  1. I was agreeing with you.
  2. They had not lost for 22 games before playing us.....
  3. I think anyone who expected us to beat probably a £1billion team is slightly mad. These are not the games to be judged on. To put a bit of perspective on how awful things were before the manager change. Hughes had 3 wins in 22 PL games. If he only wins 1 of the next 17 games he equals that **** record. I am pretty sure we will win more than 1 of our next 17 games.
  4. So I missed the first half how did we do? The comments on flashscore were indicating jwp was having a shocker?
  5. We look really shattered. I really wish Ings wouldn't fall over so easy. Every time the ball goes towards him he just falls over and takes an age to get up again. Don't think we have played that bad at all. Can see the structure and ideas there. Been a bit unlucky with some balls taking slight deflections and not going where we intended them to go. Be interesting to see the stats for how far Targett and Redmond have ran as they seem to be up and down the pitch constantly.
  6. They only have 6 subs? Also nice to see another youngster on the bench Ramsay. Well done lad.
  7. ****ing hell what a strike that was. Back to Saints. Just goes to show you how **** our previous managers have been. If you try and win you might actually win. Nice to have a manager with some balls who isn't afraid to take chances and make decisions that actually give us chances to win games. How managers get paid millions for being **** and getting sacked is just crazy.
  8. I think the writing has been on the wall for him for quite some-time now. Decent lad who gives his all but just isn't good enough for this level. Sadly I think persisting with him for as long as we have has hindered other youngsters getting a chance. If we can get £10m-£15m for him I would take it.
  9. What a surprise, you try and win a game and who knew you might actually win a game?! The players were fantastic today and played together as one. They were even talking to each other and trying to organise themselves which is something I have not seen for a long time. Yes we made some mistakes but what a difference in how we play. We actually wanted to play football and get at them rather than park the bus with 8 defensive players. Hughes, Puel and co would have set up shop after the 1st goal and hoped to get a result. So well done Saints you did something we have rarely seen for a long time and that is make us feel proud to be a Saints fan! Only concern I have is when we have loads of games in one week how will the players we have recover. And god bless Shane Long for that yellow card as I had a bet on for over 3 goals, over 8 corners and over 3 cards
  10. Win lose or draw from here this is so much better than what we have seen the past few years. Just goes to show how out of date managers like Hughes really are.
  11. Playing some really good football. So good to see us try and get the ball forward as soon as we can rather than keep the ball and pass around our defenders.
  12. Was the same when he was here. Shocked by the intensity at which Pochettino had his players working after a matchday, Lambert and former Saints defender Jos Hooiveld looked to persuade their manager to change his ways. “I thought, it was me and Jos Hooiveld who actually had the bottle to go into his [Pochettino’s] room and pull him to one side, very respectfully. “I said ‘Mauricio listen, I understand what you’re trying to do but I just think you’re pushing us too much on a Monday and you need to calm it down, we’re not used to it so maybe build it up a bit later.’ “Mauricio was dead polite he said ‘yes, that’s fine I understand’ – we shook hands, I went out and we went back to the lads made up thinking ‘yep, just done it for you boys, next Monday gonna be sorted. “So, played the game [the next weekend], 90 minutes again, come in Monday, not only did we do 12, we did 24 runs – 24 runs and I just knew, I was running around laughing and almost crying and I knew what he was doing"
  13. Sadly this couldn't be further from the truth. We have one huge squad. A squad that is utterly dire. We barely survived last season and this one looks like it will go the same way. If you add up how much money Les has spent on this squad including those out on loan, how much we are paying these players including the likes of Forster. How much money we have had to spend on compo for managers and staff due to Reeds recruitment mistakes we are talking about vast sums of money. Adam Leitch estimated we are talking around £150m-£200m. For a club of our stature that will affect us for a very long time. So whilst Reed has now been sacked, his mistakes will haunt us for many seasons to come. I really wish it was as you try and suggest that once someone goes there is a clean slate and everything they did no longer has any influence. But that isn't true. Until there is a cull of those players and the financial aspects of those deals no longer affect us then the legacy of Reed can be forgotten. The players are mostly poor. But it isn't their fault they are ****. It is the fault of the person who brought them into the club.
  14. We look so un-fit. It really must have been a holiday camp under Hughes.
  15. Think we are going to nick this game. We have made a lot of mistakes and not really done anything attacking wise. But yet they have not scored against us. 89th minute shot in off someones ass 0-1.
  16. Bottom of league
  17. Were we in the drop zone when he took over? Seriously can't remember.
  18. When I heard someone called Ralph had become manager I seriously feared the worst....
  19. Plus in an interview with the echo he confirmed he signed off on all the deals this summer.
  20. Ok scrap that didn't realise he was sacked!! In that case a non league team please!
  21. Just know it is going to be Stoke away. If Hughes is still here by then that would be one very toxic atmosphere.
  22. We have an atrocious record against promoted sides. But then again we have a poor record against everyone right now..... I got a feeling we will win this one though. Some dodgy ref decision to give us a penalty. Either that or JWP makes it 4 **** ups in 4 games and we lose 1-0.
  23. Think Les used that box to carry his **** out when he got fired.
  24. Overall a draw was a fair result. The ref was awful. Got most things wrong. Didn't he even book the wrong person in that Redmond incident? Obviously they should have had a penalty. If they would of scored, who knows. But to not allow our second was disgusting. Both teams are right to have a go at the ref for that performance. Shocking. That said you have to say McCarthy was excellent. He seemed to be the far busier keeper. A few communication issues but overall very good. Especially that save near the start. If he messed that up it could of turned into a rout. Gabbi seemed very good today too. Was all over the place and involved with most of our chances. Hoj and Cedric didn't have the best of games. I think with 30mins or so to go we were under huge pressure and struggled to get out of our half. Maybe nerves were creeping in. But the changes Hughes made and lack of tactical changes could have cost us. JWP imo shouldn't have come on. He has been making so many costly mistakes this season that we needed someone in there to help get the ball up the pitch. Sadly again JWP made a huge mistake which cost us. That is three in three games now. He can't do it at this level and to try and keep forcing it isn't the right way to go. It sucks we didn't get the win but we played some good attacking football in the first half. Much better than we have in recent games. But there were so many mistakes and if we made them against another team we would probably have been punished. Second half we just faded and seemed knackered. That is why I think we needed someone like Mo instead of JWP to try and get the ball upfield by running with it or running into spaces. I don't think Hughes made the right decisions tactically in that period and didn't help reduce the pressure. For me this isn't really the game to judge Hughes on. It is all the games prior to it. He is just seriously out of date and playing a style that is better suited to the championship or lower divisions. With the international break this is the right time to sack him. Hardly any of our team are away so whoever came in would have time to get to know most of the players before the Fulham game.
  25. I'd have gone for Mo and leave him on the wing. Punt it into space for him to run into. Try and push them back. JWP can't do that.
