Peter Hitchens was spot on about the debt and deficit on QT last night . He gave both establishment parties clog , but was particularly hard on the Tory economic plan . For the record he also had a dig at Nigel , so I'm not posting out of any bias . If he didn't have such an annoying condescending manner , he talks quite a lot of sense . People are put off by the 20% Christian nonsense he spouts and the manner he spouts it , but he nails the established way of thinking time and time again . Him and mark littlewood are head and shoulders above other commentators IMO . Littlewood edging it because he's a big saints fan .

You seem to be dealing in whoopers yourself, perhaps you could work next to Nigel in burger king. The EUSSR health card specifically excludes health tourism. The scheme is to allow people to continue their stay in a country without having to return home for medical care; as such, it does not cover people who have visited a country for the purpose of obtaining better medical care. Therefore if a Bulgarian aids victim wanted to move to the UK because our treatment is better, we are perfectly entitled under EUSSR dictate to refuse him free treatment .

Just looked up the said poll , and they asked two questions " who performed worst" , but also "who performed best". As you posted Nigel was voted by 22% as having performed worst. I wonder why you didn't post the " who performed best" result. ? Could it be because Nigel won that with 24% , as opposed to cleggys 10% .

Complete and utter nonsense. Firstly, where does this poll come from , other polls have milliband winning, some have Farage winning , some Cameron , and the majority Sturgeon . It doesn't really matter what a uk wide poll says as the snp are only standing in Scotland . It doesn't really matter that 20% of the people thought Nigel performed worst , unless any of those 20% were kippers or thinking of becoming so . The leaders will have targeted spcefic types of voter to appeal to, rather than a balanced sample of uk voters .A national poll is a complete red herring . How did Nigel poll with ex Tories , Milliband with floating voters and how did Cleggy poll in the south west and in the constituencies where their cabinet members are standing . These debates are totally over hyped , Cleggy was the " winner" of the last election and ended up with less mp's than the pervious parliament .

I didn't watch the debates , but caught up with them on here and other social media . One thing is obvious to me , but nobody seems to touch on it , so maybe I'm missing something . All media is awash with who won , or who was best at this or that , but that's not the important thing . Surely all they need to do is move a small % of the electorate . Nigel's HIV comments may have cost him a " win" or made people mad, but those people were never going to vote ukip anyway it's not like anyone sat there and thought " right , that's cost Nigel my vote ". It's more likely some floating Tories , working class labourites or non voters will agree with him , so outraged people who hated him in the first place don't really matter. The greens may have only got a small % of people thinking they won, but if some of them are labour leaning lefties , then Bennetts done her job . Everybody looks at it through the prejudice of their own politics . I felt before the debate that the hardest job tonight was Red Eds . He had to appeal to " soft " Tory voters , whilst holding up the Scottish part of his vote . Not an easy thing to do with SNP there who basically had a free hit at him . SNP had a perfect set of circumstances , Cameron wants the sweatys to vote SNP , so didn't need to go hard on them . And she genuinely is an outsider and not a Westminster politician ( despite being a politician her whole life ) . My questions to those who watched it is ; 1. Would Ed's performance move a few votes in Tory / Lab marginals and also head off the ukip challenge in a few urban poor areas . 2.Did Nigel's performance make tactical voting more likely in Thanet to keep him out . 3.Will Sturgon's performance play well in Scotland and maintain the stranglehold they appear to have , 4. will Bennetts performance switch a few labour lefties and sandal wearers from the lib/dumbs ? These things will matter more than " who won"

The Rooney rule is a pile of pony . Define "black" , surely there are various shades of colour . What about Asians , or maybe chicks , or gays , why don't we ensure every vacancy in football is opened up to everyone . At the end of the day football clubs would find an excuse to hire The Yorkshire Ripper if he was available and a great manager . They're certainly not going to say , we'll employ , racists , biters , ****ers, drink drivers , murderers , and complete and utter tosspots because they're the best at te job, but we draw the line at A black manager . Barnes is a shiete manager , end of. That's why he didn't get another job . He only got the Celtic job on the back of his playing career , so to start moaning about " opportunity " is a bit much .

