  1. This is one of those pointless discussions which assumes that the only stats worth considering are goals and direct assists. For example, how would shelveys stats compare to davis in terms of prevention of attacking threat by the opposition? Stopping an attack is just as important as starting/assisting /finishing one.
  2. I vaguely recall that as well.
  3. That's good advice, which I've now taken.
  4. That's just not the case. He pressurises defences, and creates space for the main attack. That's what he was bought for and that's what he does.
  5. I'd be amazed if shane long was sold in january, or the summer for that matter. Seriously, who could we buy for the money we'd get that would be a significant improvement? In any case, I don't get the criticism he seems to have been getting on here lately. He's a particular type of player who was brought in to do a specific type of job, he was never likely to start every game.
  6. A point some on here seem to have missed.
  7. As I pointed out to another long-suffering saints fan, I reckoned this as a 1-1 draw with us scoring a late equaliser. Given that his chosen scoreline of a 2-0 win has now gone out the window, my pint is safe.
  8. That's probably what Ron is saying to the players.
  9. Singapores theory has been completely vindicated then...
  10. My take on it is that labour are biding their time, and that corbyn is a stopgap until they decide whether or not they want to get into downing street next time. Fixed-term parliaments have focussed this approach, although obviously the governing party still have an edge. If the labour hierarchy decide they do actually want to win it, corbyn will be out quicker than you can say "landslide"; if he's still there come the next election we can safely assume they don't want it. Much the same as shoehorning in the clearly unelectable ed miliband instead of his clearly electable brother.
  11. Am I the only one to have completely missed the gist of the above posts? I mean, I've had a beer or two, but I can't make any sense of this.
  12. That would explain why I never see him. God bless America.
  13. You hardly ever see him on tv nowadays. I can't think why.
  14. I didn't see the game, or even the highlights yet. But it sounds to me as if it was a match big Ron had already chalked off in terms of much hope of points from. The cup is probably more important at this stage.
  15. Do what I did ten years ago. Engineer a massive argument with the family member you dislike the most, then insist that you won't tolerate any more parties.
  16. I may not have been taking this as seriously as the op intended. Apologies. WGS was a good'un as well, fair point. I'm trying to erase poch and hoddle from my mind.
  17. .....*thinks*.....how many have a statue of themselves outside the stadium, how many have won a cup, how many got us promoted? So it's Bates, Lawrie, Pards and Nige. Honourable mention to Pearson for keeping us up, and a slight liking (for no reason I can account for) for Wotte.
  18. Brown deserves credit for stopping that slimy c*nt blair dragging us into the eurozone. That is the most important economic decision to have been taken in the last couple of decades.
  19. Rationale. Not rational. I've always wanted to correct MLG.
  20. I imagine he's being where he's been told to be. He's played under big Ron before, and Ron obviously trusted him enough to want him here.
