  1. The third place play off is a joke game. Its just a glorified friendly, no proper players give a toss about it.
  2. What a load of old pony . " Scientific" evidence. There is no evidence either way no matter how many phoney " studies citing various papers " . The only facts are where we are now, the only truth is what we're living because there's no way of proving or disproving any other theory. The fact is we have a low wage economy with many many people not earning a living wage. Some people think increasing the supply of low skilled labour surpressed wages at the bottom end of the market. Its not provable or disprovable it is just an opinion. However I've yet to meet anyone who thinks increasing the supply of labour makes companies increase salaries. If that's the case maybe we should let Turkey join the EU , open our doors to millions of them and watch the wages of our poorest rocket upwards.
  3. Depends on which other measures were taken at the same time. If the minimum wage was increased to a living wage & immigration was controlled , there would be job loses short term but in the longer run we would have higher wages for unskilled labour. Its not really something you can do in the present climate , the time for this is during the boom years , unfortunately Gordon Brown did the exact opposite during his years of growth .
  4. Do you really believe that we didn't try & get him without this clause or that we didn't try and make it permanent in Jan ?
  5. What happens if AM had notified us that they were going to buy out the clause , but hadn't paid it . They are guilty of late payment , but plenty of clubs have been late in paying transfer fees . They may well want to pay the buy out fee with money they get from spurs . Morally wrong , but not black and white . I guess it all depends on the wording of the deal , was it specifically linked to saints receiving the cash by X date or did they just need to notify us by that date . It seems unbeliable that a club could be so unprofessional as to not notify us in time , so being late with the payment seems the most likely to me . Maybe a late payment does trigger Saints clause , but who knows . My gut feeling is he may have to come out and ask for a move to spurs . We may get a few extra quid , but I can't see us forcing a player to sign , who has said he wants to go elsewhere . I know people will jump up and down and say he's said he's happy coming here , but that was when it was all up in the air . What do people think his choice will be if he's forced to make one ? And quite frankly if he wants to sign for spurs **** him , let's get someone else in.
  6. Which bit? Sounds plausible that thy told us they were invoking the clause but didn't pay up in time . Something's obviously happened their end and not paying in time is as likely as not having done anything and just let the clause time out . A lot of reports suggest Levy was over there and an agreement reached . It's perfectly plausible that he prefers spurs over us , in fact I'd say most neutrals would suggest it was ******** that he preferred saints to spurs .
  7. If companies can't afford to pay people a living wage , then they're not financially viable . The modern Tory party only seems to believe in the free market when it helps companies . To work there needs to be a free market in wages and labour . If I need £10 an hour to be better off than on the dole , I don't really care if Tesco pay £7 of it and the taxpayer £3. If the taxpayer removed his portion then tesco could either give me a £3 rise or find someone else, if enough people felt the same their shelves go unstacked and their tills unmanned until they pay an attractive wage . That's a free market working for the working man .Of course as you seem to acknowledge an influx of foreign workers will distort the market .somebody somewhere will work for £7 an hour because they'll only get £2.50 in their home country .
  8. B&Q pay just above minimum wage for most of their staff and therefore the state spends a lot of money subsidising them. Too much supply & subsidies will always produce low wages. The unskilled working man has one tool to bargain with, the withdrawal of that labour. If nobody will stack the shelves the retailer will have to increase wages to attract people. Whilst there's a ready supply of workers and whilst the government increases pay on behalf of the employer, why on earth would they? They are only interested in their shareholders and profits . The government also subsidies landlords as rents are kept artificial high and not subjected to the market. If there was more social housing and no housing benefit , private landlords would have to either bring rents down or have empty properties .
  9. The 3rd place play off game has to be the biggest waste of time in any world cup, proper one or birds one. All the players running on at the end jumping around like loons was a bit mickey mouse, its a nothing meaningless game .
  10. They're only interested in what's right for the EU, not Greece .
  11. I was playing myself ( obviously not for saints ) the day of the Adrian Heath goal , so although gutted at the result it didn't quite have the sickening feeling it must have been watching it at the ground . The Norris one was **** all , completely irrelevant in the context of history . The 4 at their place under Twitchy were all worse. The single most gutless performance I've seen in 40 years of watching . I guess the worst one in terms of technique was Lurch's clearance and John Barnes rolling it back in whilst he scrabbled across the goal . But for a sinking feeling it had to be Bents . We played well and should have put it to bed, and Crouch was a complete numpty . That was the day I thought we're going down for the first time in nearly 3 decades .

