  1. Starting today in the top of the table clash against Munich - Currently 1-0 up. C'mon Tella!
  2. I think thoughts of THB going straight to a top team are a little premature. Fantastic as he has been he is still completely untested at PL level, which is a huge step up from The Championship. If we go up he'll, I'm sure, be delighted to join permanently as a first choice CB in a PL team. Of course if he steps up as we believe he can he won't stay long, but by that time he'll be worth mega money and I will fully enjoy watching Saints piss it up the wall again ala VVD. Or City will have a buy back clause worth buttons.
  3. Chamberlain was the opposite. If he played more than 10mins a game Arsenal had to pay extra. He therefore was always brought on in the 81st minute, but for some reason no-one at the Arse considered injury time and they therefore had to pay us £1.2m more than they thought 😂
  4. I love that table! Joint most points, with a game in hand, best defensive record (less than a goal every two games), 2nd best offensive record, best goal difference. Really shows how far we've come this season
  5. £40m would have been. £17m not so much. Chelsea took a huge chunk of the cash, and for the talent he showed I would have kept him I dunno, kwp & tino up the right flank would have been worth a try. Or kwp at left back. We'll never know sadly
  6. Think it's fairly clear we needed the money. Both him and JWP had their prices reduced hugely in order to facilitate a sale
  7. Another opportunity for your opinion to be ridiculed by your peers and other people with nothing better to do. It's been the quietest window in many years, so maybe the value is who has stayed rather than joined/left. Do you dare put a number between 1 & 10 as to how Saints fared? In Joe Rothwell (loan, Bournemouth) David Brooks (loan, Bournemouth) Out Jack Bycroft (undisclosed, Swindon Town) Kamari Doyle (undisclosed, Brighton & Hove Albion) Ryan Finnigan (undisclosed, Blackpool) Carlos Alcaraz (loan, Juventus) Mason Holgate (end of loan, Everton) Thierry Small (released)
  8. I do as well, but if we are promoted this season he would have benefited massively from getting used to our style of play in the championship. It would have helped him hit the ground running in the prem ala Lambert or Toney. Of course, we may not get promoted.... Alcaraz will be back in the summer. As others have said, no chance Juve meet the option price
  9. Did anyone ask him about this thread???
  10. TBF it isn't a comment that aged well... (Like a lot of my comments TBF ha!)
  11. There are already numerous threads on this board about the stupid things MLT has said... and this thread wasn't made in relation to any of them.
  12. Regardless what you think of his views, it is a bit of a shame a post about from a local business advertising an opportunity to put your view to him in person has descended into sarcasm and the usual squabbling... Good luck with the event op.
  13. What a win today! Don't think anyone saw this result happening after days 1 & 2. Phenomenal performance firstly from Pope and then from Hartley on debut to get us the win. This England team is great to watch - not always for the best reasons, but always entertaining
  14. Either he's forcing his way out or Leicester are desperate for the money. Seems nuts to sell him in the middle of the season when promotion is not assured
  15. Given how the 1st test is going it's looking more than possible Dawson is called up. Leach injured and judging by how the pitch seems to be we might be best playing 5 spinners each match ...
  16. It would be funny if the Englishman who ends up with a Bundesliga winners medal this season is Nathan Tella rather than Harry Kane
  17. 1-0 up at HT
  18. We should worry about catching Leicester only if we have already pulled clear from Ipswich. Leicester win all the way
  19. We should hold a sweepstake on the next sponsorship/renaming deal. I'll go for Saudi PIF Bowl
  20. Slate his ego all you want, but we had an incredible period of success under his stewardship. One (admittedly lower league) cup, back to back promotions, and purchasing some players who went on to become Southampton legends like SRL and Fonte - both purchased whilst we were in L1. He also brought in people like Pooch and was key in players like Lallana staying. Would it all have gone tits up eventually? Probably... But still it was a great time to be a saints fan
  21. I'd be surprised if we're selling Stu. He's over 30 and less than 6 months on his contract so unlikely to get much money for him. We're better off keeping him and letting him go for nothing imo given how class he's been this season. I guess if he's pushing to leave it makes sense.
  22. That's 5 loans we have, and I believe we can only have 5 in a match day squad, so this may affect moves for Brooks et al. We can get more loan players in of course, but at least 1 wouldn't be able to be picked. Guess Holgate may make way in that case?
  23. Yes in theory, however fringe players for Bournemouth & Burnley won't normally be a massive step up from what we have. The RW & LB slots would be the easiest to get a foothold in the team though
  24. If these players are choosing Hull over us then it'll solely be down to playing time on offer. Fair play to them for that - it'll be hard for any player coming here to break into the first team atm. Brooks perhaps had the best chance of happening anyway given he wouldn't need to relocate.

It may just be squad rotation. 4 games in ten days is a lot! But yeah not working brilliantly so hopefully we will be back to normal now the scheduling is a bit easier
