Ted Heath was an absolute disaster, it needed Mrs T and people like Norman Tebbit to push the wet wing of the party to the sides and take the country forward . Heath was an incredibly weak leader with a massive chip on his shoulder , even weaker than Johnnie Major. " One nation " what a load of old bollards . It's just a cheap political slogan for people who haven't got the balls to change anything or force their ideas through.

Complete and utter rubbish . Cameron is a modern day Ted Heath . The people heading up the Tory party are nearer to Major , Clarke and Hestletine than they are to Thatcherite policies . Cameron is a wet always has been and always will be . The only thing dragging him towards his party is his slim majority . If he had a majority of 50 we'd have another wishy washy soaking wet government , exactly the same as the coalition .

I think you've hit the nail on the head . I keep trying to tell my kids not to work hard in life , otherwise they'll end up with **** all.

Hockey , you're having a nightmare on here . If you seriously think the way to win back the voters of England is to move to the left you are puddled .

The state pension is subject to a triple lock . Therefore the better and more productive the economy the better off pensioners will be.

What a way to run a leadership election . Lend a bloke votes to get him in the ballot and then allow anyone to pay a few quid and vote . I wouldn't trust this lot to run a bath , let alone a country .

Bit unfair on Michael Howard saying the Tories " survived" him. He was brought in as a replacement for IDS and to steady the ship. Nobody really thought he could win against Blair and he fought an OK election. The thing he did do was ensure there wasn't the meltdown labour is in after a defeat. He stayed on as leader and he also promoted the people who would feature prominently in the subsequent leadership election. Allowing them to show their credentials and ensure a pretty smooth handover to Call me Dave. He acted with dignity and fortitude after his defeat and the Tories owe him a great deal. As for Corbyn , he's clearly as raving leftie loon, but he's an honest leftie loon. He's clearly in tune with a vast number of labour members and trade unionists . The party rules were clearly designed to keep extreme views off the ballot paper by putting a threshold on MPs nominations . The people who messed up aren't the members who will vote for him, but the idiots that didn't want him , yet " lent" him their vote to get on the ballot. A particularly uninspiring choice awaits the Brothers , particularly when it looks like Tom Watson looks like he'all win the deputy . Corbyn & Watson really is a Tory dream ticket, they may even get Diane Flabert in the shadow cabinet as well. Kendall's too sensible , Burnhams professional Northerner act act is wearing thin, so it looks like only Mrs Balls can save them from ridicule. If Corbyn does it , it'll be funny as ****.

Peter Allis is an utter helmet and should have retired years ago .Years ago he used to turn up at Ferndown Golf Club occasionally and was the type of bloke who gives golf clubs a bad name . You only have to see how Sky have transformed football punditry and they'll do the same for golf . Blowers is the same on TMS , contrast him with Shane Warne and Michael Holding on sky . The only decent old fossil left in the commentary box is Sir Geoffrey . Allis is just embarrassing .

But that's the point, they didn't just give up their lives for " our " country. They made the ultimate sacrifice for the whole of Europe , for the Falkland islanders ( I know they're Brits but would the twitter generation lay down their lives for a piece of rock thousands of miles away) , for Cypriots , for Bosnians . To try and make out the young now more enlightened or kinder than previous generations is nonsense. There are just as many racists and bigots between 20-30 as there are between 70-80. Difference is I doubt if many 80 year olds shout their mouths off , swearing and bigging themselves up. They tend to just live and let live.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
Lord Duckhunter replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
Why are people so impatient? The selling club may want to get a replacement in first, they may be holding out for more money or even trying to encourage an auction for their player. The player could be holding out for a better deal or a bigger club. Do people really believe we're so incompetent we haven't got a short list of 4 or 5 and we're not working on something. What do people want, Les ringing Celtic 5 times a day and getting himself arrested for stalking? -
CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal

Fox is a championship player who did a job for us the championship, end of story. Why people still have to moan about him, god only knows. We moved up a level, he wasn't good enough , neither was Billy Sharp or Dan Harding, big deal. He is one of the players that got us promotion, so he has my respect. There actually havent been that many players who have in our long history. -
Complete and utter pony. What a complete tosser. Going on about how enlightened " his generation" are and " its older people " that are ignorant. Is that the " older people" who risked their lives for foreigners all over the world , and built a great country that gives the freedom for spotty big mouths from his generation to spout bull . The gist of his argument seems to be that its fate we're British and just down to luck . wow, that's insightful. I doubt if there's anyone from this " older generation " who thinks otherwise, but that doesn't mean we can abandon borders or countries, everybody having the right to live where they want. He's even more annoying than little Owen Jones and needs a slap. Hopefully one of " his parents" generation who fought in Cyprus or The Falklands or protected Catholics in Belfast or Muslims in Bosnia will deliver it.

