  1. Yes, he was. Despite playing at left back he was often the man of the match and the most dangerous player on the pitch. People who know their football could see he would be an elite player, same as when Mane joined. I don't think you have to pick him as a left back in this scenario, though.
  2. Pick one of our good centre backs: I'd go for prime Svennson. Didn't leave under a cloud, great organiser and good for a few goals a season. Then pick some entertainers up front. If we're talking players in their prime then you have to pick Matt Le Tiss. You also have to pick a centre forward to you probably go Keegan or Beattie. Both of those in their prime were far superior to Lambert. Then you pick Bale, Wallace, Pahars etc. as you choose. I wasn't old enough to see Keegan play for us, so my team would be: McCarthy Cedric Svennson Yoshida Bertrand Lemina Hojbjerg Bale LeTiss Redmond (lolz) Beattie

He's doing what they want, in terms of going along with the strategy but within those parameters you can still make mistakes. Our player recruitment has been largely awful for the last 2 or 3 seasons. I don't think Wee Ross and Les would have survived at many clubs.
  4. It wasn't exactly hard-core super slander.

The King of Pop is innocent! God bless you, Michael.

I think they have significantly more money than Kat and more business experience so I would imagine they'll crack-on.
  7. Confidence and composure, isn't it. That's exactly the sort of scenario Sterling would have messed up a few years ago.
  8. Spurs are a joke. Can't believe no sanction for their lack of home ground shenanigans. That pitch is pathetic and they've caused issues for all sorts of traveling fans. Bunch of ****s.
  9. I think it's odd that Forster hasn't even been on the bench for league cup games. Something behind the scenes? The Yoshi thing smacks of us trying to force him into accepting a move before his sale value is negligible. Davis, I get your point, but he doesn't really fit Hughes' cuttong-edge 442 philosophy and he was cack last season.
  10. Yep, he'd be well worth it but I fear he's not #thesouthamptonway
  11. So, to paraphrase, "I dunno".
  12. They weren't geniuses though, they were wrong. What's your view?
  13. Don't need to discuss GK. Finally we seem to have two decent ones. Right back - we only have one, so that's that. Left back - Bertrand isn't a captain but I don't think he merits being dropped. In any case, it's not a problem area and Targett is a capable deputy. Centre back - everyone will have their personal favourites but it's all much of a muchness due to our failure to sign a standout CB. SO - the important question is how we get more out of the midfield and attack. WHICH PLAYERS HAVE THE ABILITY TO PLAY FOR GENUINELY GOOD TEAMS? Lemina, Ings and maybe Hojbjerg. Gabbi slightly below. The rest of them are bog standard. So we need to get the most out of the best ones. How do we do this? We don't play a wide open 442. Teams who play this way successfully rely a lot on strength and pace. We don't have too much of either. We go with 3 in midfield. Romeu protects the back 4 and Lemina and Hojbjerg play in front or one of them plays alongside Romeu. This shape also allows JWP and Armstrong more chance of getting a start in central midfield if someone is injured or out of form. Proceeding through the season with two central midfielders isn't going to work without a proper "back to goal" striker who can help get us up the pitch. We play Ings and we play Gabbi coming in from the right to support. On the left hand side we play Redmond or Elyounoussi or Gallagher. In Jan we try hard to sign a decent centre back and a striker who can hold the ball up. We try to shift: Forster Bednarek Davis Long Austin Ideally, we get a manager in with a clear and communicable philosophy as well. Lemina is potentially our best player and Hojbjerg has been our best in-form player this season. Let's give them the chance to control matches.
  14. I'd much rather which Boufal than any of the players currently out there, Lemina possibly excepted, that's for sure.
  15. I'm not sure why we don't have much more public education about first aid. Certainly should be a part of the secondary school syllabus IMO.
  16. Quite. Bear in mind that at the time of the crash it would have been around 02:30 in Thailand so clearly they want to inform people there before it's in the media. Very sad indeed and it's reminding me of how I felt when Markus died.
  17. Sounds like he's made some progress overnight, so that's good.
  18. If they had more guns in libraries things could have been different.

If we want someone fast we might as well sign Usain Bolt.

The only manager for us with a worse top flight record, ever, is Wigley.
  21. Get over yourself you helmet. It's what Glenn believes in. Hardly merits outrage.
  22. I wonder if he'd be better in a central role. Anyway, his confidence is shot at the moment which is leading to poor decisions.
  23. We looked slightly better when we went to eleven men but tactically we're a mess, we'll start conceding freely again when we have to play a better team and the forward players are all in a dark place, mentally.
