I’d imagine we go for the best players available within our budgets. Do you seriously believe that if a regular starter for Celtic was available, good enough and within our price range we wouldn’t want him because of this change of strategy. I can see the conversation now “ Hey Les there’s this guy at Celtic, will be the next VvD, available for £15 million and his agent is open to a deal” “How many games has he played this season” “Every one” “Sorry not interested, haven’t Malaga got a bench warmer, you know our policy has changed”. Even if your ridiculous theory had some truth in it, the bench warmer policy still delivered our 4th cup final appearance in living memory and one of our best league positions in our entire history. Without looking it up, I doubt we’ve had more than a dozen seasons better than 8th. The original question is why the board haven’t been sacked after delivering errors “time after time”. If you’re going to change the entire board every time the side has a poor season, regardless of what they’ve delivered previously, it’s a recipe for complete and utter mayhem. Had he said that then it would of been ridiculous. Probably as ridiculous as people taking a forum myth and posting it as fact. What he actually said was “Nathan Redmond can be Southampton's Thierry Henry”. Redmond is a good player. I can see a player lots of qualities and for me it’s a pity to leave him on the right. I can see in the future he can play in as a striker. He even added “Redmond and Thierry are two different players but I see similarities between them. They have the ability to shoot with their right foot and to curl the ball.” Absolutely nowhere did he call him “The next Thierry Henry. If I said Matt is Southampton’s George Best, does that mean I’m calling him the next Bestie, saying Ted Bates is Southampton’s Matt Busby, doesn’t mean he’s a better manager than Sir Matt. He clearly meant that like Henry, Redmond could be a winger that’s converted to a striker and be better for it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Behave. “Time and time again”. 7th,6th,8th, 2 European qualifications and one cup final since Cortese left. So your “time and time again” is actually three quarters of one season. Standing by people who’ve delivered in the past on the basis of a few months struggle is not a “joke” , it’s what most employers do. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Guido Carrillo - Official: Free Transfer to Elche
Lord Duckhunter replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Yes, agreed. We've brought so many strikers since Gabbi scored 6 in his first 4. Before that Austin took ages to get off the mark, I remember thinking during those 7 long minutes , is he ever going to score. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

God, from his couple of performances you can see he lacks mental toughness. Wow, you really are an expert aren’t you. Makes our two wins away at West Brom even better, we managed to grind out those results with a flake up front. Mind you Dawson, McAuley, Evans and Hegazi are pretty soft, not much mental toughness needed to play upfront alone against those fairies Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

I wouldn’t take your opinions from a podcast if I was you, Gab Marcotti predicted Lamina would be a flop on The Game podcast. Why don’t you give us your opinions. From what you’ve seen so far what makes you think he’ll be a flop. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Would Puel still have been sacked if we'd won the Cup?

God he must be rubbish. Argentina are useless up front and he can’t get a sniff. They’ve only got Agüero, Messi, Higuaín Dybala. God I bet they wish Brett Ormerod was an Argie, he’d get a game ahead of that lot . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

Has he missed any sitters yet, has he even missed any that maybe he should have done better, because I can’t remember any. Perhaps one of the experts could expand their scouting report a bit further than, he’s Shiite , he’s always been Shiite , Monaco pulled our pants down type of thing. What is it that you’ve seen that draws the conclusion that he won’t score, is he not getting into to scoring positions for our crack assist squad to pick him out, is he missing chances he should bury, maybe he’s receiving the ball in the wrong areas, or receiving it too square on, is he not finding space, what is it. I’m genuinely interested in them sharing their knowledge, because all I can see is a tidy player, working hard who hasn’t had a sniff of goal or been given any decent service. They'll be a lot of moaning on here as well. How shiete city were, how lucky clueless Pell was, we couldn't score apart from the spot kicks, we're still going down, the semi final will be a distraction. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I'd like to know how he lost the dressing room. Was it the sessions he put on, was it his man management skills, did the players not think he was good enough for them. Was it that Fonte and other big figures couldn't accept falling down the pecking order, or playing up after not getting a move. "Losing the dressing room" is a catch all phrase thrown around regularly at various clubs. Personally I'd like to speak to the experienced pro's, guys like Davo or OR, straight professionals to find out the truth. One things for sure, if the players were moaning about him affecting their performances they look pretty stupid now. They had a chance to show everyone how much he held them back and how much he affected morale, they're now in the bottom 3 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Even if we somehow beat city , chances are it'll be Chelsea, Utd or Spurs in the semis. Needed the big 4 to meet each other or at least 2 of them to open up the other half of the draw. Absolutely no ****ing chance of anyone outside those 4 winning it now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Pellegrino: Under Pressure Footballers are taking Sleeping Pills
Lord Duckhunter replied to yellow&blue's topic in The Saints
For gods sake. The blokes a pretty poor manager but do people need to jump down his throat every single time he makes a comment. The guys played for Barca, played in champions a league final, I think he knows a bit more about the pressures of being a footballer than any of the experts on here. The mental pressure of top flight sport is based around the pressure sportsmen put themselves under. Of course our players aren’t suffering what we associate with pressure, forget paying their mortgage I doubt they’ve even got one, they can buy whatever they want, when they want. They have the best of everything & a lifestyle we can only dream of, but the pressure they’ll put themselves under will be every bit as intense . I’ve no doubt some of them have problems sleeping, and are prescribed tablets, what on earth is wrong with the manager discussing it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I agree. I think Puel is a decent manager and that's what he achieved . An exceptional one would have maybe won the cup, gone further in Europe & perhaps finished above Everton. With an average manager this squad should not be involved in a relegation battle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He didn't try very hard. This is what he said when campaigning and attracting criticism for being "soft " on the right to own guns. “I believe in the Second Amendment, It’s there written on the paper. It guarantees a right to bear arms. No matter how many times people try to twist my words around — I taught constitutional law, I know a little about this. I get it.” He's actually complaining that his opponents are trying to twist his words and portray him as anti gun. Until somebody has the balls to do what neither Clinton or Obama did and directly contradict and argue against the constitution, can they even begin to address this. It's going to be long generational battle, but the first tiny step is somebody standing up and telling their citizens that "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Has no place in the modern world. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Since losing Pelle, Big Vic & Mane we have an average bunch of players. An average bunch that with a good manager would be top 10, and with a bad one fighting relegation. Apart from the full backs & maybe Lamina, the rest are much of a muchness. The 3 centre halves are pretty similar level. PEH & JWP, does it really matter which plays. Is there much between Tadic & Boufal, OR would have been a massive miss last season, but somebody could perform that role to a similar standard he has this season. Even our strikers without Austin are just average. Long runs around and can't score, Gabbi good movement but doesn't score, Guido gives us a little bit of focus, but doesn't appear able to score. It's not like anyone missing will be missed that much. look at the keepers, both just average. We've a squad of 6/10 players, with maybe 3 exceptions. However the 3 exceptions aren't strikers or goal makers like Le Tiss was. If 5 of our regulars were missing, that'd be disastrous for other sides at the bottom. We'd bring 5 in and they'd be no worse, crucially they'd be no better either. A manager is only as good as the tools he's given and since RK left, they've been given some blunt tools. There is no way on earth anyone could take this bunch to top 6, not a chance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

God, I bet that was a tough sell. How on earth did he persuade him. “Well Mauricio, being out of work and pretty much unknown as a manager would you like to come to the worlds richest league”. All those big clubs queuing up to employ him, and Cortese managed to get him, amazing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