Les Reed - tells it like it is ......
Lord Duckhunter replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Its all so confusing, perhaps someone could publish a guide to ethical transfers. Player on England duty gets tapped up , wrong. Player on Portuguese duty, OK. Ron talks about another clubs player , OK . Brenda does in , wrong. Journo says Liverpool interested in player, wrong . Journo says saints interested , OK. Its really hard to know when to be outraged and when not to. -

Didn't we leak the Toby legal action to journos , is that ethical leaking or Liverpool leaking? -

So its OK for managers to talk about how much they like a player, but wrong for a reporter to report it? -
Perhaps all the lefties banging on about paying more tax can let us know how France is doing since Hollande did exactly what they're calling for. Before banging on about the unfairness of multi nationals avoiding tax , perhaps they should also consider why these companies are based in Luxembourg ect , part of the wonderful EUSSR they love so much.

I hope you soppy lefties are putting your money where your mouths are and voting for Comrade Corbyn in the upcoming leadership battle . Come on Brothers how you gonna get your socialist utopia with Mrs Balls or Andy Burnham leading the peoples party? The problem with the lefties on here and most modern lefties is they have a massive credibility gap when it comes to the EU. "Save OUR nhs from privatisation " whilst the EU in the form of TTIP is actually going to open it up more than any nasty Tory ever could. Renationalise the railways , well you better hurry up because the Fourth Railway Package will impose privatisation on domestic railway services in member states , and lefties will never veto the sacred EU. The EU suits "The Man" whether it cuts his payroll or limits his tax burden , it is basically a corporate cartel . That's why people like Bob Crow & Tony Benn were against it . Some are starting to realise , it's even starting to dawn on Little Owen Jones . So the first step on your way to your socialist dream is to vote NO in the EU referendum .

Players Who Never Should Have Left Southampton
Lord Duckhunter replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Saints
I agree with the op , Steve Williams sticks out for me. Not necessarily for leaving but where he went. George Graham well and truly ****ed up his career . He was class , touch and steel . Should have had a wonderful career at someone like utd or Liverpool , but arsenal weren't Arsene Wengers Arsenal in those days . Would have been a fantastic modern midfielder if he was in his peak now . Souness like , IMO . Jimmy Case , what a tosspot Branfoot was for getting rid of him. I was also gutted when Maik Taylor left , just because Paul Jones was Dave's buddy . I thought he could have been a top keeper , I know he had a pretty decent career , but thought he would have had a better one with us . -
I agreed with everything you said until this piece of pony .

Do other teams see us as weak & ripe for picking?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Samuel's has got a massive hobby horse and that's FFP, he can't appear on Sky or Talksport without droning on about it. He claims that it makes the rich richer and the have nots weaker , and he holds us up as an example of a club hamstrung by FFP. This " weak" stuff just plays into that. I think he's totally right about FFP but slightly off course on this. I don't think its a question of SFC being any weaker than stoke, Swansea, Everton or anyone else outside the top 6 , its just that there's a gap appearing between the top 6 and everyone else. Unless we go stupid and abandon pay restraint it will remain so. Its hardly Reed and co's fault that they've done such a good job that our players are in such demand . -
I thought the whole reason for the takeover was a new ground . Do you really believe only Rupert could get us out of The Dell?
-
Nor did not having a pot to **** in personally , having a massive ego , or employing a rugby coach . Lowe wanted to be where we are now on the cheap . Would he have invested in Rickie lambert , Jose ect to buy us out of league 1 . Taken the gamble of spending to get where we are . Of course he wouldn't . It doesn't take a genius to want to be like us , the genius is in actually getting there , in appointing the right men , in running the club right , in investing when it's needed and getting rid of people at the right time . Lowe couldn't do it . Instead of looking at the club and thinking this is what Lowe wanted all along , look at it the other way round . Where would we be now if instead of a 2 bob reverse takeover, we'd been taken over by Marcus and Nicola then. I'll always believe that we missed a massive opportunity back then and nothing that has happened since has ever changed my view on that .

Schneiderlin Joins Manchester United (Official)
Lord Duckhunter replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints
According to this forum Toby was a top 4 player. Morgan is , so surely if they keep buying top 4 players they'll become a top 4 club. I don't particularly like spurs but what's wrong with ambition and wanting to sign better players than they have now? If they get Morgan and keep the keeper , they'll have a pretty decent side, certainly a lot better than ours .
