD remains however.
  11. Brighton also recruiting three for midfield, including two Argentinian players.Lets hope they are as successful as our South American imports. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/brighton/8772235.stm

  15. Can't imagine anyone asking for "a pint of Rupert's please".Especially any Saints fan.
  16. Surprised no one has suggested Tommy Widdrington or Nick Holmes as they are routinely touted whenever the Saints job is available. Of the original list only Redknapp is a possible contender as the FA would not go back to a manager with a proven record of not coming up with the goods at international level.England have never gone the route of just appointing a key player without managerial experience so that rules out Shearer (or Beckham).
  17. That wasn't asking a lot was it ?
  18. Agree totally with your entire post. Rooney's refusal to sing the national anthem is in my view a disgrace. He should have chosen to play for Republic of Ireland as his brother has stated his ambition is to given the chance but no doubt the ££signs are too lucrative with England. They are a bunch of c^nts indeed.
  19. Yep.You and I for the centre of defence.
  20. I felt the "language barrier" was just used as a bit of a shield in his post match interview on BBC today. Totally agree with your last point, good individuals - who are largely in it as individuals and egos - rather than a team.
  21. It occurred to me earlier that perhaps Harry might not be too keen on a job away from club management as he enjoys the 'day to day' involvement, and of course the transfer activity side of things at club level. But do you think Harry's squad selection could in anyway be influenced by agents (of players) with whom he has previously established a rapport? Doubt The FA will go the Harry route with the issues hanging over him though.
  22. Certainly true in Sven's case.
  23. Interesting point but the Premership remains the promised land all clubs aspire to. It may seem a holy grail yet in truth,as you point out,it might be more of a poisoned chalice. Looking forward to an honest promotion push next season.
