If Leicester do win it, would it be the greatest achievement in football history? Sporting history maybe? Clough's Forest was amazing, as was Greece winning the European championship, and I'm sure there have been some impressive unexpected league winners around the globe at one time or another. But rock bottom this time last year, one of the favourites to go down at the beginning of this season, Pearson sacked and replaced with a manager who was a disaster with Greece, and 5000-1 to win the league at that time. That's hard to beat.

Reminds me of Glenda's treatment of MLT when England manager, possibly due to MLT rebuffing Glenda's attempt to sign him for Chelsea previously.

Hammers beat Spurs 1-0. Mixed feelings there, as they pull away from us , but they put a dent into the north London yobos' title chances. City getting clobbered by Liverpool, and Stoke win, so we're down to 9th. Arsenal also lose, great night for Leicester.
-
Good find. I knew a 5th or lower placed winner of the Europa League or CL would give the PL an extra CL place, but now we know it wouldn't help us if we finish 8th!
-
Runt? I've been called worse. Great thread.
-
Ok, ignore the hate. But if Liverpool had won there would be one less Europa League spot available. So love him or hate him, logically any Saints fan should have wanted him to miss.

Also if City finish 5th, the Capital One Cup Euro spot goes to the PL 6th place. Being cup runners-up no longer qualifies for Europe. If City finish in the top 4 and also win the CL there is no extra CL place for the PL, but if they finish 5th and win the CL the top 5 qualify for the CL, with Euro Cup going to 6th and 7th. If on top of that, a top 7 team wins the FA cup, then 8th would qualify for the Euro Cup.

Couldn't have been scripted better. We can add it to this beauty.

Great pass by Milner, but Aguero couldn't finish.

This. What's the purpose of this thread?

Apart from Leicester.

Do Saints improve players better than other teams?
Dark Munster replied to Cumbria Saint's topic in The Saints
A drop of "great stuff" in an ocean of shit (including the classic 7-1 humping by Everton). We were in the relegation zone most of the season, and in the end survived by one point. And any manager who can be fooled into playing Ali Dia is either an imbecile or couldn't give a toss (in his case a bit of both I think). I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that tosser. -

Ok, how about a list of players who left Saints and thrived? - Bale - Kevin Phillips - Shearer - Kevin Davies, sort of, he did pretty well for a long time with Bolton - Chivers Um ..... -

Apart from the 6-3 against 10-man Utd he was utter shit for us. -
"If we can play like we did when Liverpool won 6-1 at Southampton we have a great chance of winning at Wembley" said Caulker. "But unfortunately I'm not eligible to play for City" he added.
-
Good point. The last thing they want to do is to prematurely reach the dizzy heights of the third division before the club and squad is ready. Humiliation would ensue, from which they may never recover.
-
Yes, but so are we. Bring them on! Also, in fairness we played them earlier when they were in their worst form of the season, so it evens out I guess.
-
A walk in the park against the City toddlers. They should be as fresh as us when we play them.
-
You're right, I don't think MP took us to the Capital One quarters. We beat Arsenal and Stoke before losing in the quarters, despite a strong line up, against a League 1 outfit who played out of their skins.
-
Possibly (I couldn't be arsed to check). But the point is I don't have a problem if we go out, as long as the manager does his best. We lost to Palace and Liverpool this year with (on paper) our strongest line ups. Unlike what MP did against Sunderland.

At least Sir Ronald takes each cup seriously.