Maybe we should just nuke the twts , it worked with the Japanese. It'll also do them a favour as they'll get to meet these virgins with all their mates together .
  13. Don't normally watch tennis but was drawn to watch by my lads constant shouting . The English chick played so well , but Williams is something else . 3-0 and serving was a big moment as was when she was 40-love up and lost the game . I would watch it a lot more if it wasn't for the plums in the crowd . Wimbledon has to be the most annoying crowd in the history of sport .

The RAF were wrong to bomb Germany, they could have killed poor old William Joyce .
  15. Now footballers are paid such unbelievable amounts of money the local area is pretty irrelevant (accept for London ) . They'll be able to live in a fantastic area in a fantastic house within travelling distance of any club . Southampton and surrounding area was an attraction when they still had to be a little bit careful with their money.
  16. Spot on
  17. Look at twitter
  18. Typical of this country , mass over reaction . We lost , what's heroic about losing . We lose in a quater final and it's unacceptable but lose in a semi and it's all out of proportion . I just hope there's not a repeat of the 1990 nonsense of an open top bus heroes return , it's just embarrassing . I've seen the winning goal and there was nothing " unlucky" about it. It was poor defending and poor technique . I feel sorry for the chick , but it really was poor.
  19. I'm not watching this shiete as I'm working late . However I see on Twitter that there was a blantant dive for a peno . Thank god for that , now all the metro sexuals going on about how much more sporting the birds are and there's no arguing, diving, blah blah blah will stfu .
  20. Marcotti on The Times podcast said that lovren just reverted to how he was at previous club . He claimed that last season at Liverpool wasn't an exception , the good season at Southampton was .
  21. Correct. This " send the Brits home" is complete and utter nonsense. I was in Cyprus recently and there's plenty of Russians living there. How many Americans are there in France or Australians in the UK, how man Swiss work in Germany ? My son completed a piece of paper and is now working in Australia. You don't need to be in the EU to live or work abroad, its just a scare story put about by euro nutters like ken Clarke.
  22. To have monetary union without fiscal union will always lead to this. The Euro is a disaster for all but a handful of northern European nations , to have The Greeks, Portuguese and Spanish in monetary union with the Dutch & Germans is madness. The EU have caused unbelievable misery to the Greeks with this vanity project , a project that was doomed from the start. You'll not find a British politician admitting to wanting Britain to join the EU ( although there were plenty) , but you'll not find any of the Establishment against the principle of the euro . With their little Englander approach they were perfectly happy for the Greeks to **** themselves provided we werent in it . People like Redwood & Cash were against the principle of the Euro across the whole of Europe and these people have been proved right. It is incredibly unstable to have the Greeks in this state . I've been to Greece many times and the people are fantastic, they do not deserve to suffer this madness inflicted on them for ideological reasons. Whatever happens they're in for a couple more years of real pain, but if they can control their own currency they'll bounce back quicker . They'll then become a model for Cyprus and the Portuguese to follow suit and hopefully the whole damn house of straw will collapse and the people of Europe can govern themselves again.
  23. In what way is it arrogance to identify a player they want to sign and bid for him. They can bid for whoever they want. What do you want them to do, run any potential signings by you?
  24. Do people think les read and the rest are a load of bumbling half bakes . " Why cant we bid the same as spurs" ect, ect. I've no doubt we've been in Toby's ear all season, explored the possibility of making the loan permanent in Jan ,and have tried to get the deal done early doors this summer. However, the cards are all in AM's favour and there's such a thing as flogging a dead horse. Once he played well last season we were always going to struggle to get him back. Its pretty obvious that the 6 clubs that finished above us pay more money than us in wages. Why on earth would he turn down spurs and more money to play for us? If spurs want him they'll get him. I'm going to take the approach I did when a chick dumped me, and tell my spurs supporting work colleagues that I'm glad he didn't sign for us and was over rated anyway.
  25. Can I be the first to say; This has nothing to do with Islam and it's a peaceful religion. Also like to add that had white loons shot up the beach we wouldnt ask other whiteys to condemn or apologise for it. Stand down Daily Fail readers, nothing to see here.
