  1. you're = you are your = belongs to you
  2. who's = who is whose? = who does it belong to
  3. I remember when the newsagents opened in Mercer Way in Romsey, Danny Wallace was supposed to open it. There was a crowd of about 30 kids there who were all slightly disappointed to see a grumpy Stevie Williams there, standing in at the last minute as Wallace was sick. Seems odd now, maybe SW wasn't such a star at the time. I don't think I even kept the autograph.
  4. He made it pretty clear at the questions thing that it wasn't about football. If it's for personal reasons it would be wrong to announce it to the public. If you were sacked for a misdemeanor, would you like it if your boss announced your personal details to every customer? Note that Pardew has also been happy for details not to be released. What we have here is a chairman who knows how to be professional and fans used to a world where that's pretty rare. I'm certain that if reason's for Pardew's sacking were released just to satisfy people's curiosity, Pardew would have very good grounds for suing the club.
  5. Wow, does anyone remember Beattie's barren spells? He sometimes used to go 10 or 11 games without scoring. He was still our best option at the time by far.
  6. Never mind, I'm sure everybody's doing their best. Maybe next time they'll win, eh?
  7. Are you sure those are phones? I think you'll find they're American football teams.
  8. What are you morons going on about? People? It was one post. One person. Even he only posted it as an alternative squad. No wonder so many people here panic about the first hint of a rumour with this kind of stupidity.
  9. Junction 9 does this kind of thing.
  10. In what way at all does this not belong on one of the other manager threads?
  11. It is wrong when the criticisms take the staring point of using mere rumour against him. The people criticising had no facts, yet felt the need to make critical comments about what he had "done" anyway. Now facts have come out, they've shown all of those criticisms to be nonsense.
  12. It seems to me that Cortese is actually the only one who's been acting in a professional or honourable way all through this. Most of the idiots who've been criticising him based on rumour or comparing him to Lowe or other such silly things need to see that he is only refusing to get involved in some of the more unprofessional and petty aspects that football fans have come to expect of their clubs. He doesn't discuss the private matter of the reasons behind Pardew's sacking and never will, because that's not a public issue. He doesn't respond to every press speculation, because that's a waste of anyone's time. His decisions about how the club should be run all seem to be based on sense and sound business. Too many people here just want the pettiness they're used to and can't handle Cortese because he doesn't get involved, he just gets on with the job. We're lucky to have him and I hope he doesn't get sick of the abuse he seems to be getting from the more ignorant fans, whom we'll obviously never be entirely rid of.
  13. Exactly, until he unprofessionally divulges information we don't have any right to, I think we should make up lots of rumours and then obstinately believe them. Then we should use them as weight in the argument that he is doing a bad job. We should also believe everything the S****horpe chairman says as he has no vested interest in this at all.
  14. I used to work at the school right next door to Nadderud. Actually I also used to go to the Celtic supporters' club pub in Grunerløkka quite a bit with a Celtic supporting mate, cheapest beer I ever found in Oslo.
  15. SK Brann because it's my local team.
  16. I can confirm that A.M. Brown is not in the running.
  17. I'd have to search my previous posts to see where I've ever responded to you before. Don't remember it, I suppose you must just be more aware of me than I am of you.
  18. Are you crazy, everyone is desperate to know what TiT says! And now we hear that he lives in the US! One of both of these reasons is why nearly everything he wants to say deserves its own thread.
  19. Of course the decision was made by the club. Players can't sack a manager. This doesn't affect the rumours being true or false.
  20. Kubrick is very cold and detached though, whereas in Scorsese's films there's a bit more investment in the characters.
  21. Scorsese for Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Raging Bull and Casino (thought Mean Streets was only OK), but he's had a few duds in there too. I find Kubrick often to be a little disappointing after his films are held in such high regard. Clockwork Orange is not a great film considering the source material. I'm one of the very few who didn't think Dr Strangelove lived up to its reputation. 2001 is wonderful in places, but disappears up its own arse for long periods at the start and end. Full Metal Jacket didn't stand out much from the other Vietnam films made almost at exactly the same time. The Shining was good and so was Lolita, but neither stayed with me like Scorsese's best.
  22. This (+1) No, I wasn't infracted, at least yet, but I saw you were being threatened even though you actually wrote more than some of the other posters on here. Apparently "yes, yes and thrice yes" is acceptable, "I have to agree" is acceptable, "nail on head", "+1", "nutsacks" and "this" are acceptable, but "Nutshell. Definitely worth pursuing the Fonte/Martin partnership."is trying the mods' patience. It's all a bit random.
  23. Ooops. Is "nutshell" against forum rules? Do we have to say the slightly dumber "+1" or even worse "this" to avoid SG's ever so slightly bizarre wrath?
  24. Nutshell We were far stronger at the back without Jaidi.
  25. He knew, Deppo. He knew.
