To widen the scope a bit, I listened to a piece on the BBC earlier about a refugee family picked up in one of the boats that was "fleeing from the war in Syria" and it got me wondering whereabouts in Syria they actually got on the boat.

Bargain! It cost them a grand apiece for an exhilerating ride down the slippery slope.

Moving them to the front of the immigration queue ahead of the others that have the required skills, experience and qualifications to come to the EU and are following the rules isn't the answer either. These people are largely economic migrants looking for a better way of life, not fleeing torture or persecution. I think we have a moral duty to save their lives, but not to improve them.

I agree, not unfair dismissal. Didn't matter that much to Nigel, I'm sure he did well enough out of it. But it is relevant to the question that Mikey asked.
-
What sort of claim would that be?
-
No, Mr. Sparks, it seems none of us have heard of your son.
-
That's the point I was makng to Mikey. I think a "one year fixed term" contractor is different from "If you are classed as an employee..." OK Osvaldo was probably not a good example to pick. Why do you think no club sacks any of it's players before the end of their contract even when they won't actually play again and leave on a free transfer? Why do they keep paying them for doing nothing up to the end of their contract? Why did we keep paying Adkins after Pochettino came in?
-
Why don't you just let her go?
-
.
-
I think it's called fixed term for a reason.
-
I'm guessing for the same reason we can't just fire Dani Osvaldo without paying up his contract.
-
I thought you might find that helpful before making too much of a nuisance of yourself.

Watching the final last Saturday it occurred to me just how far we are away from the quality needed to be anywhere near winning this trophy. Qualifying is one thing and we may well do that soonish, but we are worlds away from being able to compete with the likes of Barcelona. Even Juventus looked well beyond us. We will never have the cash to bring in the quality of squad needed to compete at the highest level. Perhaps I am just having an Alpine moment, but maybe Europa is the best we can hope for?
-
I too would be very happy to be consistent participants in the Europa league, mostly through our league position and occasionally through being knocked out of the Champion's League.
-
I can't ever remember seeing a single thread on here about us winning the Champion's League. Only threads I can remember are about qualifying to take part.

Saints opt not to take up right-to-buy on Eljero Elia
hutch replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Why do we think that the purchase price is a factor on whether we should sign him or not? If he's any good we'll get our money back when we sell him on. If he isn't then we shouldn't sign him in the first place. The only money issue to consider is his wages. -
Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)

The trouble with social networking is that even swivel-eyed loonies can find peers. -
Which is what Whittingdale actually said in Parliament.

Inching from venue fixing to match fixing.

Don't worry, I know a bloke that could sort it all out, no questions asked.

He's obviously thinking about the third qualifying round draw.

That is why FIFA has continued to survive and thrive through scandal after scandal. In many, if not most, cultures in the world corruption like this is a way of life, and most people won't see anything wrong with it, nor why people are being arrested and charged. They don't call it bribery and don't think it is corrupt. You just pay an intermediary to help you to get what you want. And if you don't pay you don't get.
