I could be wrong but didn't he only go there when they had investment? Also he bailed on Burnley. Doubt they thought he was very loyal. We can do better than howe Imo.

I think it is way too early to bash Koeman in regards to it being about money. It can be for a lot of other reasons. I.e He doesnt want to be here after next season and has been told to go now. He has been told players have to go and wants out, been told he cant sign the players he wants. The terms of the new contract were not great or fitting of a top 6 manager and so on. All I have read so far is it is about money. I don't know Koeman but he doesnt strike me as a money grabber. He seems an honest guy who wants to have a succesful managerial career. He is well respected across the globe and has always honoured his contracts. Or been sacked. There is a huge gamble taking on the Everton job. They have been on a downward spiral for a few years and to stop that will be very hard. If they are throwing money at him and their goal is to become a top 4 club then they are dreaming. If the goal is a top 6 club then they need to invest in a lot of players. Maybe they will do that. But maybe they buy a lot of players and it doesnt work out. Koeman then becomes the manager on the up to being another manager who couldnt replicate what he did elsewhere after spending big. Would he risk tarnishing his career for a few extra million? Love or hate Potchetino he left us for a clearly bigger club. He has gone on to prove he is a very good manager. If Koeman fooks it up at Everton especially after spending a lot of money that will basically kill any chance he has of taking a job at one of the big clubs. Someone else will take on the Arsenal job. Holland might see him as not the right guy. Of course it can go the other way. He could actually go on to do very well for them. He has experience in this league now. He knows what is expected. The type of players you need to succeed. I just dont think he would risk all that for a few extra quid in his pocket. If he continued here and did just as good as he had next season his options would become far greater and potential to earn even more money. Why risk it all now?
-
Maybe. But I think if I have learnt anything in recent years contracts dont mean much. If a manager wants out he will go. If a player signs a new deal and then wants out he will go. My issue is trying to stop these managers and players wanting to go. For as good as we have done we have an horrific record of keeping hold of people. Question is why? Is it really all about money? From next season we all have a mega ton of it so it cant just be that.

Big no for Howe. He seems a nice guy dont get me wrong but I am sure we can do better then someone who finished 5 points above being relegated. We were only 5 points from the CL. They only got 4 points from the last 24 on offer. And 3 of those were from Villa. They switched off and coasted the final month or so. In contrast look at Koeman. Kept us going until it was over.

Wilshere played 2 PL games this season. What a joke. Woy must be ****ing him or something. I can understand it if it was someone like Messi/Ronaldo. A player who is pretty much guaranteed to do something good. Feel sorry for guys like Noble who have been good all season and a lame donkey get's picked ahead of you.

Premiership stadiums getting bigger, hope we don't get left behind
St Marco replied to 9-3's topic in The Saints
Sure I have said it before but England could learn a lot from Germany and Italy in regards to stadiums. With all the tv money flying around and players on £100k+ a week gate receipts are just a drop in the ocean. If the tickets are on par with those countries we will not have any issues selling 40k+ tickets a game. I know a ton of people who can't justify paying £40 to watch one game. I noticed that that historic mega giants Dynamo Dresden had an average of 28k (30k stadium) this season in division three. -
Haha what a bunch of muppets. What a **** team. Queue Crook to come out talking about how it was their cup final and they got all the decisions. The refs were ****, wotton shouldnt have been on the bench etc

James Ward-Prowse signs new six-year deal with Saints
St Marco replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Can't deny the team has played much better without him the last few months. 6 years for someone who doesn't do much seems a bit long. If he can work on his in play ability then he could become a decent player. I don't think that will happen though. -
Don't bite. Everyone knows he is a wum just let it be. Anyone who is petty about the difference between lots and a few is simply looking for an argument. Personally I think this is one of those **** stiring rumours that someone leaks in the hope of creating some havoc. The question is why? If it is Everton then its pretty funny. They are not above us in the food chain. That said it could be a case of their owners trying to appease the fans. It shows ambition and will make the fans happy. Right up until they appoint someone like Hughes or Mclaren. Then their is us. I can't see that being the case for one second. It could possibly be Koemans agent trying to show our board he is in demand and they need to match his vision. It's clear he said in the past he doesn't want to rebuild every summer. If he loses a few of the squad or has been told a few have to go it will naturally **** him off and he could walk. Everton did stand up to the big clubs even after massive bids came in. If someone offered us £50m would we reject it? Based on the current boards history I doubt it. I'm not sure which is more likely but it is an interesting story and one that is in most papers today. To just pass it off and ignore it is a bit silly. It will most likely be total ******** but in a way it could help us. It could make the board speed up contract talks with RK.

