This is it for me. I don’t really care how talented he is in France, Spain, Switzerland or wherever, he may just as well be talented at Basketball. Until we move the club and play in a league he’s talented in, he’s pretty much a waste of time for us. I’m willing to give anyone a second chance, but if you’re not good enough you’re not good enough. Nothing I’ve seen from him and nothing I’ve seen in Hughes coaching career ( in terms of developing Mavericks ala Bally with Matt), makes me think he’ll come good. He’s been average from day one. He just had a decent defence in front of him. Even when he was keeping clean sheet after clean sheet, I don’t recall brilliant saves, the other sides just didn’t hit the target. Exactly. Although it’s not my pocket, it’s the shareholders who benefit. I’m just an employee who manages other employees. I’ve posted many times that the 3 things that suppress the poorest wages are 1. Immigration 2. Working families tax credits 3. Minimum wage. Immigration speaks for itself, it increases supply. Tax credits just subsidise employers and the minimum wage has become a benchmark rather than a floor. The ones with families have it topped up with benefits or the other half works full time, bringing in an equal amount. The single ones tend to be nippers or immigrants. I’m always weary of claiming why people voted, but I don’t think this is right. I think people didn’t believe Osborne’s predications or didn’t think it applied to them. If you’ve got nothing you’ve got nothing to lose. The people who work for me earn about 16K, I doubt they believe any Government would let them see their salary drop to £11,700. Of course the actual figure is based on slower growth in future years, but that got lost in all the project fear overkill. From my point of view, nothing’s more depressing than putting a price on independence or sovereignty. I felt the same about the SNP’s independence campaign. You either believe Scotland should be independent or you don’t, saying I do provided it doesn’t cost me money, is hardly Braveheart stuff. In actual fact there’s something quite heartening in people voting for principled, rather than monetary reasons. If Donald Trump agreed to pay every UK household 5k a year for 20 years provided The UK became a state of The US, I’m sure the Remoaners would turn that down, even though they’d be making themselves 100k poorer. Some things are more important than money. If you’re making independence & sovereignty decisions based on how it effects your finances, then ultimately everything has a price. Less educated is quantifiable, less knowledgable about the issue isn’t. The reality is you’re showing extreme arrogance to assume that just because people didn’t agree with you, they had less knowledge of the subject. I’d imagine many many leave voters of my age will be in the same boat as me. Supportive of the EEC, until Maastricht when the nature of the beast changed. My educational level never changed, neither did my knowledge of the issue. What changed was the EEC, I didn’t suddenly become less educated, or less knowledgable of the issue. The other point you seem to be missing is the correlation between education and the vote. You seem to imply that people voted leave because they’re not as clever or educated. Not going to happen, FIFA are adamant the final decision must be down to the on pitch referee. Rightly so imo. The issues yesterday wasn’t the VAR, the issue was poor refereeing. I was totally against any technology being involved, but seeing it in action has changed my mind. My understand was it was ambiguous, with Liverpool claiming that the specific clause was that they had to “consider” any bid over £40mil. In other countries release clauses are actually buy out clauses. Technically the player buys out the remaining years of his contract, though clearly the money comes from the buying club.
