  3. If I could identify one thing that has been the bane of our season so far, this would be it. Leyton Orient at home, Brighton at home, Notts County at home... a few that spring to mind where we missed glorious chances which would probably have secured the three points.
  4. Whilst it seems eminently sensible and logical for insurance companies to take the data available to them into account when setting premiums/annuities etc there seems to be no real qualititative difference between that sort of discrimination and many other types of discrimination which are illegal already. For example, if I was recruiting and had two equal candidates, one a 25 year old married male and one a 25 year old married female, then ojectively there is probably a strong case for me taking the male (as the female is probaly quite likely to disappear for several months at some point in the future). To paraphrase the post above, the female is simply likely to cost more. However that would be illegal. It would even be illegal for me to ask her what her plans were re a family. Is there an objective difference between the scenarios? The principle that all discrimination should be illegal is a nonsense IMO. People are discriminated against all the time with respect to their intelligence or their behaviour. That is how decisions are made. The solution is for all discrimination to be perfectly legal and for humans to be better educated and informed. That aint gonna happen though. The result is that the law is left with a very difficult task in codifying what feels "right".
  5. I will be disgusted if we concede a goal. Look at the money we've spent FFS! There are some crappy clubs who have kept a clean sheet against Swindon so if we don't it is completely unacceptable. God, no wonder we are such losers when some fans will countenance conceding a goal.
  6. I would question whether a Tranmere fan has seen both sides play several times (seems a bit weird) but we were carp when we played Tranmere away so it's probably not suprising he says that. It's not true to say we play the same way week in week out and indeed we have been changing our system fairly regularly recently. We did, however, utterly take the **** out of them at St Mary's and the man from the Beeb was cooing about how much we were in a different league from them and were playing lovely stuff. There's no doubt Brighton play a style which is unusual. Having said that, I have only seen them play once this year which was when we played at St Mary's and the style was very easy to contain indeed and we completely outdid them tactically. We should have won the match fairly comfortably and the only time Brighton looked dangerous was when they stuck a bigger player upfront towards the end of the match and lobbed it long. That's hardly a tactical revelation; it is what teams have always done when they want a goal towards the end of the match. Having said that, judging from the wild celebrations at the final whistle they were clearly pleased with a draw. Their centre backs looked like a very good pair. The return match will be very interesting because we have demonstrated that we can outdo Brighton if they try to play their usual way so it will be a bit of a game of bluff from the managers.

    Lol. Oh dear.
  8. Bit long IMO.
  9. Probably not as professional as Deppo's but these could make good covers:

    Get another one. Durr.

My thoughts exactly. I think Adkins has given him a chance in the deeper role but I dout we will see that again too often.
  13. Looking at those fixtures then if we can win I reckon there will be a lot more optimism around here on Saturday evening.
  14. Chaplow clears well with his freak right foot.

You say that, but... Who are the "definite" gonners? I would say Chamberlain and Fonte. Lallana probably. Schneiderlin probably? Those will bring in the best part of £20m. A ludicrous amount for a League One club to raise and one which will mean we can buy the best possible replacements. We will still have a core squad which is likely to include: Davis Some of the best full-backs in the division Martin, Jaidi, Seaborne Hammond, Chaplow, Forte Lamert, Barnard, Guly, We would need to pick up a midfielder or two and some "impact" wide players but would still be in a great position to get promoted, particularly with a manager who has had time to bed in and will hopefully have a preaceful pre-season to get everything ready.
  16. Agree, don't think Guly has done too much wrong but I would freshen it up a bit upfront for this one.
  17. FWIW, I would pick this: -------------------------------------KD------------------------------ FR----------------------JF--------------RJ/AM----------------------DH Johnno-------------Hammo---------------Schneido------------------Lallo --------------------Big Rickie-------------Little Lee------------------- Bench: Shea, Butters, RJ/AM, Chambo, Guly, Dickson, Chappers
  18. Indeed. If we batter them for the first 45 minutes but fail to score for some reason you can guarantee there will be a divvy element booing at half time.
  19. I agree with your first paragraph. In the modern era, PFC's "size" is towards the bottom of the second division and the club has absolutely no foundations to speak of. What is interesting is the way there are a lot of big clubs out of the top flight in recent years. This seems to be correcting itself slightly with Forest, Leeds and Norwich on an upward trajectory. The Prem would be so much better with them, Saints, Wednesday, Derby in it.
  20. I think what some need to realise is that this is a comprehensive round-up of all Saints players. There will be an almighty amount of utter turd being described.
  21. Didn't realise Pini Zahavi was Ben Haim's agent. There's a name which is not mentioned in connection with their recent history perhaps as often as some might have expected.
  22. The summer is going to be hilarious. Watching Cotteril trying to build a team from even less than they have now with no money will be pure entertainment.
  23. To Dell and Back.

    Eh?
  25. I didn't say any of that, just pointed out that you weren't very impressive at all when you played us. And I am fully aware that you are top and are doing well. Good for you. I hope Brighton, Saints and Bournemouth get promoted. And by the way "supposed bigger club" - don't make yourself look silly.