I always find it strange that any mention of privatising the health service or making vast amounts of money via private provision , always seems to overlook doctors role in this . Mrs duck needed a non emergency op . Without going in to too many details , it wasn't that big a deal , but it was bothering her . She saw a nhs specialist and was given a date about 10 months away . It was really getting her down , so being the modern metrosexual hubby I am , I said " I'll pay for it" . Rang up and was quoted £250 for initial consultation , then about 3k plus cost of drugs for procedure ( if memory serves ) . Went to the initial consultation and was seen by the same specialist we'd been seeing on nhs . Yet doctors representatives will in in the forefront of " save our nhs" campaigns

All the lefties getting their knickers in a twist over it, will change their tune come the EU referendum. Then they'll want us to " listen to business" .

I always thought The thick of it took the **** out of both parties, I didn't realise it was just Tory bashing.

The anti tax avoiders Labour Party, have today got their first celebratory endorsement. The bloke from the office. What could possibly go wrong for this anti tax avoidance party and their famous supporter. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/alison-phillips-rich-tax-avoiders-1759478 Is she from Portsmouth?
-
He'll hold the vote, its the renegotiation that will be the BS. He'll do a Wilson and claim some spurious tinkering around the edges and hype it as some sort of major change in our relationship with the EU. The establishment are going to con the British people again.
-
Bercow has been a pretty decent speaker , however the power of the speaker means that his election should be by secret ballot. The policy was right , but the timing of it turned it into a political act. Tory MPs get accused of all sorts, but some deserve respect for voting against the government and defeating it.
-
The fact that Cameron will make the cabinet all vote " in' or be sacked if he calls this referendum after his fake " renegotiation says it all. Party leaders leading yes men with no principle . Wilson allowed his cabinet to vote out and remain in position.
-
The SNP have ( or had, I don't know what they'll do next time) the principle of never voting on English only matters.Sinn fein have the principle of not sitting in the UK parliament and ukip have the principle of voting against anything that increases the scope of the EU. That's why they would have voted against. As for the pro EU Torys , I don't know why they voted the way they did.
-
"We will oppose an in/out referendum on Europe," Stewart Hosie tells SNP conference to rapturous, irony-deficient cheers.

If you think about it , it's all rather old fashioned and bizarre . The TV poll tax funds the bbc , yet you still need one regardless of whether you watch it or not . I'm sure if I purposed a Daily Mail poll tax , that you needed a licence to read any paper , but the revenue went to The Daily Mail , I think you would describe me as a swivel eyed loon . Yet I'm sure you'll be defending this particular poll tax
-
So provided I don't watch BBC on my TV , I don't need a licence ? That's great, a real step forward . If the authorities come banging on the door , I'll let them in and show them your post and it'll save me a jail term. I'll even make them a coffee in my anti immigration Labour mug.
-
He's really not a " great" player.

Nail on head. The consumer has the power to damage companies , whether its tax avoiders like Amazon & Dyson or great hate figures like The Sun or Daily Mail. The fact they don't do so either means that they're not that bothered, put price above principles or are morons . Its not like the BBC where you can be put in jail for not buying their product.
-
Lay off Canadians , any country that produces Neil Young & 4 of The Band deserves respect .

They're getting a bit of clog in the Mail on Sunday from the Wba chairman. But it is another example, Portsmouth, that most irks West Brom, who lost to a ‘financially doped’ Pompey in the 2008 FA Cup semi-finals. Portsmouth went on to win the trophy before a spectacular meltdown caused by the unsustainable spending undertaken to assemble and pay Harry Redknapp’s squad at that time. "It still pinches us at West Brom that we lost our last FA Cup semi-final to a team the opposition basically couldn’t afford,’ said Jenkins. ‘Our fans went home miserable that night. Theirs were jubilant. I suspect they would want to swap places now though.’
-
Surely your " fair share" is what the law decides you should pay. You can't have an arbitrary definition of " fairness" because that's too subjective . Personally I think using a deed of variation, which is basically changing someone's will after they've died to minimise tax is pretty " unfair" , whereas The millibands obviously think its OK. If people break the law, then lock them up. If the law is unfair, then change it. But if people like Jimmy Carr , Gary Barlow and Ed Milliband want to legally avoid tax, what's wrong with that?
-
The Millibands used a deed of variance to avoid more inheritance tax. Is that right or wrong ?
-
Surely repeating the same mistakes over and over again can't be called caring.