Didn't think managers were allowed to communicate with the bench or assistant's when sent off? Clear footage of cook doing that.

Manure are so bad. Can see them getting beat by Bournemouth if they play like that first half.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-1 Sunderland
St Marco replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Thought the game changed for the worst when we brought jwp on. We didn't have the same control in midfield after that. -
Southampton vs Chelsea Post Match Throw away
St Marco replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
No shame in losing to Chelski as they are obviously a quality side. However we shot ourselves in the foot with some big mistakes. I don't blame Pelle because when he gave the ball away it was in their penalty box and had to go past 10 other players. He should of held the ball up for sure but our defending in the last 30mins was comical. VVD should of done much better for the second. Probably the worst game he has had for us imo. -
vvd total gash today

Sorry I meant to say £150 but couldn't edit it. I get a discount as the company I work for is a sponsor at the stadium. These are the official costs for season tickets £190 for Lazio and £240 for Roma. That also includes all cup/Europe games too. Considering my one at Saints cost me around £730 I can buy those 2 and still have near enough £300 in my pocket. Naturally the Italians are very passionate about their football. Fair play to them for standing up to price hikes. We need to do the same thing.
-
Fair play to Sunderland. This will be the first time in 15 years I won't be renewing my season tickets. Not because of the prices but because I am now in a different country! However I may buy season tickets for both Roma and Lazio. Which in total will cost me £45 for a Lazio season ticket and £73 for a Roma one. So just over £100. Which makes the PL prices look even more pathetic. It is about time PL clubs started dropping their prices. Not freezing them or raising them.

James Ward-Prowse's list of indisputable, unimprovable weaknesses
St Marco replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
Have to give the lad some credit he has done well recently. However today he was very much a mixed bag like a lot where. Some of his passes especially in the second half were pretty poor. He also got done a few more times than I would have liked. He needs to create more to justify his starting place. An assist is great but needs to be more consistent with his decision making. Maybe a bit more brave with passes forward. -
Excellent cross by JWP there. We deserve to be winning as that ref is fecking ****. Surprised he didn't disallow it for too many players in the box or something....

Can we PAY Arsenal/Tottenham to take Wanyama away from us?
St Marco replied to Singapore Saint's topic in The Saints
I thought vic played well tbh. That was never a red card. He didn't tackle from behind and didn't even touch the guy. He shouldn't have made that tackle but it was a harsh red. There was a far worse tackle on Pelle from behind. And the one where Long got studs down his ankle. -
James Ward-Prowse's list of indisputable, unimprovable weaknesses
St Marco replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
I thought he played very well today. One if not his best performance for us. However one free kick out of thousands and one penalty doesn't change my opinion of him. That will only change if he can keep doing it week after week. One good game in 100 doesn't make you a great player. If you or I had those chances we would of taken one eventually too. -
Not at all. I think you will find the criticism is more about what he does during the game. Anyone can take penalties and if you have hundreds of attempts at something you will get one right eventually. Credit to JWP he is doing very well today in regards to set pieces. But as the commentator said it was over 2 years since we scored from a free kick. Who took most of those?
-
Understand why people mention Wanyama needs to put in a shift today. But imo so does jwp. Wanyama has it in his locker to raise his game and be a big influence on the game. Yet to see that from Prowse. Today is a day he must perform and actually do something to justify his position in the starting line up.
-
jwp must be gutted to see taggart in midfield ahead of him

Next two games are huge. Losing 10 of 12 games is sacking mode regardless who you are. However win them and we can push on and start to rebuild some confidence. The problem is if we come out of those two games without at least one win the next batch of games are really difficult. These 2 games will shape our season imo. Lose them and it is going to be tough to stay up.
