This is one of those pointless discussions which assumes that the only stats worth considering are goals and direct assists. For example, how would shelveys stats compare to davis in terms of prevention of attacking threat by the opposition? Stopping an attack is just as important as starting/assisting /finishing one.

That's just not the case. He pressurises defences, and creates space for the main attack. That's what he was bought for and that's what he does.

I'd be amazed if shane long was sold in january, or the summer for that matter. Seriously, who could we buy for the money we'd get that would be a significant improvement? In any case, I don't get the criticism he seems to have been getting on here lately. He's a particular type of player who was brought in to do a specific type of job, he was never likely to start every game.

My take on it is that labour are biding their time, and that corbyn is a stopgap until they decide whether or not they want to get into downing street next time. Fixed-term parliaments have focussed this approach, although obviously the governing party still have an edge. If the labour hierarchy decide they do actually want to win it, corbyn will be out quicker than you can say "landslide"; if he's still there come the next election we can safely assume they don't want it. Much the same as shoehorning in the clearly unelectable ed miliband instead of his clearly electable brother.
