Less educated is quantifiable, less knowledgable about the issue isn’t. The reality is you’re showing extreme arrogance to assume that just because people didn’t agree with you, they had less knowledge of the subject. Not going to happen, FIFA are adamant the final decision must be down to the on pitch referee. Rightly so imo. The issues yesterday wasn’t the VAR, the issue was poor refereeing. I was totally against any technology being involved, but seeing it in action has changed my mind. My understand was it was ambiguous, with Liverpool claiming that the specific clause was that they had to “consider” any bid over £40mil. In other countries release clauses are actually buy out clauses. Technically the player buys out the remaining years of his contract, though clearly the money comes from the buying club. I think some of you metro sexuals don’t get it. Women pundits- Played or managed zero games in men’s football, chick football is ****ing woeful, it’s not the same sport. They’ve done nothing to deserve being a pundit, if they didn’t have a vagina they wouldn’t be doing so. Having all these chicks on is just a tick box, they’re on because they’ve got a vagina, no other reason. None of them have played men’s football at any level and this is a men’s football competition. American attitude towards illegal immigration has always been harsh, and racist long long before Donald Trump. Nobody could get elected without sounding tough on it. It was racist way back in the 80’s, and I should know having been an illegal in Florida for over 4 years. I’ve been on building sites when they turned up and rounded up the Mexican workers, never once checking the status of us white guys. The people we worked for, both contractors and the public, knew we were illegal but didn’t give a Shiite because we weren’t Mexican or Haitian. I was arrested for disorderly intoxication, charged, fined and never once had my immigration status checked. A Scouse taxi driver I knew served time for hitting his girlfriends lover with a tire wrench. Once he’d served his time he was sure he’d be deported, but no he was just released and INS never got involved. I only knew of one white bloke that got deported (his ex grassed him up), but I knew of hundreds of Mexican labourers in that time. People writing him off before he’s even signed need to have a look at themselves. Perhaps I’m a bit old fashioned but I’ll wait to see him play for Saints. I also believe clubs our size have to sign some players with potential, there are 26 year olds in Scotland who are at the peak of their game. Obviously you wouldn’t want to sign one of them, but part and parcel of scouting is identifying the ones that can improve. Put the guy with better players, in a better league and he could blossom into it. Amateurs like us wont be able to tell, but a professional scouting set up, that’s monitored him for months, if not years, could do. Championship players don’t stay championship standard their whole career, some thrive at a higher level. Maybe he’s one, maybe he’s not, but £7mil is peanuts in the modern game.
